Sky Or BBC
Sky or BBC For Masters Coverage
I was one of the people who didn't fancy Sky taking my Masters viewing away from me, after all it's a tradition each year to sit and savour the unique atmosphere at the National. But I have to say that the coverage by SKY has been great and I for one will be staying with Sky this weekend, although I appreciate that not everyone has Sky and many are upset by the BBC losing yet another annual sporting event. I do believe it should have been one of the so called crown jewells, but it's gone and Sky are doing a great job.

Agree with you. I like the Sky coverage and the amount of time they can devote to it. I wish they could at least share The Open with BBC also (as it's a "crown jewels" event the BBC will keep it)

I think the Sky coverage has been okay but still prefer the BBC so will switch at the weekend when both are on at the same time

Re: Sky or BBC For Masters Coverage
Sky's coverage for me every time - even their HD is better than the BBC's. I wish they could share the Open coverage, too, especially as they would show extensive highlights in the evening so people like me who work for a living (and don't have enough holiday entitlement to be able to take time off) can watch it when they get home.
What so many people (especially on another, soon-to-be-defunct forum) don't seem to be able to grasp is that the Masters coverage on both channels is/will be identical, breaks and all. It's up Sky or the BBC how they fill them in - adverts or waffle.

Sky for me, watched the McIroy match yesterday on the interactive section and was impressed by the coverage and the CBS commentators

BBC as I can sit at home with a suction cup crossbow shooting Peter Alliss when he comes on screen.

Setup, I think old Butch also raves about the European golfers, and at least he knows what he talking about unlike some of the pundits. The only howler Butch made yesterday was at the start of the coverage, when he said ' conditions are changing, the greens will speed up so nobody will get near to a 65 again today', Mmmm Alvaro did ..... but to be fair there were plenty of players who came back into contention from Amen corner onwards, but guess today will be a different kettle of fish

I didn't think you had a choice as Sky didn't have any broadcasting rights at the weekend.
Just checked that out... Apparently they do. I thought it was a split broadcast. Guess that means the BBC will be losing it permanently soon.

Mac never knowingly sat on any fence Is it just the pricipal mac or because the beeb is tradition, or is it that in your eyes the beeb team have a better format, even if it is trucated until the weekend?

Re: Sky or BBC For Masters Coverage
Skys coverage has been great, as has been said before, a lot of people are forgetting that the bbc will have to fill the same ad breaks Sjy are but they'll do it with filler made up by Lineker et al which is really irritating.
Sky has been a breathe of fresh air with the masters especially the interactive stuff during the day which is great for those lucky enough to work what hours we like, I am lucky to be one of those and the viewing I've had on Sky for this is fantastic and Butch knows his stuff which is great and we get a good insight into players yes Monty seems to be Sky's version of torrance and Roe is about as interesting as radiator but that's still more knowledgeable and interesting that Walkers Crisp boy!
So well done sky you've hooked me for the weekend

I'll probably flick between the 2. I do like listening to Alliss waffle on about nonsense.

'Those were the days, there was rather quaint gentleman at that club, Smithers Jones was his name, a wonderful old boy, who would ........' Yes SJ I'll miss watching the old portly one and his tales.

I think Monty and Alliss should be put in an alligator pit and forced to wrestle each other with the victor being allowed to feed the loser to the alligators.
If of course the 'gators don't win first.

Well 2 of our sporting legends in one room would be great fun. 2 Ryder Cup captains, 2 great players of their time but neither with a green blazer between them, although the Augusta tailor is chuffed to hell about that. They can be contacted at neverwonamajor/butknowsomestuff.com

I wouldn't call either of them legends.
Although I would call them both candidates for euthanasia.

No. But he was a very, very good player in his day. Shame he couldn't putt!

Probably wine fuelled, but I've just opted for BBC because Monty is doing my head in with Ryder Cup this and fairways mown into you that.

And why is their competitor number the slightest bit interesting? Sticky fringes seems to be his latest favourite. STFU!

Re: Sky or BBC For Masters Coverage
i'll be reverting to the bbc this evening but have been impressed with sky's coverage. might do a bit of flicking to compare but alliss' warblings do amuse me (even if lj's comment about the suction cup arrows had me laughing out loud).

Re: Sky or BBC For Masters Coverage
Definitely BBC for me. Alliss always has something interesting to say and Ken Brown (although he does resemble Rowan Atkinson's long-lost brother) is undoubtedly a legend. I get hacked off with all the adverts on Sky and Ewan Murray is a pillock imho.
