I'm wondering if I am wron on this, so out of interest, who is the better centre back based on present form and ability - Chiellini or Howedes?

Howedes has better current form, but Chiellini has the reputation and the higher value.

Howedes at cb as part of a back 4, chiellini as lcb as part of a back 3

Put it this way, if I were choosing someone for my team I'd have Chiellini without a shadow of a doubt.

I don't know Trebs, the differences in value are too big.

I'd rather spend £16m on Howedes than £25m on Chiellini.

Ask anyone who their top five centre backs in the world are, most would put Chiellini up there with the best. Howedes is a good centre back but he's not up there with the very best yet.

For what reason though. Because you think he is better or because Chiellini's rating still reflects his form from 3 years ago?

I'm not trying to influence CF as it is pretty clear he doesn't want to sell Chiellini so more out of pure interest. For me Howedes has been the far better player for 2 or 3 years, whereas Chiellini was world class a few years ago and is therefore more highly rated on the leagues

Ie if you had to pick one to play for United, it should be Howedes by a mile at the moment

Are you sure? Chiellini would not make the top 10 IMO ATM. He's not even in the top 2 at Juve at present.

Chiellini's not been in the top two CB's at Juventus because he's injured. Seems obvious.

When I last watched him play properly was at Euro 2012, and I think that's the case for most of us on here (unless anyone here follows Serie A regularly) and he put in good performances.

He was averag at the euros. And he hasn't been injured until two weeks ago. H has played a lot of the last two years but both Barzagli and Bonucci have outperformed him.

I seriously think that SAF would go for Howedes ahead Chiellini ( he would prefer Silva or Himmels ideally )

Was offering purely for my Italian quota as I am a bit low on Italian starters. Only Verratti and Buffon are definate starters an if one is injured I have to start dropping first choice players in favour of an Italian

However from our discussions I have realised something and will probably change my target anyway

Monrel is a good signing for Arsenal. He been playing well this season so far.......Sadly I think thats all going to change now.
+ he cant play CL. Too many Arsenal fan on twitter last night moaning how hes CL tied so Robben will be up against Santos (Gibbs out) so there going out the CL. They need a wake up call, Bayern have much much more than just Robben for them to worry about. Sagna/Jenkinson up against Ribery. Gomez up against Metrz or Kos. Muller, Kroos, the list goes on.

mmm not sure, but watch out for big games,
e.g potenialy for the Capital one cup final stock up on bradford player before, hand if they win they will sky rocket in value.

last year after nick powell scored that wonder goal in the play-off final he went from a 200 Buy Now to a 2k player and then even higher with his move to united.

if a player becomes a hot commodity people will wnat him, and if people want him his price will increase.
