Easter London drinks - 26/3/13
As we approach the run-in to the end of the season, it's time to mark our calendars for London drinks - 6pm onwards on Tuesday 26th March at the Thornbury Castle (http://www.thornburycastle.uk.com/), a stone's throw from Baker Street tube. As always, all will be welcome - the more, the merrier. There will be banter, further lively discussion over the merits of pie, and the odd jape or three. No doubt on the agenda we'll have post 6Ns review, Lions selection, league playoffs, transfers for next season and the knock-out stages of European cup competition. Look forward to seeing the usual posters and hopefully meeting some new ones too

Thinking about the Thornbury Castle brings back some memories, but sadly I am not sure i will be able to attend and add to them.

As, I should point out that Marylebone is the nearest tube (+ rail) station. Baker St is only a 5 minute walk though.
For any others thinking of attending, the pub hosted a 606 meet up prior to Sarries v Leinster at Wembley a few seasons back. A great success.
Gary & Mags (+ their son and daughter), who both work at the pub) are excellent hosts. I'll let them know we'll be turning up.

Will be with you in spirit.
I miss Baker Street, especially the Galvin Bistro. Incidentally, if you are interested, you really should check out the Atlas photography gallery on Dover Street nearby: http://www.atlasgallery.com/atlas.php
I can never afford anything, but it's amazing.

That's why, when Mrs GC is not in attendance, in that part of town I'd end up at the cafe in John Lewis or the Giraffe on Blandford Street instead.funnyExiledScot wrote:George Carlin wrote:Will be with you in spirit.

As this is now only a week away, I thought I would post to bring back to people's attention. Depending on who attends, I would imagine there will be plenty of 6N chat, and some S15 discussions.
Looking forward to it.

Oz
Suggest a venue that suits you for a meet up prior to the summer tours. Or maybe after the tours. We'll all have plenty to discuss then.
BigTrev - it will be good to see you. Same goes for anyone else who hasn't been to one of these meet ups. It's not a big pub, but just ask at the bar if we are not readily identifiable.

As thanks for the cordial invite, but it's a school night and teaching adolescent SEBD boys is "challenging" at the best of times but positively suicidal on a hangover. Hopefully next time.

Re: Easter London drinks - 26/3/13
A quick look at the website to see what real is on today - think I'll start with a cheeky Westerham Finchcocks Original @ 3.5%, followed by a swift SamBrook Wandle @ 3.8%, and that's it for looseners. Main course of Twickenham Naked Ladies @ 4.4% (skipping Pride cos I can have that anytime), and on to Rebellion Mutiny @ 4.5%. All rounded off with a chunky Horns Hopslinger @ 6.1% and that'll be me done for a school nite

You need to go to the Porterhouse in Covent Garden which (for too short a while) had the superbly named guest ale 'Eames Old Scrotum'.

I think it is very unfair to exhibit such Londonocentric tendancies when arranging these "London Drinks" get togethers!!!!
Bout time you had a "London Drinks" get together somewhere other than the capital if you ask me. Which you didn't!
Oh and I hadn't realised that Morg and View were a couple!
Enjoy and/or behave!

C21st/GC, it was good to catch up with everybody and we had an amusing Lions selection debate (see thread on international section). Also discovered Bushmills white bush as a v tasty alternative to their black bush - will definitely be looking out for that one again, plus I didn't fall of my bike on the cycle home!
