Favourite lions moment from each tour?

2009: First 5 mins of second test. Burger eye gouges Fitzy and BOD unleashes hell. Never been so pumped watching a match except for last Saturday. Pure adrenaline everyone in pub going nuts.

2005: Final whistle of third test haha? Nah fav bit, "what is the captain doing?... what is the captain doing?"

2001: BOD super try.

1997: Gibbs tackle on oz du randt.

Missed 97 and 01 tours. Wish I'd missed the 05 one. Fave bit of the last tour was watching the 3rd test in the Bristol airport bar.

Phillips 12 was amazing and I'm surprised he hasn't played there again since. Guess he's too busy playing 7 and 8!

Sadly I think the standout moment for 2013 is going to be Genia giving Phillips twisted blood (again).

Genia's been fairly rubbish so far.

2009 - Sean Edwards little dance up the side line as Ugo intercepts and scores. Classic.

2009 - Bok scrum 5m's from the Lions try line, it's the first scrum of the second test after the controversy and pain of the first and straight away Lions penalty. Big cheer in the pub.

1989 - Rob Jones and Nick Farr-Jones doing the tango.

1903 - Charlie Farquhar-Farquhar slicing a kick into a river, being forced to fetch it and being eaten by crocodiles.

2001 - Dr James Robson running through the injury list and when he got to Keith Wood said "Keith pretty much has absolutely everything wrong with him - he puts his entire body on the line!"

1997 players court - Simon Shaw in a string vest and mustache was hilarious

2009 - McGeechan breaking down after his pre 3 test speech - gets me every time

From 2009 series at the time;

Roberts and BOD's partnership in the centres.

Simon Shaw's speech at the end of the second test and his performance all through that game.

From re-watching the series on DVD;

Geech breaking down after third test speech then Rowntree hugging him.

Shaun Edwards repeatedly going nuts on the side-line for different reasons.

Vickery screaming BEAST at the crowd in the 3rd test after somewhat redeeming himself.

2005 - DC is the perfect 10.

Some good off-play moments in 2009:

- Bakkies standing over O'Driscoll threatening to hit him, camera clearly catches O'Driscoll saying, "well, I'm right here, come on then".

- Hines laughing as he grips two Boks by the jersey, giving them a mouthful.

- Shane Williams' 'hail mary' inside push pass for Flutey's try was beautiful.

Are you sure the 97 moment was Gibbs tackle???? Surely it's the other way round??? The famous moment was when Gibbs bounced Du Randt on the charge no??? Everyone makes it out to be bigger than it was though... He didn't smash him backwards, he came in on an angle and bounced off.

The Dawson try for me was the greatest... Not only did that give the lions belief it also snubbed the worlds best player at the time... No one did a joost on joost... Turned that whole series.

Genia and Cooper looked back on form again... Running the show and complimenting each others styles. Both have been coming back from injury.

Whoever faces those two will need to be at their very best come June.

fa0019 - I watched the whole game and I pray that Gatland won't be stupid enough to try and play Philips against Genia. The old definition of 'madness' remains the correct one.

2001 - BOD boxing Healy! Wish it was caught on camera!

But the atmosphere in The Gabba for the first test was something that words cannot describe, real goosebumps hair standing type stuff, favorite rugby match of all time! No other match I have been to comes anywhere near it!

1997 - Gibbs bumping off Du Randt - John Bentleys wonder try.

2001 - O'Driscolls try in the 1st test.

2005 - Gareth Thomas try in the second test.

2009 - BOD hit on Russow 2nd test.

For mine

1989 standing in a hotel lobby waiting for a ride to an airport in either Christchurch or Auckland (can't remember) and seeing Campo's meltdown on the TV there.

1993 seeing the 11 on Underwood's jersey get smaller and smaller from behind the Athletic Park in-goal as he sprinted away from me to score.

1997 watching Guscott's kick as I liked how he played no matter how up himself he seemed to be.

2001 Harrison's monumental take with it all on the line.

2005 my band and I tuning up for a gig in Palmerston North watching the best ever performance by a 10 and feeling happy that the tour was going to be remembered for some rugby as well as some recklessness.

2009 hearing the reaction to ROG's brain explosion in a chockablock Woolshed in Dublin with Barnes telling everyone that Steyn wouldn't miss. He was right.

2005 - snogging 6 girls in a NZ bar after the first test and daring them to see what was under a Scotsman kilt

(the rugby was dire)

Well, I suppose in that case I should add:

2009 - whilst watching the second test in a crowded bar off Notting Hill Gate, I ruined any chance that I had with a remarkably hot Indian girl by pretending to be an amusing and erudite man of the world throughout the match only for the veneer to slip horribly in the 86nd minute when I was compelled to scream "for ****'s SAKE, Ronan O'Gara" at the television.

Good job Mrs GC came along a month later.

Brilliant.

I think someone should set up a separate thread to disclose all these stories!

Heinrich Brussow trying to bounce Martin Williams like a basketball was a bit of comic relief especially given Williams was doing his best and succeeding to urine him off.

1997- Dawson's dummy or Guscott's drop.

Also so many good moments on the tour dvd, Bentley is a funny man!

2001- Almost any part of the 1st test, probably Waltzing O'Driscoll's try.

2005- Umm.... I remember having a decent breakfast while watching the games

2009- Ugo's try? There were a lot of heroics. I watched the final test in Dubrovnik, it was great to watch, but too little too late.

A few of my worst moments to balance up:

1997- Doddie Weir having his leg broken- horrible.

2001- Probably Joe Roff intercepting or else Hill being targeted, they knew full well what they were doing.

2005- having Alistair Campbell involved at all. Horrible man.

2009- 'What are you doing Ronan?! No you F****** ****, what a complete ******* *******'. Ive told him not to kick when watching the dvd. Doesnt help mind.

Its always been in the back on my mind whether Ronan was monitoring Betfair prior to coming on or not?

He appeared to be concussed when chasing up the kick and the Bok player jumped into him and made the most of it. Certainly dont think O'Gara intended to take him out.

Poor O’Gara – he has had a stellar career and has been one of Ireland’s all time greats at standoff but the 2 things he’ll be remembered for are that up and under for the Lions and the cross field chip kick against Scotland this 6N!

I heard the concussed one too. Don't buy it myself... when was the last time you saw a guy do an up & under from inside his own 22??? Not just in the last minute of the 2nd test in a lions series!!!

His RWC07 was pretty dire also.. oh and his charge outs in the 05 final match of the 6N vs. Wales.. another crazy ROG moment.

Funny Bathman I was in Dubrovnik watching the 3rd test too. Was probably in the same pub. Not that I'd remember the name...

What I do remember is eating a pizza the size of a drain cover later that evening and then having to walk up that massive hill outside the old town to get back to the hostel, which was a struggle!

Jeepers Risky. We may finish as 3N/4N winners often enough, but we'll always come a distant third/now fourth in terms of our girls.

That was tricky Bathman especially after a few sherbets. I remember playing wingman for an English guy with these stunning Norwegian girls. Was wishing I was still in the game as I'd have had a chance with one of them! Heading back in July with the missus so no wingman play haha.

Your Kiwi birds do have some standards, Disney. 6 years ago, I was in Auckland when the 6N was on so, having found an Irish bar just off Queen St that was open all night, I fell out of bed about 2.30am to go to said pub. Got pished, we got pumped by Italy, I got laughed at by all the Irish guys in the pub and then stumbled back to my hotel about 6.30. Aft having been told that Kiwi birds love the Scottish accent, I thought I would try a bit of banter with the bird behind reception. Let's just say that either she was a bit fussier than I thought she would have been or, less likely, maybe I don't really look very much like Ewan McGregor. I tried to avoid the reception desk for the rest of my stay!

Well maybe it was the 5 hours of drinking, maybe it was the cold snowy air, maybe it was just the pity after our team got spanked, but they looked darn fine to me
