Italy v Wales Commentary
First topic message reminder :
Watching the game I wasn’t sure what was happening, I was a few beers in so I wasn’t sure what I was hearing. Re-watching the game I quite enjoyed the commentary by Huw Llywelyn Davies, I’m sure that he's normally the guy who does the games for S4C and thought that he did very well switching languages at half time as I assume he would have done the first half for S4C. I know that there is a group of people on this forum who dislike certain aspects of the BBC coverage; typically it is aimed at Jiffy, Butler and Moore. Did you enjoy the difference in commentary offered by Davies? How do you feel about Shane stepping in, did he do well? Thoughts in general.

Talking about people who do not have the right accent for their appearance, I do a lot of work for a retired surgeon, one of the top surgeons in the country at his time, he is whiter than me he has blond to greying hair but his Indian accent is so strong you would not believe it, we joke about this all the time, he was born in India with Indian parents, he just has a skin condition that keeps his pigment white, we all have a good old laugh when he comes to our place though, as he has a go at our Welsh accents but he ends up sounding more Indian and we take the urine of his Indian accent and end up sounding more Welsh. Their must be something in the Welsh and Indian accents.

That's true, Dowlais. The Welsh and Indian (and West Indian) accents can sound similar.

I hate the Captain Morgan Rum advert. The whole set up is as American as Mom's cherry pie and the bloke who speaks has been dubbed with a Luton accent! Rediculous...

Also could you please explain in depth to me the path England took to the 2003 final?
Or did you just watch the final with your dad? because you must have been around five years old back then.
For those who do need it explaining Englands path to the world cup saw success over a number of years, building toward that world cup victory.
e.g
2000 England 46 Wales 12
2001 England 44 Wales 15
2002 England 50 Wales 10
2003 England 26 Wales 9
2003 England 43 Wales 9
2003
Thought Id deal in FACTS and "serious rugby discussion", just to show we arent all bickering 5 year olds still now eh View.

I enjoyed that Tiger and to be honest i don't think consistently beating Wales was the run up that made England the team they were in 2003.Peter Seabiscuit Wheeler wrote:viewtothegym wrote:A world cup and 3 finals? Also you missed my point, when asking 3finals and a world cup to explain the path England took to winning the world cup i meant the group stages right through to the final all the memorable moments, because i suspect he aint got the foggiest clue what happened beyond the scores from some wikipedia archive.

No, it was losing in 1999.

Re: Italy v Wales Commentary
Anyone else remember the amount of penalties awarded to England in the second half of the quarter final?
Shocking to honest, Clive Woodward in the refs ear walking down the half time tunnel seemed to do the trick.
