Mobile Phone Upgrade
Right, I'm currently on Vodafone paying £25 a month. I have had, over the last 10 years or so, various mishaps with phones - usually drink related. As such I am currently using a Nokia from the 90's. I am however due an upgrade.
Being a techno geek like Scott and Union, I am interested to know your opinions as to which phone I should opt for now. I will probably try for a smart phone thingy but I only really need the following:
I want a decent camera on it
Something that I can access and use 606v2 with
Something that'll display a rainfall radar (raintoday.co.uk)
Google maps
GPS
Something fairly durable
Which one should I go for? I'm erring on the side of HTC currently.......

Don't know how they compare really but happy with my HTC Desire and you can probably get the newer one at that price now.
Phone up the T Mobile online sales department and aim for £10 cheaper than in store prices.

Why don't you get the vodafone insurance as well? If you get it over the phone it's only £3 a month for unlimited claims with no excess.

Mine is quicker than the iPhone 3 for browsing internet, maps etc. Not sure about iPhone 4 vs Sensation. I would think they are similar, hence HTC being sued so often.

Re: Mobile Phone Upgrade
I picked up the Samsung Galaxy S2 a couple of weeks ago and I'm really impressed. It does pretty much everything a smartphone can do and the screen is absolutely amazing. The screen blows away the iPhone4 for size and brightness. It's a seriously good phone. Watching videos is much better than any phone I've used.
The only downside is you have to buy a case as the phone is so thin and flimsy. With a Casemate Tough case the phone is almost bullet proof.

I have the Desire HD. Cracking 'phone, only marred slightly by the fact it's pretty big (4.3" multi-touch screen) and the battery life is pretty poor if you tend to use it for web browsing.Scottrf wrote:Don't know how they compare really but happy with my HTC Desire and you can probably get the newer one at that price now.

I also found that hinting very heavily that you're thinking of leaving your provider works wonders. I found a deal on a website (mobilesUK or something) that was better than my network could offer despite being still with them, AND via a third-party. Suffice to say T-Mobile came round after some haggling and pipped the other offer. Used to be on Orange, but the customer service with T-Mobile I've found to be much better.

Yeah if you find one of those 3rd party sites to use as leverage you will be good.
Honestly I think you are charging any of the smartphones daily.

Balti is right if you say you're leaving and have been a pretty good customer they will offer you better deals than they could if you were just joining.

Definitely. Helps to tweak the settings too. I turned the screen brightness down a bit, turned off some of the roaming features. It all helps squeeze a bit more life out of it. GPS kills batteries in no time.Scottrf wrote:Yeah if you find one of those 3rd party sites to use as leverage you will be good.
