6 Nations KO times and Club Games?
I can't believe that some clubs are playing at the same time as their national side. I'm sure this doesn't happen in Wales yet I see the whole english league playing and the LV teams during the 6 Nations matches. I'd be interested in your thoughts on this as I would have thought that the players would want to watch the games in addition to no one turning out for the club games to watch as a consequence of watching the big games. I appreciate a couple of matches just finish before the international KO but my view is that club games should be taboo during international matches. Just my view but surely most keen rugby players would want to watch their national side

So no problems for anyone - interesting - if I had to play on international day I'd have a calf strain

Thankfully, my rugby days are behind me, so I can sit back and watch other people get injured for once!

Not 100% but they often have relatively normal attendances. Some may have big screens for England games extra. But international rugby isn't the be all and end all. LV cup is important as well

there aren't enough weekends in the year to have international weekends free of club games.
The best compromise in my view would be to ensure that AP games are not played on the same day as an England game, so this weekend for example English clubs would play on the Sunday or Friday but not the Saturday, or at the very least make sure that club games KO before or after the international.

That's exactly what I was thinking - it just seems to make sense

Would midweek matches work, for the LV for example?

Yeah, and grassroots players couldn't possibly afford a day off and the ticket prices...

I agree with you Guby. Rugby needs to forget all this corporate nonsense and look to its past. I don't want to turn the clock back, but sometimes you have to look at what happened when the game sorted itself out for hints.

In Glynneath in the 70's they didn't ask for more money for playing they just wore bigger boots to the game

Its not so much playing on International match days more the scheduling of kick off times.
I always remember that if a game fell on a Wales match day then our club game would be brought forward giving us enough time to play shower etc then get smashed in bar with the opposing team.
Ohhhhh those were the days lol

You know whats worse - when teams have options of playing but won't do it.
In Limerick I know there's a match kicking off at 14:00 this Saturday. Wales v Ireland is at 13:30 so both teams will miss it.
A request was made to change the kick of times but the home team refused it saying that the time suits them.
The idiots would be better off kicking off late morning and having a full clubhouse for the afternoon as people watch the 6 Nations.

I am annoyed that when we play Sarries in Feb, the kick off time is 8pm on a Saturday - so that it can be televised and not clash with 6Ns televised games.
I would rather watch tigers than an international anyway - but none of our matches clash with Englands. Big screens are up in the bars round the ground so fans can watch the England match before/after the live game and boost the club revenues. Win/win all round.
I have never heard of Junior Clubs not doing something similar - until that earlier post.
