606v2 ATP Picking Game: Barcelona Open
3 games remaining
How to play:
- Every player has 20 picks. All picks must be used in mens main draw singles matches. The points besides each fixture represent the points you score if that player wins. If your pick is wrong you LOSE 10 points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the tournament is the winner. To play post your picks on this thread, try to number them. A valid pick must be in the format Player A def/over Player B (Winner First). By the end of the tournament all 23 picks must be used, unused picks will be counted as losses. You are allowed to post picks each day until the match starts, so please check the order of play. All picks posted after play starts are invalid and can be replaced. A pick is void if a match does not take place due to withdrawal or a change in the draw but is valid if at least one point is played (so retirements count). Each player will also be able to place “Djoker Cards” on any THREE of their 23 picks. If your "Djoker" pick wins you earn double winnings if he loses you will not lose any points. In case of more than one player being tied on the same score, the tiebreak will be number of right picks, if still tied then by 1st highest scoring pick, 2nd highest scoring
Raonic (125) - (1) Nadal
Kohlscreiber (28) - (3) Almagro
----
Almagro (86) - (1) Nadal

A few of the odds up, other games not properly up yet. Both Olaso and Granollers would be worth 1point atm

No odds atm for
Olaso - Granollers
Turnsunov - Istomin
I can't do it in the morning. If someone can the way to work em out. Is take the decimal format x10 and then -10
So for example Lorenzo is 1.71...x10...17.1...-10 = 7
1. Montanes bt Berankis
2. Andujar bt Zemlja
3. Dodig bt Bedene

I love this game of yours CJB, but since the serbinator is not in Barcelona I just don't have the fire to participate.

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Barcelona Open
IMO, thats kind of a sad thing to say socal...sounds like you only love tennis when Djokovic is playing. Out of 23 picks you're only ever going to make 4-7 when Djokovic is involved. The picking game is good for looking at the game as a whole. Anyway, here's my starters, Berankis was one of those guys who had the potential to be a top player but time is marching...he's 23 soon and only 5'9 tall...lets see how he gets on this week (he beat Haas at Houston recently).
1. Dodig bt Bedene
2. Rufin bt Lorenzo
3. Gulbis bt Stepanek
4. Berkanis bt Montanes

A test of knowledge now, without all the main names to make it easy. Sorts the men from the boys, meaning I won't win this!
Here we go......
1. Gulbis def Stepanek
2. Davydenko def Carbellas Baena
3. Andujar def Zemlja

Thanks for honesty Bog
Annoyingly thought about a joker on Tursunov with Ferrer coming off an injury.

Especially if you're stuck in that doghouse.
I've got all 3 picks wrong from the first 3...this isn't so much picking as clutching at straws!

Any chance of a table CJB?
(by the way, are the exams going ok? I have such fond memories of what you're doing now).

That sarcasm was drier than Ghandi's flipflop BB!
Yep, me too...that said isn't it all course work, and taking text books and calculators into the exam hall now?

Funny thing is that it was as much as test of pressure coping and agility as it was fact learning, which suited me well because I never did a days revision at school!!

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Barcelona Open
Ditto all that, hated studying...only gave it 2 weeks studying for my finals, Proplus pills washed down with coke were the order of the day!
There's pros and cons to each approach (course work vs exams) but you cant get away from the sink or swim nature of working in the real world. Its all about thriving under pressure...which is maybe why many of us are drawn to tennis!

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: Barcelona Open
Table done tonight, I promise
Odds for last two quarters which I couldn't do last night cos all games weren't played
Nadal (1) - (410) Ramos
Raonic (5) - (15) Robredo
18 Robredo bt Raonic (DJK)
Atm not doing exams, start 13th May just inundated with work cos I think my teachers have realised revising on my own isn't my favourite thing and setting me essays and such will work more effectively.

I did it, with only 1 Djoker used.
Come on guys, let's get more people involved - CJB is making the effort and getting something going the forum needs. Plus, I'm leading the race - what more could anyone want?

Agreed. The forum, like the game, needs variety. Surely everyone is sick and tired of discussing problems with the tour right now.
This is something different and gets you looking at all the current players.
CJB - well done on the effort here, much appreciated

And the first ever 100% pick. If only he'd put that on an accumulator.
I'm enjoying the game, but for the 500's and the 1-week 1000's the matches feel like they come to fast.

Thanks for the positive feedback guys
I think a key is us learning how many picks to use so we don't end up having to use 6 from the last 7 games for example

I think you got the number about right; I just took my eye off the ball.
I do agree that maybe restricting it to Masters & Slams might be a good idea, so we can avoid burnout. The picking game is much more physical than it used to be.......
