606v2 ATP Picking Game: French Open
1 game remaining
How to play:
- Every player has 32 picks. All picks must be used in mens main draw singles matches. The points besides each fixture represent the points you score if that
player wins. If your pick is wrong you LOSE 10 points. Whoever has the most points at the end of the tournament is the winner. To play post your picks on this thread, try to number them. A valid pick must be in the format Player A def/over Player B (Winner First). By the end of the tournament all 32 picks must be used, unused picks will be counted as losses. You are allowed to post picks each day until the match starts, so please check the order of play. All picks posted after play starts are invalid and can be replaced. A pick is void if a match does not take place due to withdrawal or a change in the draw but is valid if at least one point is played (so retirements count). Each player will also be able to place “Djoker Cards” on any FOUR of their 32 picks. If your "Djoker" pick wins you earn double winnings if he loses you will not lose any points. In case of more than one player being tied on the same score, the tiebreak will be number of right picks, if still tied then by 1st highest scoring pick, 2nd highest scoring
Ferrer (68) - (2) Nadal

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: French Open
like if I Pick all 32 of them in 1st round do they merit the same as 2nd round if some body else picked all 32 on tat round?, so say what If I picked all the seeded players 1st round and if they win would I score the maximum?

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: French Open
You'd get the points on offer. Someone else may pick an outsider on a Djoker and get shed loads of points.
Like if you pick against Nadal in R1 and Djoker it you'd probably get 900 points or something.

It's worked out on the likelihood of the event happening.
Nadal (1) Brands (400)
Janowicz (7) Ramos (12)
To take 2 1st round matches and hypothetical scores.
If you pick Nadal to beat Brands you will score 1 point. It's a low score because it's likely to happen. If you pick Brands to beat Nadal, you'd get 400 points because you'll have managed to predict something that wasn't predicted to happen. However the tournament isn't made up completely of these mismatches and you'll get a ties like Janowicz/Albert Ramos where one might imagine that the winner is harder to predict and so in my example you'd get 7 points for predicting a correct Janowicz win and 12 points for a Ramos win.
The points depend purely on the players invovled.

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: French Open
Yes ic. Course, by picking outsiders you risk losing 10 points for each loss - you do know there's a penalty of 10 for an error don't you?
It helps CJB if you number your picks, by the way (see others).

Yup I got that, playing my first picking game, so playing my natural gambling style like Federer, if clicks I win by handsome margin if bad day I will shank an lose

Re: 606v2 ATP Picking Game: French Open
Nothing particularly attractive today. But I wont be on for a few days, so I need to make some big picks
3) Melzer d Sijsling
4) Russel d Klizan
5) Ramos d Janowicz
6) Nadal d Brands
7) Riba d Rosol
8) Gasquet d Przysiezny
9) Monaco d Gimeno Traver
10) Mathieu d Niemenen
11) Harrison d Kutzenov
12) Tsonga d Bedene
This is a radical departure from my usual tactics, but its a grand slam and I need to make some serious ground to get to #1, so its Hail Mary time

Rufin is a good young prospect and Haas had withdrawn from his last match. In this present match he narrowly lost the first set on TB but doesn't seem too far fetched. However, it was a calculated risk at winning more picking games points that actual core belief he will win - I was 60/40 for Haas so took a risk that Rufin could ruffle...

I wavered over Rufin, picked Haas, then gave the match up. It was over Haas's illness, as lydian says.
However, it looks to be going the way of the veteran.

Jack Sock is better, he looks every bit of Jim Courier, if only Jack has Jim's clay court movements we should be seeing a potential FO winner, but unfortunately given his movement in clay I would be surprised if he pass 3rd round test ever in FO in his life time, but certainly a future top 10 prospect, brilliant win over Garcia Lopez in st.sets today, earned me $720 for $60 of bet to win in st.sets.
He should have sky rocketed me up in the Picking game as well, since I played him as the JOker
