Has anyone watched any of the coverage yet? So far I have watched 89 and hope to watch 95 soon.

Here is a clip for all the monty fans.

Here is a clip of something called one club challenge from the bbc which I had not heard of before. What a shame we dont get to see this sort of thing anymore. Probably because the current day pro has their head so far up their own ass they would ask $1m to play it.

Does anyone have any idea where there is more footage of the one club challenge?

Was it as fun to watch as that short clip made it seem?

Mac

It was very interesting. It came about because of the "Seve played golf with only a 3 iron" situation and so it was thought a good way for pros to show off their skills. As I remember, most selected a 5 iron, hit big hooks off the tee and played bunker shots with it wide open. Seve played in one of them and he used a 5 iron too. It was a real eye opener regarding what is possible. I'm sure there are others on here who will also remember it (whether they'll admit it is another matter)

I remember nine chins once said he was amazed watching Seve hit better bunker shots than him, and Seve was using a three iron.

I remember it, quite fondly, too. IIRC, Seve absolutely wiped the floor with the rest of them. Some of those greenside bunker shots were jaw-droppingly good, as you say executed with a 5 iron.

Not on that youtube video he didn't. He and Trevino scraped past Faldo and Aoki. It was all a bit muddled though, they seemed to using putters sometimes and there were other players involved as well.

The one I remember was an individual strokeplay thing. I think it was a links course, possibly Birkdale. My other memory is of Seve murdering a massive hook (deliberately, for a change!) off the tee.

what was he doing aiming anywhere near the pin with his second shot to 18? i wonder did he know a par was likely good enough

hend no idea what monty was trying to do but it seems he cracked under the pressure as his putt was awful when he finally got onto the green.

On a similar note what was seve doing going for the pin on 16? I know it didn't go to plan for him on 15 but that seemed like such a foolish decision.

He thought he had more adrenalin, thus picked a shorter iron.
No, I don't think Monty knew a par would do untill too late. Going last, Phil also needed a par to win, but hit it in the woods and doubled.
