Rees owns Broner. Empty Rees owns Broner.

Post by hampo17 Thu 14 Feb 2013, 8:57 pm

At yesterday's press conference to promote Saturday's Atlantic City fight with Gavin Rees, Broner tried to belittle the Welsh challenger, referring to him as 'Cabbage Rees' and saying he didn't know his name.

After the passing tumbleweed had been cleared and publicity matters concluded, it appears that 'The Rock' had the last laugh as the fighters left the building - at least according to Rees' trainer, Gary Lockett.

"So, after Adrien Broner disrespecting Gavin Rees in yesterdays Press Conference in New York," Lockett posted on his Facebook account, "my personal highlight was after the Presser, we were outside on the street and Broner has walked up to Gavin Rees and said 'you better be f**kin' ready Cabbage Rees'?

"Gav said 'go and pull your jeans from up around your ankles you f**king muppet' So Broner has not known what to say, then muttered 'gonna f**k you up', then, flustered, he has jumped into his chauffer driven people carrier and dropped his phone on the pavement and smashed it!!!

"We were all rolling around laughing!!! This Broner is possibly the most disrespectful guy in Boxing."

Let's see who has the last laugh!!!

Lockett should know all about being overmatched and completely trashed so he'll have some one to confide in!!!

20/1 for Rees to win is ridiculous considering he's never really been beaten up. Course, i know they're at very different levels technically, and that good, brave British fighters have a habit of getting beaten up over the pond, but i still don't think that price is realistic, Rees is very, very tough, and Broner's not fought too many world class operators (i'm not claiming Rees is one).

Technically, i'm a Broner fan. Personally, i don't understand why he's going down the Mini Mayweather route. His ability should speak for itself, but he seems eager to develop almost WWE-like persona. Not really a fan of that. I'll always side with the genuine guy over the showpony.

Has a Corrales vs Mayweather sort of feel about it. Although am doing Chico a huge disservice by comparing him to Rees who's beaten next to nowt.

Massive beat down, which is a shame as Rees appears and has always seemed to come across as a nice guy. Just can't see where he matches Broner in any dept

That price is a huge dis-service to Boxing let alone Rees. What does that say about the bouts being made if they think it's that wide?

I would love to see Broner have to dig deep in the trenches and have to war with Rees but I don't see it personally but I wish Gavin all the best for this fight.

Highlighted the humour there that Americans would not understand but this is what a lot of British think about these gangsta rap type individuals in America. Still I see Rees getting broken down in style and then the ref stopping the fight after yet another brave , couragous effort from a Brit.

Quite simply down to money, when you look at how much money Pernell Whitacker made in comparison to Mayweather it becomes understandable.

People are becoming simple as well so this type of thing is what appeals to their shorter attention spans rather than someone trading just on their skills.

Don't think Rees has much of a chance in this one but at 20-1 it could be worth a little flutter.

Broner is a tool no doubt but this is boxing and if you can back it up in the ring(where it really matters) then crack on. Few boxers pull it off but the likes of Ali, Hamed, and Mayweather have and we respect them all don't we.

Broner is an absolute tool, and dull as dishwater too IMO. He just doesn't have 'it' personality wise. Almost as bad as De Gale. He's a Floyd wannabe and, whilst he may have 70%+ of his talent he has less than 10% of his charisma.

Highlighted at a recent bout (can't quite remember which, possibly Froch-Mack) when Sky got him up having already spoken to Ward. Whereas SOG was articulate interesting and intelligent, this little numpty seemed practically retarded.
