New Revelations About British Boxing
Hi Chaps,
Thought this may interest a few of you. Given the recent changing of the guard amongst promoters here in the UK many have been left wondering just why so many boxers are jumping ship. Well it may seem that some answers will soon be provided.
In a revelation by Eddie Hearn it would seem that a fair number of pro's are simply not being paid by the promoters...something which Hearn has not only capitalised on but in his first article for SkySports has now revealed not only is there a problem but the British Boxing Board of Control are, according to him, simply not doing enough to ensure this does not happen.

Whilst some may think that given his status as the number 1 guy with Sky he may have an agenda, in the article he sounds off about not only going to the board himself but also writing to the board & declaring the lengths he will go to in order to ensure this problem is stamped out.
I will be watching with curiosity to see whether he does indeed reveal any names, though I can imagine who at least one of them may be.

Well Warren never paid Calzaghe for his biggest pay day to date at the time and when he lost the court case he simply collapsed his company and walked away. C**t.

You have to like his honesty as he is correct as not paying the fighters sooner is unacceptable, and you also get the feeling that this may be directed at Warren who's financial troubles have been going around and Heanr now has 4 of his fighters
Liked the bit on the end where he acknowledged how good Broner is and that burns won't be able to beat him coming off the inactivity and lack of form that he's on atm

Even so it still manages to be more balanced than the tripe Frank spouts in his Sun column...

Frank Warren still owes a healthy amount to a number of venues for Calzaghe shows. What ever he owes is slowly coming back to haunt him.
One can always hide behind a "bankrupt" company so no assets are seized, but seeing as the guy is hiding in plain sight and still promoting is a slap in the face to the many people he owes money too.
I'd give him a year before he is stone cold broke.
As for Hearn, he is doing right by his boxers. He understands SPORT promotion where as Frank is known only for his Boxing work... Hearn will be huge in the next few years - regardless of Golden Boy Promotions UK venture, because of his relationship with his guys and his ability to GET the fights made.
