Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Thanks, it was needed to just get back to winning ways.
Niall Evalds has signed.
Interesting, as personally think his best position is full back. And with Hiku already playing there, he will be pushed to the wing which I don't feel we will get the best out him. Good signing, got pace which we need. Hopefully does well.
Also looks like we'll have a completely new back line, for the first time in a few seasons.
2023 NEW SIGNINGS
Back - Corey Hall from Wakefield till 2025.
Back - Peta Hiku from North Queensland till 2026.
Back - Oliver Gildart from Dolphins till 2026.
Back - Tyronne May from Catalans till 2025.
Back - Niall Evalds from Castleford till 2025.
Frwrd - AJ Wallace from Bradford till 2025.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Jack Walker who is on loan/ joined for reest of the season with Rovers at the moment, and has played well. Will be joining Hull FC (he was there on loan last season) next year.
No surprise, with who Rovers have signed for next year was always going to be leaving, and has done a decent job for the club.

Jimmy Keinhorst will be released at the end of the season. Not a regular, but a very good pro who when called upon always does well, can play a number of positions, will be missed. Good luck where ever he ends up.

Keinhorst will get offers that I am sure of, solid player with utility value.
Congrats on making the playoffs, the only period it looked doubtful was due to injuries, could be dark horses for the GF?

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
It's been a brilliant season, play offs and a Wembley appearance way more than I thought we'd get. As for GF, we've hit form at the right time, but still think it's Wigan v Catalans or St Helens one of them 3, as just don't think we could beat them away yet. A chance yes, but a slim one.The Beast wrote:Keinhorst will get offers that I am sure of, solid player with utility value.

Next year will continue with loop fixtures.
Rovers rumoured fixtures will be Leeds & promoted team at home. Hull fc & Warrington away, with Catalans at magic.

Rovers in an unusual move have released next year's home shirt.
It white, with red arms and band to the collar. With a red band around the middle, and looks smart.

Rovers have signed Leeds youngster Neil Tchamambe, who's a back presumably to play in the academy side at the moment.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Just got back to the hotel, after being at tonight's play off game, which Rovers won 20-6.
Thought Rovers played really well. Where good on attack in 1st half, and in the 2nd when Leigh started playing really well there defence which was good all night, stepped up to become better.
Packed crowd, really good and entertaining game. Rovers winning, couldn't ask for anything more.

I saw the game, I thought KR played a very controlled game and aside from a period in the second half when Leigh inevitably had some possession looked very comfortable all night. Onto Wigan Saturday afternoon, tall order but I think KR have a good record against them, not impossible.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Sam Wood has left the club. Joining Castleford on a 3 year deal.
A signing we didn't really need, who had a terrible debut. But battled back and was a useful utility, and gave his all. Not featured this year so no surprise really.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Good luck today. Tough game at Wigan no question. I would like to see more of the usual KR open, off the cuff style of play, I am not sure the controlled style that beat Leigh will work v the Warriors.

It's not so far, Wigan 30-6 up at start of 2nd half. Some strange decisions (Marshall hat trick was a knock on), and don't know why when Abdul came on Schnider wasn't taken off. But French & Field having a field day, both too good from Rovers.

Yes, I saw the game, start to both halves killed any chance. Shame to finish that way but IMO does not define what has been a positive season.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Agree it's a massive step forward, Wigan were the better side, there forwards gave the platform for there star players. But overall it's been a good season.
Brian Stow will become Roveers new head of rugby, leaving South Sydney to take up the role.
And our other mid season till end of season signing (Jack Walker has already left), Brad Schnider will be leaving to go to Penrith. Other than his 2 golden point winning drop goals, not really sure he showed his worth.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Tom Opacic has signed a new 2 year contract extension (till 2026), a solid season which hopefully he will improve and move forward with.
Rowan Milnes has left the club, joining Castleford on a 2 year deal. Again, no surprise as was never going ro get much game time after May signing. Occasionally very good, but never really showed enough or was consistent enough.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Another departure.
Rhys Kennedy has left the club with immediate effect, seemed okay didn't do much wrong. And hopefully he gets a new club soon (Salford are rumoured).
But the main reason for his release,
Rovers have announced the signing of Jai Whitbread from Wakefield (we needed a quota place, that's why Kennedy has gone). Whitehead has been brilliant since joining Trinity, and is a great signing.

Assistant coach Danny Mcguire has left the club. And joined Castleford as an assistant. Been good for Rovers, but surprised he's only gone as an assistant.
And Wil Dagger who left mid season to Wakefield, has left them and joined York on a 3 year deal.

The rumour is that McGuire was offered the Head Coach role but turned it down, doesn't really make sense but who knows we all have our reasons.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Another departure, and this year's why signing.
Ethan Ryan has left the club to join Salford. I liked Ethan, really improved in his years at the club, gave his all. And I wish him all the success at Salford.
The signing is Reiss Butterworth. Who was league 1 player of the year, and a really good player. So the why is he signed a 1 year deal (with a year option), but plays in a position (hooker), that not only are Rovers really strong in, so can't see him getting any game time. And given Dewsbury promotion think it would have probably been better for him to stay at that club so Don't see why Rovers have signed him.

Congratulations on the positive IMG gradings, I was pleased to see that KR have been rewarded for their efforts on and perhaps more importantly off the field. I am a bit surprised neighbours FC are so close.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Not really,
Apart from not owning the stadium, Hull have a very good off field, and different teams structure in place. Plus crowds, etc. To be honest didn't really understand marks of grading, London being so low etc.
Rovers away kit is blue. And looks decent, for a change 2 good kits to choose from.
Ethan Ryan has been confirmed to Salford. As said before, like him, always gave 100% and improved massively.
Luis Johnson has also been released this is in no way a surprise.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
3 more leavers, and 1 signing.
Leavers,
Harvey Reynolds and Jack Potter have left to join York. Both youngsters, and seeing as we're not that good at promoting and given youngsters games. Probably the best for there careers.
The big one is Kane Linnett has retired, a solid good player. Always gave 100%, and definitely in the top 10 overseas signings since the club joined sl, if not top 5 which shows how good he was over his 5 years.

It's interesting that after a successful season last year. There have been a lot of coming and goings. Not that I'm disagreeing, although of the leavers were not going to play, and just be there. Whilst the signings are to replace the leavers, also add quality and are good signings.
Just the upheaval, especially if you add in a new head of rugby, 1 assistant leaving and a new 1. It is all pointing to an interesting and exciting time ahead.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Jordan Abdull has left the club and joined Catalans on a season long loan. Which given his contract is till 2026, would indicate Eovers are willing to let him go for a fee.
Given his injury record (he's never played more than 14 games a season in his 4 years), and the fact we've got May & Lewis, him leaving pprobably not a big surprise.

Rovers add winger Joe Burgess from Salford on a year deal.
He's a finisher, but really not what we needed, in a position we have cover. So not sure why.

Well got my ticket for the away Derby 1st game of the season. Should be a good time, if you take away the nerves, anxiety and crowd trouble.

Should be a good game, crowd trouble no-one wants and needs to be dealt with, I include Bradford who were fined for inappropriate chants made towards James Child.
Really pleased for Minchella to get the Captains armband. He was excellent at Bradford, good to see him thriving in a full time environment.

He's been outstanding at Rovers, really deserves it.The Beast wrote:Luke wrote:Well got my ticket for the away Derby 1st game of the season. Should be a good time, if you take away the nerves, anxiety and crowd trouble.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Rovers win easily.
Defensively absolutely outstanding, at no point did Hull look like scoring. Offensively still need abit of work, which will come when the players get to know each other better. But full value for the easy win. Good team performance.
The 2 Hull sending offs, the first is plain dumb. The 2nd whilst also dumb, was more reactionary. Both fully deserved, as were the sin binnings which again both dumb.
Whilst being at the game, watching Rovers win, was great. Wish it was more of a game.

And it's fairly obvious we need someone else as our goal kicker, Hiku really isn't the answer.Luke wrote:Rovers win easily.

Should also add, what I put about our attack I stand by, but to score 5 tries when not at your best, shows steel and should scare teams.
And as I put, wish it was more of a game, as bad as Hull were, Rovers were dominant and full deserved the 2 points, but it was abit boring watching a 1 sided game especially in a Derby for the first game. Obviously ecstatic Rovers won.

Sam Luckley. Has signed a contract extension till the end of 2027 season.
Solid 1st year, good to see him continue to be at the club.

Always nice to beat the neighbours!! With regarding to kicking having seen a couple of Hiku, I am sure he will get better in better conditions but Minchella kicked a few whilst at Bradford. He's not Danny Brough but won't head for the corner flag.

Re: HULL KINGSTON ROVERS THREAD PART 2.
Rovers have made 2 signings, 1 straight away, and 1 for next year.
The one from straight away is half back Ben Reynolds on a 2 year deal.
The one for next year is Jared Warer-Hargreaves. Who is leaving Sydney Roosters after 15 years. Nor sure about this one, as a name excellent. And he's been a great player over his career. But we have alot of forwards already next year, not sure we need another one.

Ben Reynolds is a very sensible signing IMO with Jordan Abdul moving on. Waerea-Hargreaves, yes he is 35 but look how Kenny-Dowall went for KR. If is is 75% of the player he was it will be an excellent signing + the impact and influence he could have on what appears to be an excellent culture.

I agree about Reynolds, though where Lewis plays becomes interesting.
Warera-Hargreaves I agree, just not sure given the forwards we have weather he was a need (for example AJ Wallace will at best manage a couple of games in his 2 years). Off field great, on field nor sure we needed him.
