32 teams in 32 days (The Lions were popular): Cleveland Browns
Record: 5-11
Offensive Rank: 25th (Passing: 19th, Rushing: 25th)
Defensive Rank: 23rd (Passing: 25th, Rushing: 19th)
What went well?
Trent Richardson was a workhorse, Josh Gordon came on strong down the stretch. D'Qwell Jackson was D'Qwell Jackson. Sheard had an nice season as a pass rusher.
What went wrong?
Weeden wasn't a fit for Shurmur/wasn't very good, nobody else stepped up as an offensive weapon. Taylor's injury hurt up front, as did Haden's suspension.
Prospects for 2013?
Wholesale changes throughout the organisation bring fresh optimism to Cleveland. Then they hired Mike Lombardi. That aside, Chudzinski mightve been underwhelming but Norv Turner and Ray Horton are 2 top assistants, and should get more out of Brandon Weeden. The Browns are moving back to a 3-4 which should bring some interesting fits. Ultimately the AFC North seems too strong overall for the Browns to make inroads this season, but pushing towards .500 should be a realistic target.
Projected 2013 draft pick?
The Browns are converting to a 3-4 and while I can see the scheme fits up front, there really isnt a pass rushing LB on the squad. No offensive weapons available, so Jarvis Jones is a slam dunk pick for me here,

Still cant believe weeden was taken in the first last year, he's so old and bad. Still need some help at receiver too.

The Browns have some good talent if they can get the final pieces in like a proper QB and a true number 1 WR.
Their division may be opening up a little for them too. The Steelers and Ravens are both aging and changing and the Bengals, while strong, aren't an elite team.

Less Brandon Weeden. More Colt McCoy. That's my diagnosis

If they were trading a high pick for anyone they would surely be looking at someone who has done something and has some NFL experience.

I'm fairly confident Norv Turner will want Alex Smith. I'd offer Alex and a third round pick for Josh Gordon in March when the new season starts

I'm sure as a 49ers fan you would. Chudzinski likes a downfield passing attack so dumping his best/only deep threat for a guy with a bad deep ball probably isn't that enticing.

They can have Palmer if they want! Getting ever more likely that he departs Oakland sooner rather than later I think.

Since when did Cleveland do things that were good for them

Must admit, if I'm any team with an interest in Alex Smith then I would play a patient game and wait until the 49ers feel compelled to release him. Yeah it might decrease your chances of getting him cos then he has all the say over where he goes or someone else might end up panicking and making the trade but he's not so special that you absolutely have to him and therefore end up giving up a lot to get him.

I see the Browns have been heavily linked with Mike Wallace.

I wouldn't necessarily see the point in opening the bank vault for Wallace with Gordon pretty similar playing for peanuts. Jennings would be the smarter signing but it seems he's going to Miami

With Norv and Alex Smith having a history together, I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up in Cleveland.
