Good idea. The long side stands are already retractable (for AFL and Cricket) but the slightly reduced capacity would still be a decent size.

True, Brookie is the worst of the old suburban grounds. It has had some horrible redevelopment over the years (that corner 'stand' was a complete waste of money) and the north-eastern embankment has been crying out for a covered grandstand for ages.
Maybe it would be better to build a completely new venue up Pittwater Rd - in the acres of open space near Rat Park (Warringah Rugby) in North Narrabeen. It would help if they had a light rail too (or a metro to the city would be even better) connecting it with Mona Vale and Manly via Brookvale. There's about 350,000 people living on the Peninsula but due to the geography and inaction of previous local/State Governments... everyone has to travel by car or take the "L90" which travels 42km (26 miles) from Palm Beach to Railway Square via Wynyard. Takes forever!!
