International Cricket Captain 2012
Hello guys!
I am considering purchasing the 2012 version of the ICC PC cricket game and just wondered if anybody here has played it and if they think it is worth purchasing! I didn't get the 2011 version so I am in desperate need of an up to date Cricket game!
Thanks in advance
Olly

If that is the manager style game I'm thinking of you can get it on a short trial from the producers website I think.
I bought it a few years back but haven't bothered upgrading it as the new versions have been very lazy IMO. They've simply updated the players on it (sometimes quite poorly) and added a few new features but nothing that really justifies them releasing it as a new game. Sounds harsh but as they've done that for a few years now it's kind of annoying.
It's a shame really as those sort of tenaciously addictive games are a very good way to waste a bit of time during journeys etc!

I bought the game on my old laptop via download and wasn't impressed with it, batters started too aggresively etc and I found it poor, however they may have done an update for it which has improved that but I just loaded cricket captain 3 to my new laptop as its only a year or 2 old

If you want a cricket game on your PC, the best one believe is still the Brian Lara Cricket game that was released in 1999. There is now an unofficial update patch which you can download which will update some of the teams as well as improve/tweak the gameplaying aspects.

Out of all the 3 Brian Lara games that have been released on the PC the other 2 (BLC 2005, BLC 2007) have been huge disappointments despite the better graphics over then BLC 99 version.

I didn't buy either of the others, I had a PS2 so went for EA's cricket games, good games I found.

Re: International Cricket Captain 2012
There's a thread on this in the 'Joypad' section.
They have indeed been lazy, as suggested above, and that is disappointing given the scope for making it a wonderful cricket management game.
Perhaps it is to do with funding.
I still thoroughly enjoy it for a few seasons however, and then it does become a little tedious. A great 'filler' game from time to time.

The best EA Cricket I found was the 2004 version as it seemed to have a lot of features for bowling in particular which other later games didn't have. Also the gameplay aspect itself seemed more realistic than the later versions which to me centered to much around hitting the ball out the park, particularly the Cricket 2007 version.

Re: International Cricket Captain 2012
Don't have the 2012 version, but agree with others that the game hasn't really developed year-on-year.
Compared to its similarly underfunded rival Cricket Coach, Cricket Captain hasn't been very innovative. I'd recommend Cricket Coach which has many more options. However, it too has issues. It seems to crash a lot, and Cricket Captain's gameplay seems to be far more realistic.
Anyway, both are fun fillers from time-to-time when nothing much is on. I got about 50 years on with England in one save some years ago - a period in which they started mediocre, and spent pretty much the whole 50 years mediocre!
