I still wish he was Wales' 2nd choice 9. 2 tries for Sale tonight in a huge win.

Then again we do have to keep one eye on the future and Lloyd Williams ain't doing too bad.

Thoughts?

Peels move to Sale really ruined his Welsh carear, he was caught up in the inevitable Club v Country row a good few years back and at the time wasn't get much gametime.

Wigglesworth was starting more than him on a regular basis which went against him.

My all time favourite player, i remember the battles peel and cooper had for the 9 jersey when howley retired. He's better than any scrum half in NH long live peel

At the ripe old age of 28 he had 76 Wales Caps, and 3 Lions ones.

He had his run for Wales now he his topping up his pension before he retires, he's 31 now.
It's sad that leaving Wales has done so much damage to his career, but in truth he was simply replaced by Mike Phillips.

Mike also has 77 caps and 3 Lions caps, and Mike is only a year younger. Their both quality players. thumbsup

Gatland always preferred Phillips to Peel. Moving to Sale was not the main reason his Welsh caps dried up. He's simply not a #2

Peel was a proper scrum quick taps, good service and constant, where gatland likes his lumpers and the thought of having an extra forward and Phillips is that

Dwayne also has a big mouth and apparently gobbed off to Gatland which is why he wasn't used by Wales.

So I've read on Gwlad and ScumV.

Gats didn't want him to leave, and, with Howler, they put together an offer for Dwayne to sign for the Blues instead (Shock horror just like they tried to with North), Dwayne told them that he had told Sale he would sign and that was what he was going to do. Not sure how politely he worded it, or how heated discussion got etc. But apparently Howler was not best pleased with Peel afterwards.

Dwayne was never the same after injury. Can't remember what it was but it seemed to take the zip out of his game. He does appear to be playing well at the moment though. could be an outside shout for Japan

Im sure peel suffered from groin and back problems. I know that was one bad injury after lions 2005.

Peel was/is a better scrum half than Phillips

Peel is a proper 9. Phillips is a centre playing at 9

Phillips was playing centre for the scarlets that's one of the reasons he left
