As Kenny said, Ben Cockayne has signed a 12 month contract extension.

A side from the fact I have always liked him, I do think his form in the last 2 season's means that it is warranted.
Maybe not a regular starter but always gives a 100% when called upon.

Excellent news, Shaun Lunt has turned his loan spell into a permanent one, signing for the next 4 years.
How he's played this season, this is really an excellent signing. And given who we got in our squad, Don't think we need to make anymore.

2015 SIGNINGS FOR NEXT YEAR

Dane Tilse from Canberra 2 1/2 year's.
Thomas Minns from Leeds 3 year's.
Iain Thornley from Wigan 2 year's.
Shaun Lunt from Huddersfield 4 year's.

Went out to see the game yesterday, felt for you guys, KR victims IMO of playing in the middle 8's. Leeds last three Hull FC, Warrington, Wigan. Your last three games; Widnes, Leigh & Halifax. Not preparation for a game like that (I think this is one factor in Championship sides struggling against SL in the 8's).

Disappointed I am sure but you did beat good sides to get there. Back on the horse and beat Wakey next week.........please.

To be honest Beast, I thought that other than Briscoe's 1st try (from the stupid short kick off, than woeful defence), we competed quite well in the first half. But after Singletons try the way we threw in the towel was alarming and extremely disappointing. None of our players played well, our pack was very poor, our backs average.
And this sort of ruined the day, as upto that point it had been a good, exciting experience (especially the walk up Wembley way).

I'm going to the Wakefield game, will be intresting to see a) the team he puts out, B) our reaction. Especially seeing as a win will virtually guarantee remaining in SL.
Your game should be intresting, beat Widnes you should be there with us, if not you really need to beat Halifax & Leigh.

I know what you're saying about who we beat to get there, but yesterday just hurts, I didn't expect us to win but I thought that we'd compete.

On a side note, the reception Lizzie Jones received before and after was wonderful.

And not wishing to kick the players when they're down, but.

That's why Dixon is not and never will be a FB (Cockayne should have started yesterday), as exciting as he can be with the ball the mistakes he makes are 2 big for him to be the last line of defence.
Mantellato should be in the center's, he's played very well, but is not quick enough for the wings (personally my back line would be for next year Cockayne, Dixon, Mantellato, Minns, Sio). Welham hasn't played well consistently for a few years, and a move is maybe what he needs. I just don't think Salter is good enough to be a starting center.

Blair while a useful back up and excellent SR is not a half (should have played Chisholm with Kelly), as he's not quick enough with the ball or kicking game is not good enough.

From what I've seen Tilse is poor, and McCarthy is not a lose forward (as Kenny has said really need a proper LF, not a forward that can play there.

I think we have the makings of a good squad, and don't need to add many but, we do need quality to improve a decent starting 13.

I've said already, a quality LF to help Campese and Kelly, and a FB this team can go far.

Looks like you are safe for SL next year and will be after Saturday, I fear a cricket score to be honest. I might go out and find somewhere to watch (radio if not) but after the second half last week v Widnes when whilst on the wrong end of a couple of dubious decisions basically gave up I'm not sure I want to see it! Best I can hope for is a 80 minute effort and at least give your guys a run for their money for 40 - 60 mins.

I'm not so sure, I do think we'll win. But we have only really played well once in the middle 8's so far (Widnes away), we were really poor against Halifax, and both Leigh and Wakefield should have beaten us (as you probably should have in the cup). You play like that again then I think you will do well. But I think it will be closer/better than you think.
Will be intresting to see your side given that the week after is the Leigh game that could define your top 5 place.
Am working so will miss it all.

Just had sight of the bulls team, no Gaskell (bruised kidneys) Mullaney, Blythe (Illness) = Chev Walker at Centre, Adrian Purtell at stand off with Addy at SH, James Mendieka at FB. Fearing the worst to be honest.

KR were not brilliant yesterday to be honest for which I am thankful as Bradford were awful, the gap between the Championship and SL is huge. Dixon might drop some high bombs but at least he ATTEMPTS to catch them unlike the Bulls who appear to hope the bounce goes their way. I was relieved when the final whistle went, painful viewing, to be honest you did not miss much.

You may not have been at your best but I think well above the rest of the qualifier sides, with McCarthy going there an opportunity to look at a new LF and there is a good side there can make the top 8 and shock some of the top sides next year, good luck.

Oh yes, whilst I thought Williams sin bin was harsh Lauaki should have been sent off and will hopefully now be banned for at least 3 - 4 games, terrible incident.

Saw the tries on super league show, Bradford's defence looked abysmal. Which suprised me, but didn't see the rest of the game so don't now how it went.

I think you're right about ourselves and Widnes, when we play we look very good, but even when not playing well we find a way to win. Which the rest can't seem to even look like winning.

I've said all along (during the complaints), we have the makings of a good squadand side, and only need a couple to improve this team. Though when you look at the signings of the top 8, will take a massive effort not to be in the middle 8's again next year, and some luck with regards injuries, but there's no reason e can't get there if we improve.

Also agree about Lauaki's thing, disgusting and brain dead as there was absolutely no need.

As Beast says, a year after joining from Australian club football, Tyronne McCarthy will be leaving at the end of the season to try his luck in the NRL with St George for 2 years. Though his figures are outstanding with regards tackles, meters etc, and he's certainly a tryer. We perhaps needed someone with a bit more skill, he's done well, but not brilliant. Though I wish him all the best.

2015 - LEAVERS

Michael Weyman - Retired.
Darrell Goulding - Retired.
Ryan Bailey - Released.
Tyronne McCarthy - St George.
Keal Carlile - Sheffield.
Connor Robinson - Halifax.

I'm going to tonight's game at Sheffield (Hoping for a cracker).

Also Beast, good luck in tomorrow's game, should be a cracker, providing Bradford turn up of course.

I forgot to add, that after 10 years and a 189 appearances Kris Welham has been released by Rovers.

Having seen him during all that time I actually think this is the right move for both the club and player, as I've already said a few times on this thread.
When he first arrived on the scene, he was quick exciting and scored tries for fun (though the fact he hardly passed to his winger helped in this respect), but for the last couple of years he's looked stale and a shadow of that player. The start of this season he was excellent. Nut the last couple of months he's gone back., and I feel that a move could be what he needs to regain his form.

Whatever happens, I wish him all the best for the rest of his career (unless he joins FC, then that goes out the window), and thank him for his good times.

Tony Puletua played his last game last night before retiring (and had an excellent game).
He has been fantastic for Rovers, arguably our beat forward. And other than his spat with Salford, has had a fantastic career.
I wish him the best with whatever he chooses to do now.

Reports have you signing Ryan Shaw from Bradford who is Out of Contract. Very good attacking player, kicks goals pretty well blindfolded. Perhaps this suggests as you have that Mantellato will move to Centre with Shaw wing/FB. IMO opinion however his defence and dealing with high kicks need some work otherwise I suspect he will be "found out" in SL.

Possibily not, as rumors at Friday's game is that there are other clubs looking at Mantellato (& Sio), and that he could be moving on in the off season.

Not sure about this, we are pretty well covered in those positions (though that's never stopped Rovers before), and Dixon's kicking was impressive. If it's a choice between being a squad player for us, or a first team player with you, I sort of hope that he stays with you to improve his game.

And Rovers bring in there 5th new signing. As Chris Clarkson joins from Leeds. This is another solid signing in a position that we have quite a few solid players when what we need is a very good one, though I hope he proves me wrong.

2016 SEASON SIGNINGS.

Shaun Lunt from Huddersfield for 4 Years.
Thomas Minns from Leeds for 3 Years.
Chris Clarkson from Leeds for 3 years.
Iain Thornley from Wigan for 2 years.
Dane Tilse from Canberra for 2 years.

Rovers loose 2 more youngsters. As Sonny Esslemont leaves the club to join Keighley.
And more disappointing is That Josh Guzdek leaves to join Dewsbury. I saw his first game for the club when he looked promising, and he was featured in quite a few publications as our youngster to watch. And apparently he been playing very well at Keighley on loan, I thought he had a good future at the club and would be our full back for years to come. Obviously I was wrong.

2015 LEAVERS

Michael Weyman - Retired.
Darrell Goulding - Retired.

Tyronne McCarthy - St George.

George,
Not sure about Tilse as he's been poor most of the games I've seen this season (and I'm not the only one to think so.
Agree about the others, and with the squad we've already got, it looks a competitive squad.
Still think given who the top 8 have, that it will be hard to break into it next years, but there's hope.

Should have also put, Rovers have signed Bradford back Ryan Shaw on a 2 year contract.
Really not sure about this, as off the top of my head we already have- Dixon, Sio, Mantellato, Cockayne, Salter, Minns, Thornley, Marsh, Kelly, Campese. With Horne and Blair who can also play there. So can't really see him getting much game time (especially not on short contract), and to be honest would rather have kept Guzdek.

2016 SEASON SIGNINGS

Shaun Lunt - Huddersfield - 4 Years.
Thomas Minns - Leeds - 3 Years.
Chris Clarkson - Leeds - 3 Years.

Rovers have signed forward James Greenwood (who was on loan last season) to a permanent deal.
This isn't a bad deal in my opinion. After losing Puletua we needed some beef in our props, he young been schooled properly at Wigan, hungry and improved with appearances last year.
And that's 3 young English players, which we don't normally do.

SIGNINGS FOR 2016

Shaun Lunt - Huddersfield - 4 Years.

Rovers have signed young forward George Lawler to a 2 year contract. Having seen 2 of his 3 games (he was excellent against Salford), this is a good signing and if he continues to learn he should become a feature of the Rovers pack for years to come.

But disappointingly Aaron Ollett has left the club and joined Keighley. He was coming along nicely and played quite a few games last year, and was playing well.
You can't blame him, given our squad and some of our close season signings it was hard to see we're he was going to get game time. I just wish Rovers would keep there young talent and build a squad around them, mix youth with experience its not done Leeds, Wigan or Saints any harm.

Another 2 players have left Craven Park.
As back MacCauley Hallett has left to join Swinton, after a disappointing 2015 which saw him make no appearances following him bursting on to the scene at the end of 2014.
And forward Jordan Cox has joined Warrington on a 2 year contract after falling down the pecking order. Which is a shame given his performance's when he first got in the squad.

2015 LEAVERS

Michael Weyman - Retired.
Darrell Goulding - Retired.
Tony Puletua - Retired.

MacCauley Hallett - Swinton.

Kris Welham - released.

Kris Welham who was released by Rovers has joined Bradford so all the best for him.

Rovers have announced that they are to play 2 pre season games. These will be against Hull FC & Huddersfield (which will be David Hodgson testimonial game).

Rovers have also revealed there 2016 home shirt.
This is white, with a red band across the chest, and red collar. And is quite smart.

Living where I do (not far from Leeds/Bradford airport), I have heard good things about both him and Minns. I don't think they will get alot of game time this season but hopefully they'll go on to be 1st team regulars for future years.

Chris Chester gets sacked.

Feel for him slightly, as with the injuries he's had to deal with makes it hard. And at ťhe start of last season we were playing entertaining rugby. And given that we got to Wembley and went through ťhe middle 8's unbeaten and ťhat he only really had one season (plus a couple of months as caretaker), this does seem a bit harsh.

But given how badly we tailed off at the end of the regular SL season, our no show at Wembley, the fact we didn't really play well in ťhe 8's. And how we're playing at the moment (were we are already a guarantee for ťhe middle 8's again), it's not all that suprising.

It will never come out, but it would be intresting to see how much of a role Jamie peacock has had in this. Especially if poaching gets ťhe job, given there relationship.

George Lawler has signed a new 4 year deal with ťhe club.

Also it's intresting reading the tweets of alot of ťhe younger players who left ťhe club thís year (a few I wish had stayed), fair to say ťhat there's quite abit of bitterness towards Chester from them.

Rovers sign up 3 more of there youngsters as Matty Marsh (2 years), Kieran Moran (3 years), & Joe Wardill (4 years), all sign new contracts.

Marsh & Moran have appeared quite a few times this season and not let anybody down. And I approve of this move.

James Donaldson has signed a new 1 year deal (with a year option), really don't get this option part. Either sign him to a 2 year deal or don't.

Whilst I'm not against this deal, and think he's not a bad player. As I've said on the rumor thread, given that we seem to be linked with alot of forwards, and the amount of forwards we already have.
Its hard to see him being anything other than a back up player.

Rovers have signed young back David Thompson from Warrington for the rest of
the season.

This is required, not just because of the injuries. But also because Oakes and Wardill are away for the next month on the academy tour to Australia.

Willie poaching will be leaving the club at the end of the season, when his contract runs out.

Paving the way for James Webster to remain at the club as an assistant coach when we finally get round to naming our new coach.

I still keep hearing rumours that Steve McNamara has/will be offered the Robins coaching job for next season, thoughts?

I personally don't want him. When we play well is when we play in an unstructured way, with Mobile forwards, which is not his way at all. I don't think he's done anything in coaching that makes me think he's the coach to take rovers forward either.

Not sure if it has been mentioned elsewhere on these pages but Terry Matterson has been linked to the KR job.

Is he still involved in Rugby League?
I know his son has played for the Roosters this season

Rovers have finally got round to naming there new coach. As Australian Tim Sheens will move from Salford's director of rugby to join on a 3 year deal

in my opinion, it's hard to find anything wrong with thís appointment, other than his age (he's 66 next month).

I think Jamie Peacock can consider himself lucky not to get a ban, but that's just my opinion.

Saw today's game, pretty well speechless at the end, sickened for you. Not that there is a good way to be relegated but that should not happen.

You won't want to hear this but all is not lost, it will be a tough couple of months but keep supporting your team the Championship is a good albeit different competition. You'll think all the players will go, they won't and you'll be strong contender to make it back next year.

A heartbreaking way for Rovers not only to lose the game but their Super League status as well.
I guess that's knock out football. If you win your ecstatic, but if you lose your heart broken

Losing Green to Leigh I think you will need a couple of real meat-head props. Kind of barely human individuals who need locking away all week and unleashing on match day with the promise of steaks (raw) if you win. Like me really.

They will probably have to go to Australia to fine them and in my opinion there is the problem for Rovers and has been for some time to many imports IMO.

Thanks Beast,
took a while to get over how we lost, but if I'm honest we've deserved to go down most of the season. And if you only win 1 of 4 home games in the middle 8's.

I'm not going to abandon them, and am already looking forward to next season. Lots of grounds in west Yorkshire, and that I haven't been to for 11+ years. See Toulouse (providing about work obviously), hopefully Oldham stay at Bowers Field as that's a new ground, and one id like to go to, and it looks an intresting division. Playing mostly on Sundays, new shirt makers, there's alot to look forward to.

As for Green, strange move, given the forwards Leigh have already, and who they signed. But I hope it works out.

Nick Scruton has joined Rovers from Wakefield for next year (exactly the type of player we need for next year). Ben Cockayne, Liam Salter, Mike Marsh, Chris Clarkson, George Lawler, Shaun Lunt, Maurice Blair, Thomas Minns are all staying for next year. And apparently a few others will be.

Hopefully next year will be a great year, but whatever happens I'll still be going when I can.

Great news, James Greenwood has agreed to stay with the club next season.

And Mitch Clark and Danny Addy have also confirmed there switch from Bradford for at least next season.

Meanwhile Terry Campese (back to OZ), Ian Thornley (Catalan), and Adam Walker (Saints). Have all left the club.

And our game for the bash, will be Bradford last game on the Sunday.

I'll never lose the faith George. I followed them when they were in a lot worse situation then this. Rugby league is the best sport in the world, and where ever Rovers are whatever division if I can I'll be there to support them.
