Favourite boxing venue?
Morning everyone,
Simple question, what is your favourite boxing venue and for what reason? I've only ever been to one event. That was at the EXCEL centre in Liverpool to see Warren's 'magnificent 7'. Now although it was a great night it's not really a venue that you could ever call a classic.
So which is it for you?
Do you prefer the history of say a Caesar's Palace/Madison Square Garden/MGM Grand/York Hall?
Or a more in your face venue where it feel like the gladiators are in the arena such as when Froch fought in Nottingham?
Or maybe even your own local two bit venue that just has character and the grubiness of boxing ingrained?
I look forward to your responses.
cheers!

I went to watch Khan vs Barerra at the MEN, and the atmosphere was brilliant. Surprisingly very hostile towards Khan as well.
I've always wanted to go to Maddisons Square Gardens.

Re: Favourite boxing venue?
Ive never been to a big event, but ive been to afew local ones, was at ringside in one of them, and a dudes head got rocked by a left hook and his blood came flying onto my face.
I cant compare big venues to a local leisure centre as i havent been to a big event, but judging from the telly, the crowds are more livlier in the smaller venues, ive never been to one where the crowd has switched off, probaably due to the fact that its mainly fighters family and friends, so theres support for every fight but crowds are always more engaged in small hall shows from my experience.

I've been to various. But my favourite was at the MGM Grand watching Mayweather vs Ortiz. The Mexican fans really know how to create a hostile atmosphere!

No brainer for me...My brother being a boxing fan as well as me always wanted to go to the Blue horizon in Philadelphia to sample the atmosphere......(.It's a legendary fight venue).......
He drove us the 300 miles down there in 87/88 and we watched a card........Remember perennial contender Jorge Maysonet was on it........
Drove back straight after and we were screwed by the time we got home..
It was a good night though..

Great insight gents.
I do sometimes think when you see the stadiums on tv you can lose something.
