They should just accept doping and let everyone do it.

Not particularly tongue in cheek by all accounts, but pretty obnoxious comment. Only the good guys don't use drugs so let's all use them.

I get the impression that Thompson will be retired by the end of this weekend - he knows it, so he's just trying to bring the obvious widespread abuse to yet more people's attention.
The way he's done it makes him look like a prize plank though...

I disagree with Thompson. The sport and all sport should be kept clean.

With the lack of controls that are in place now I wouldn't really blame people for having that view... I'd confidently say that at least half of boxers dope but never get tested.

In one way, you can see where he's coming from, because right now, we literally don't actually know as to whether certain fighters are doping or aren't, this way we would know that there isn't a massive unfair advantage to fighter A against fighter B.
However, I disagree with it, because ethically speaking it's just plain wrong. A fight shouldn't have the possibility of hinging on who had the best pharmacist, rather than who put in the work and who was able to push there bodies the most in training by using natural supplements and there "God given talents" so to speak.

Agree with Thomspon.
The notion of clean sport is total fantasy in the modern day.

Re: Tony Thompson on doping.
Its common knowledge that boxing as with ALL sports will have athletes doping in some capacity or another. The problem with boxing and not 95% of all other sports is. Lives are at risk, boxing should step up and just hand out instant life bans on anyone caught doping/cheating in anyway. If anyone was to be severly injured or even killed and after the fight the opponent doing the damage fails/failed a drug test imo, he should face a manslaughter charge minimum!!!
Dish out tough punishment and the majority of people will go clean/cleaner if not fully clean to chance their arm, or just quit the sport cos they know they cant cut it. Boxing organizations make me sick with their lacklustre approach to drugs in their sport. And comments like this are not helping. Imo comments like this should also be punished, percentage of prize monay next fight, giving to anti-doping agencies due to a complete lack of respect for boxing.

Unfortunately this seems to be fast coming the case. I read a couple of interesting articles from Dana white on the subject of TRT recently. It seems that so many mma fighters in America are now prescribed it, & lets face it its not only going to be mma fighters using its going to be in all sports, that the present testing system is inadequate. Dana said he thinks that guys are abusing it big time in training and then tapering it off in fight camp to get levels back to the ellavated levels that state athletic commissions allow, generally 4:1 NSAC 6:1. Reaping the benefits in the times they are not tested. He says he wants to have Olympic tests done where they can be tested 24/7 365 days a year.
Not the best thing for a pro fighter to say but maybe the quote has been taken out of context, it won't be the first time thats happend.
