Price-Thompson: Predictions?
First topic message reminder :
Well, Thompson's come in at 262lbs, his heaviest ever. And judging by his comments about retirement he is expecting to lose. Price is at 247, the same as when he pancaked Harrison.
I don't see this going past 4 rounds, and if it does, it'll be target practice. Thompson turning up for a payday and hopefully showing slightly more than Johnson did against Fury. However, the first power shot Price connects with, Thompson goes down.
My actual reckoning is 2 rounds max, unless Tony gets lucky. It's going to be a walkover.

Re: Price-Thompson: Predictions?
When the fight was made I said it was a good match up. Thompson brings experience and cageyness. But his condition is shocking and Price should bowl him over with Thompson taking the fill 10 on his knees.
Kingpin showed as much ambition as Fury allowed him. He fought in the same manner as he did against K2.

I don't buy that sorry Az. Furys jab isn't great by any stretch of the imagination and with Furys reach advantage, Johnson had to get inside to win. He didn't try to do that once, happier to lean on the ropes and go home with a slightly bigger bank balance.

Re: Price-Thompson: Predictions?
Can't fault Fury for looking less than great against a guy who didn't come to fight. Shocking contest, but he got the win in the bank.
Thompson has clearly not trained for this fight with the diligence you'd expect from a guy who actually believed he could win. KO4 for me...

Perhaps he wasn't allowed to get inside.

Yeah that ram rod jab must have been scary. No point arguing as you'd argue the sky wasn't blue if you could.

We just have to agree to disagree on this issue. I prefer to give credit to the winner and the person who came in prepared and remain professional in this sport.

To be fair, Johnson was the nightmare opponent in that he is clearly durable, but did not come to fight. Fury was never gonna look too hot against him - just a case of getting the job done.
Still think Price is the better fighter overall.

Wow, didn't even see that punch coming. Amir Khan mark 2? Or just one of those heavyweight things where any fighter can knock anyone else out?

It didn't even seem to be a clean punch. Glancing and caught Price more on the neck. Didn't seem that powerful a shot.

So Mitchell loses in two rounds.
Price loses in two rounds.
Who's next, Wilder or Fury?

Thompson needs to be tested immediately. The man thinks everyone should be allowed to take drugs and then takes Price out with a half-hearted shot like that?

Re: Price-Thompson: Predictions?
Price now has chin-dar as Amir Khan contracted after the Prescott fight.
Heavies will target his whiskers now, Price is branded.
It takes a lot to overcome this and push on.

Fury is actually probably gutted. He won't be offered £650,000 to fight Price now and all the prestige and hype gone

Thompson called out that sissy Tyson Fury. Now that's a fight I wouldn't mind seeing, and could be a good comparrison.
Must say I hated the booing of the national anthem, big lack of class.

Odd KO.... seems ominous but we'll see if it really is as bad as we think.
They are heavyweights. When an 18st man hits you it hurts.
David will come back better. He is still a good prospect.

Sure is...especially as he got clipped round the back of the head.azania wrote:Wow. Now that surprised me. Not even a hard punch. It seems I over-estimated his chin. Its weaker than I gave him credit for.
Sadly we still don't really know if Price is chinny as he wasn't actually hit on the chin...cold comfort for him at this point though

I agree. I was also impressed with the boxnation interview of Price. I've seen some stupid questions after a loss.
The Liverpool crowd were shameful booing the US anthem.

Fury must be peeved. Lost a million because this chump didn't have a chin. Getting KO's by a fat 41 year old is embarassing. Shocking. And what a god awful bunch of scallies the crowd were. How can you disrespect the US national anthem like that. Disgraceful Price should apologise on their behalf.

Re: Price-Thompson: Predictions?
That won't stop Az saying he has a china chin. Thompson could have hit him clean 50 times bang on the chin and then landed that shot and I still think Az would say he had a dodgy chin.
This is no more a set back than Prescott was for Khan, big difference he has one punch KO power and that's a huge bonus.

I guess and i'm being a bit negative but not on the same level as before it would have been sold to general public as 2 undefeated heavyweight giants both looking for world title glory

He took a better shot on the chin earlier in the round from Thompson and seemed fine. Must have been one of those odd shots that scrambles the senses a la Khan vs Garcia.

Oh come on. Khan got shelacked by a punch to the neck and people call him chinny.
Let me rephrase it then. Price lack adequate punch resistance. GB level or perhaps Euro level at the very best. He's been fighting planks all his pro career. Reminds me of the line in Enter the Dragon "boards don't hit back".
A fat 41 year old destroyed him. What a shame

Didn't Willie Limond drop Khan only for him to get saved by a "long" count?

Re: Price-Thompson: Predictions?
Sadly i thought this might happen and did say i thought it was too early for Price when the fight was first announced, Thompson is a very tough opponent for a fighter of Prices experience and no matter how much the Fury fanboys put Thompson down prefight many i know over the pond who know Thompson better were saying he would win and they are suprised by the lack of respect a bloke who has just fought for the world title was getting in the UK. That KO does not mean Price is chinny it was just a half decent punch that landed in a horrible place and scrambled the big lads brain and legs. I still think he will come back stronger and it does nothing to change my opinion he will ruin Fury when and if they ever fight.

Have some respect for chump? fat 41 year old? takes bottle to do what they do.
This is a set back. He wants a rematch which he must get to keep the faithful interested. He will come back. Time to say goodbye to Maloney and give Hearns a call.
