Paul Bearer passes away.
It was announced by WWE some time during the night that Paul Bearer, most famous for managing The Undertaker and Kane, had passed away.
Paul had had to pull out if some recent events because of illness.
He was 58 years old.
RIP

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
I will always remember the time he wrote me a personal email telling me he didnt have time to come on the podcast. I will also remember the polite way he declined another 4 occasions.
Great, entertainer who will be missed by the wrestling industry.
I feel sadder about him passing than I did about Eddie strangely enough.

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
sad news.... weirdly my GF actually asked yesterday afternoon if he was still alive, then i wake up to this!
Does anyone think Punk will use this to gain heat with undertaker? I know that sounds really wrong, but WWE have used real life issues before such as Lawler's mother passing away and his heart attack

That Bearer and Taker have both (kayfabe) died before makes this less likely I think

Wow that's a bit out of the bliue, didn't realise he was so ill, I knew he didn't keep in great health but 58 is definitely no age to be passing, I did think he was older, he looked -n his 50s throughout his Wrestling career, no doubt The Undertaker's match will now take on a much more emotional roll now
He seemed like a truly nice guy in a murky world

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
This is such a shame, I thought he was past the worst of his health issues but I guess not. He seemed like a really decent bloke as well and I always remember the first time I heard him speak in his normal voice and being like "Wow!" because he was so soft spoken.
My favourite Paul Bearer moments are his return at Wrestlemania XX (of course!) and his heel turn on the Undertaker at Summerslam 96 - although at the time I was raging because I was a huge Taker fan.
Rest in peace Paul, thank you very much for the memories.

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
I've never been a big taker fan, liked him when he had the ministry/corporate ministry but Paul bearer and taker had chemistry that you can't buy! He was a great manager!
I real shame to hear this.
Do we think he may be inducted into the hall of fame now or is it too early?

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
Reckon it's a bit too early to induct him this year but I wouldn't be at all surprised to see him go into the HOF next year. I wonder if the Undertaker would induct him?

Shame, he was one of the best managers of the 90's.
I think its only fitting to use the Undertakers words, Rest in Peace.

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
It's a real shame as what he did, he did very well and I don't think the Undertaker could ever have had the success he had without Bearer's work. I've always thought it just to be a given that Bearer would be there when Undertaker finally called it a day as well, to lead him back to Death Valley.
I'd have thought it'd be more likely Kane or Mick Foley would do it, if Undertaker is still wrestling at that point.

Perhaps this will be the last WM appearance for Undertake now that Paul Bearer is gone. Would be a way to write him out...

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
Really sad about this. Genuinely liked by everyone I think.
When he came back at Wrestlemania XX and you heard his brilliantly high pitched voice go "Ohhhhh Yeeeees" was awesome.
Rest in Peace good man

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
Really sad news. For me, one of the very best at what he did. He was able to be a massive part of a wrestler's act, without ever taking the spotlight away from them, he was very similar to Heenan in that respect.
RIP.

Re: Paul Bearer passes away.
I wouldn't compare Bearer to Heenan, I thought you where pretty spot on with your assesment of Bearer, he didn't take the spot light, that's a complete contrast to Heenan though who was so brilliant that he couldn't help but steal the spotlight, guys he was managing including greats like Rick Rude and even Mr Perfect became sider shows, it was all about Bobby Heenan

I am going to be writing a piece for the journal - could you all take a look at twitter and paste any wrestlers tweets on here that offer up a tribute.

Maybe it's to do with the rise of Twitter, or maybe it's because he was one of the backstage good guys, but I've never seen such an outpouring of tributes from the wrestling community. He's eclipsed the tributes for Macho Man for sure.
