EPL vs La Liga
I say it is La Liga is better defensively and is the better league all round.
They have the better players and their clubs at the moment more dominant on a European level.
I have said the Premiership for my money was the top league a couples years back, but now La Liga has taken over.
Not much in it but the European games, in the last two years have proved La Liga's superiority.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
La Liga has the best team in Barcelona. But the Premier League have the better teams.Every season its between Barcelona and Madrid which isn't a bad thing but there at the top because all of the other teams are poor.Valencia arn't the same without Villa and Silva.Athletico haven't been the same since they lost Torres.Barcelona IMO is the best team in europe but the La Liga isn't just about one club. While the Premier League have a number of big sides,Arsenal,Chelsea,Tottenham,Man Utd,Man City,Tottenham. The Premier League makes for a better league because you just never know whos going to win it because theres that many top sides but with La Liga you always know its going to be Barcelona or Madrid.

Since 2004 its been Man Utd/Chelsea and that looks like it will continue like that.
Anyway the Bundesliga is the best league in the world.

Players that Man City have I wouldn't be surprised if they won it.Tottenham have proved at the best level that there a brilliant team and with Redknapp in charge there producing a strong team that can challenge for the Prem.
Re: EPL vs La Liga
I think that the premier league is becoming more open in terms of top teams because there are at least now six big sides. Whereas in La Liga it really a two horse race, more like the spl.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
The difference between the EPL and the La Liga is that in the EPL you could have the likes of Stoke, Wolves etc beating Chelsea and Man United whenever they play each other. However in La Liga it is very rare for Barcelona and Real Madrid to lose to the teams at the bottom of the table. EPL is just miles more competitive than La Liga which in my case makes it a better league.

la liga is nothing compare to epl, the epl is much better as you never know what is going to happen. In the la liga you know the top 2 teams arent going to lose points to bottom teams.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
Ok the top 4 from each league play in the champions league but how does the next tier down do from each league in the Uefa Cup.
2009–10 ESP Atlético Madrid 2–1† Fulham ENG
2008–09 UKR Shakhtar Donetsk 2–1† Werder Bremen GER
2007–08 RUS Zenit Saint Petersburg 2–0 Rangers SCO
2006–07 ESP Sevilla 2–2* Espanyol ESP
2005–06 ESP Sevilla 4–0 Middlesbrough ENG
2004–05 RUS CSKA Moscow 3–1 Sporting CP POR
2003–04 ESP Valencia 2–0 Marseille FRA
2002–03 POR Porto 3–2† Celtic SCO
2001–02 NED Feyenoord 3–2 Borussia Dortmund GER
And this year Braga v Benfica and Villarreal v FC Porto are still left in.
As we can see the EPL has a very poor showing in the last years but La Liga has excelled with winning the competition 4 times, beating EPL opposition in the final twice.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
Barcelona and Real Madrid aside the other top sides in La Liga would struggle to make top 6 in the EPL. Barca and Real are pretty dominant and don't slip up very often the Premiership is more exciting throughout the league.
Most exciting league is the Bundesliga the standard of football is excellent and title winners can come out of nowhere not always the same old names going for the title.

EPL teams have a shocking record in the UEFA cup/Europa League. Athletico Madrid have had a poor season this year and despite Villareal looking like finishing 4th in La Liga the have been very inconsistent. Their just hasn't been enough quality from the rest to push them.

Every FA in the world should look at the Bundesliga and see how football should be run.

The Championship is the best league
the hardest league to predict, even just on weekly games, who would have thought Preston and Sheffield Utd would be going down

Got to agree that the Bundesliga is run superbly and the winner is never set in stone. Dortmund won last night and at the start of the season they weren't even mentioned in the title race. Brilliant.

Steve they get great crowds and have some of the best stadiums in Europe. They are strict on debt now as well which has maed it more competitive.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
La Liga have the best technically talented sides, and generally they play in a way that lends itself to European tournaments. The English sides outside of the top 4/5 don't take the Europa League seriously enough, nor do they have the tactical nous and style of play to win it.
That said, I think many of Spain's mid-table to lower half teams are poor compared to our own in the PL and that the top 2 sides have an unshakeable monopoly on the title.
Personally speaking, I have always enjoyed Italian football the most, though I can't say that their league is the cream of the crop right now.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
La Liga is less competitive than the EPL the title race is between 2 teams with Valencia a certainty for third. Their isn't even a decent race for the Champions league places.
La Liga is the standout league mainly because of two players Messi and Ronaldo the two best players in the World at two clubs in direct competition.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
I think the EPL is more exciting cause of our basketball like approach, we attack you then you attack us with little build up play.
La Liga is far more technical with the emphisis on possession with gradual build up play and more organised defending.
Which is better depends on what you like to see.

Re: EPL vs La Liga
My main problem with La Liga is that the refs there stop the game as often as you would an american football game. English refs are encouraged to let the game flow and let more of the physical stuff happen. Slick movement and passing is great to watch but a physical game can be just as exciting and the epl does it better.

Sounds like you'd love the Steelers vs Ravens in NFL. Physical game is an understatement.
