Wales Autumn Series 2013
The fixtures are as follows:
Wales vs South Africa - Sat 9th Nov.
Wales vs Argentina - Sat 16th Nov.
Wales vs Tonga - Fri 22nd Nov.
Just the three this year thankfully, our battered and bruised squad will only have to begin the season with playing South Africa. Wales will be more confident than last year and target a clean sweep. We also can't afford to take Tonga lightly either although it's better them than Samoa or Fiji.

Would Wales be suffering from a post lions hangover? There is usually bucketloads of injuries so could be an issue

Re: Wales Autumn Series 2013
Don't worry, by the 3rd Lions Test Gatts will have realised his mistake and there will be a fair few fresh Welsh players coming out of the series.
Sadly the Lions will only win the dead rubber and lose 2-1 again.

Re: Wales Autumn Series 2013
I can see it now
Option 1. We win the series with too many Welsh players - Headline GATLAND FAVOURS WALES
Option2 . We lose the series with too many Welsh players- GATLAND'S WALES BEATEN AGAIN
Option 3. We win the series with few Welsh players - AUSTRALIA CAN BE BEATEN BUT NOT BY WALES
Option 4. We lose the series with too few Welsh players - WELSH PLAYERS FAIL TO LIVE UP TO EXPECTATION.
Basically, the shirt is red and Gats is coach so whatever happens Wales are fecked.

Re: Wales Autumn Series 2013
Yet there isn't a single coach available to the lions that is half as good as gatland, what is his record 2 grand slams, 1 HC and how ever many AP so there's no one better to lead the lions. So the English media are going moan iver way so yes Gats you are Frak.
Yes Wales lost to Australia 8 times or how ever many yet Wales are competitive against them only losing by 7 or less, and most them loses were under rob the howler howley

Re: Wales Autumn Series 2013
The problem is with near 15 guarentee'd tourists Wales will be decimated by tired lions players.
I personally wouldn't be selecting a development summer tour team, I would select the strongest Wales team possible (but with an eye on development too) and look to use that squad through the summer and AI's leaving the Lions boys rest up and play club rugby, in reality only the SA game is going to sell out anyway, there may be a bit more of a buzz for a more developmental team to play Arg and Tonga

Decimated really means reduced by 1/10th. Check your Roman history

I loathe that attitude...competitive losing is worse than being thumped.

Can Wales build on their NH success and give one of the 'big 3' SH giants a smack in the eye? Somehow, I doubt it. #postlionsdisaster

I think your right, we will have too many players strecthed thin, thats why I would use the squad that travels to Japan in the AI's too!!!

I am not a roman (although I have the nose) I do not serve in the Roman army, I do not live BC, and I do not speak Latin, can you say you do?
So lets keep meanings of the English dictionary current shall we:
Kill, destroy, or remove a large percentage of.
Not kill one in ten to teach everyone a lesson

Re: Wales Autumn Series 2013
Yea maybe on the day but in the long run getting hammered don't do much you just realise everything your working for is Poopie, where losing by a couple points hurt but you know your with in inches of winning and know your going right. Yes Wales should have taken that step in 8 games but they didn't and remain one small step behind we are closer than any other nation, its ok beating them once in blue moon but Wales we seem to be closing the gap and going on to beating them on a regular

The classics are being destroyed by urban dictionary and its ilk. Sorry, I'll stop being pedantic.thebluesmancometh wrote:Cyril on 606v2 wrote:Decimated really means reduced by 1/10th. Check your Roman history

Re: Wales Autumn Series 2013
Wales should have scheduled New Zealand.
Wales have not beaten the All Blacks since ...wait for it....... ......
1953!
That being the case Wales should really try to play the All Blacks as much as possible.
Tonga and Argentina? all due respect but pfffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

Re: Wales Autumn Series 2013
As you don't have a Wales A, these fixtures are possibly a good chance to look at some of the reserve positions.
There will also be the likes of Charteris and Davies (and possibly Lydiate) who look like having the summer off.
Possibly not a bad thing with the next RWC in mind. Whilst a largely second string side will probably struggle, at least against Argentina and SA, better that, and looking at the depth in a couple of positions, than putting out a battered 1st XV for another pounding. A number of Welsh players should probably sit out these games, and aim to be back fresh for the 6 Nations.

I'm sorry, fES, but that's far too logical a suggestion for these boards.

The process of stripping out depth and complexity in order to simplify for the masses.
Nothing wrong with having that goal on here Cyril !
