Squad has been named for these two CB 40 games.

Rory Hamilton-Brown (Captain), Steven Davies (Wicket Keeper), Jason Roy, Zander de Bruyn, Tom Maynard, Matthew Spriegel, Gary Wilson, Chris Schofield, Yasir Arafat, Tim Linley, Jade Dernbach, Matthew Dunn, Tom Jewell, Gareth Batty (Only Monday)

Points of interest: no Michael Brown (poor form?), Meaker (presumably not yet recovered); possible first outings in the first team this season for any of the following Spriegel, Dunn, Jewell, and Roy. I imagine Adams may try out a few of the inexperienced players in the Scotland game - but he can't risk losing the match. Given that Batty is not playing on Sunday I would expect to see Spriegel in the team.

IF we win both that might finally get our season underway. But with our bowling attack highly erratic I would not be confident of our beating Hants....

Thanks for this update, Corporal.

No Chris Jordan either. I presume he's being eased back following his lengthy injury layoff.

It's been suggested on the wallpaper site that Brown is keen to also play the one dayers but that Adams sees him very much as a CC player. Whatever the format, I do wonder if Brown was rushed back into the CC side before he was really ready.

I'm sure you are spot on about Adams wanting to try out some of the squad players tomorrow but without running too much of a risk of losing (just imagine some of the posts and comments at next week's members' forum if that were to happen!). I would guess Viscount will miss out tomorrow along with one of Jewell and your protege Dunn.

IMO a Scotland win would be good and would add a bit more spice to that pool.

A top order of RHB, Davies, Roy and Maynard does excite me in the one day games, along with de Bruyn to be the more steady hand in amongst them. It does, however, have the ability to spectacularly collapse I would imagine! The bowling doesn't inspire confidence but at least it's possible to win a one day match without bowling the other team out!

Comfortable win for Surrey against Scotland IMO,the superior batting and bowling side.Runs quickly at the top of the order and Dernbach,Arafat and Schofield too likely make a stamp in the match.Hampshire though will be a tight game both are quite level in the batting and bowling department so it adds up to be a cracking game.

Yes indeed. Add to that the fact that I'm a Wolves fan, if Surrey lose to Scotland and Wolves lose to Birmingham then I really will be a depressed carrot.

A little surprised and disappointed that both Jewell and Dunn miss out. Yes, we have to win but surely this was a game to let one of the youngsters dip his toes in the first team pool. Adams clearly inclined more towards self preservation than player development.

Meanwhile, Wolves who really needed three points at least get one and live to fight on a little longer. No doubt Carrot and Corporal will both be anxiously following West Ham's fortunes later today although with very different hopes as to the final score. I wonder what part Robert Green, brought up on the edge of the Woking salt mines, will play? Rolling Eyes

Afternoon, Guildford. As long time follower of West Ham my expectations are very realistic Sad

I'm guessing that it's the erratic form of our seamers that's made Adams cautions in not picking either Dunn or Jewell. Looks as tho' after a decent partnership Scotland may well fall short of 200. Hyphen is backing himself with the ball...

Corporal - spot on about Scotland falling short of 200, their innings closing on 196-9.

Seems odd for the Viscount to be picked, bowl four respectable overs (1-16) and then not to be called upon again. I get the impression that Hyphen lacks belief in him.

Meanwhile, a goal in the West Ham game but I guess you know that .... Crying or Very sad

Roy gone for 60 but victory today and his one day place now almost assured.

Meanwhile, an interesting finish looks on at Wormsley where the Unicorns are playing Somerset. Ex Surrey man Neil Saker has a couple of wickets including Trescothick ....

A third wicket for Saker but Compton's century proves decisive as Somerset edge home.

Wonder if there will be any changes for our own match against Hants tomorrow following a convincing win today. Maybe Batty in for Schofied and just possibly one of Jewell and Dunn replacing Viscount.

Although Arafat took 3 wickets today, he conceded 60 runs which against Scotland (with some respect if you're reading, MR. Scotland!) is concerning. Still don't believe that Adams will leave him out ....

Dernbach bowled incredibly economically which is a good sign, I agree about Arafat it is very disappointing to concede 60 against Scotland from 8 overs.

Overall a very professional performance today, great to see Davies and, in particular, Roy in the runs. Hopefully Hyphen can find some form tomorrow.

Agree - a much better performance today - excellent from Dernbach, Davies and Roy. Spriegel will also be pleased to have put in a reasonable bowling spell. Might we play Schofield, Batty and Spriegel tomorrow?

Corporal - That's certainly a possibility. In such a scenario, Viscount would probably be the one to miss out although I suppose we could dispense with Wilson given all these three slowies can bat. Interesting ....

Surrey unchanged for the Hampshire match this afternoon. That means no place for Batty (who was not in the squad for yesterday) or for Dunn or Jewell.

Hamilton-Brown (C), Davies (W), Roy, de Bruyn, Maynard, Spriegel, Wilson, Schofield, Arafat, Linley, Dernbach.

Plenty of bowling options, though arguably rather thin on the quality

I think Surrey would settle for present position with Hants at 79 for 4 at six an over. Could do with a few quiet overs at no more than 3 or 4 an over tho'....

Very pleased the Viscount is amongst the wickets. It won't save his place for this week's CC match against Leics but it should still do his confidence good.

By the way, Corporal, trust the Military have issued you with a Health & Safety Certificate for that window .... Very Happy

141 all out in 30 overs. Dernbach takes 4 wickets. Looks like a good all round bowling performance. If we can wrap this one up with minimum of scares the team will gain in confidence.

Guildford - I think the Military's main concern is about the productivity rate, given the rather frequent breaks taken by the squad Wink

Interesting to see that Scotland's bowlers have had Warks in a fair bit of trouble today.

What were they saying was wrong with his technique? Seems to be working for him!

Excellent to get another win today, shame it wasn't more comfortable but glad that we bowled well. Get Ramps in for Wilson when he's ready and our batting looks quite strong. Hopefully some confidence has been gained for the CC game this week.

The suggestion seemed to be that he was frequently playing uppish shots with bat far in front of the pads. Anyway, Guildford's support for Roy fully justified.

I think Roy has done enough to gain selection for the cc. Maybe we could drop both openers (Wilson and Brown) and pick both Roy and Ramps!

Pleased for Spriegel that he saw us home....
