Connacht V Glasgow Warriors, 1945hrs, Friday, 3 May 2013
First topic message reminder :
Ok - here goes for the last time (in the league) this season.
Does Toonie go for it with all guns blazing ? Or does he settle for third and a likely trip to Dublin - where we have never won but should have a few weeks ago due to bizarre ref decisions - and rest players for the play offs ?
Good article in The Herald re DD :-

Glasgow are so much better with Matawalu on the field, Pyrgos is very very average. With Cusiter seemingly constantly injured I feel we need to search for an additional scrumhalf or two as Nico's back up.

I'm sure UNICEF can afford to buy the Sportsground a bloody roof - surely a human rights issue?
Don't get me wrong, coming from the Hebrides I appreciate the exfoliating properties of rain blown into your face at terminal velocity, but it does reduce the skill level of games played in Connacht by an order of magnitude.

haha, it did look a bit breezy.
Looking forward to this Semi.. I think Leinster will win but I'm still really excited. Will Hogg start at 10? Looked good there tonight, his kicking was bloody good too.

Was surprised at Jackson getting MOTM, felt that Nico and Maitland both did more than him in their short time on the field.

RD as always you are the voice of reason and magnanimity. Travel in hope to Dublin but over the season 2 pits dropped v MFLs and that Scarlets game - when they are garbage too ! Oh well Dublin it is.

That's the other thing I was thinking at the time of the 1872 games - you dominated us in both games but failed to get the TBP - would have made such a difference.

Rdw - that would have been our rock hard defence getting in the way though.....
Well done glasgow, looking forward to seeing you take on leinster in the playoffs. Get matawalu, maitland and hoggy starting that game though!

The game that truly came back to haunt us was back in November when we lost at home to Leinster 0-6. Missed all our kicks at goal and had two men binned. What a difference that game made.
Think we're due a result against them....

I missed the game tonight because I was freezing my baws off at Murrayfield - is it worth watching back on Iplayer? Should I just skip the first half??

Glasgow were so convincing in all facets of that game. They may yet win this whole gig. They are so dangerous. I'd rather have had a hapless Scarlets. Or Ulster even.
Either way, by the way, Treviso the Team Of The Season. 4 pts behind Munster. Beware.
If the Lions included Italians, the PRO12 would have had even more domination on the Tour to Oz. It's embarrassing enough already.
The PRO12 Rocks.

Here's to you Gib. Going to be an absolute cracker!
Next Saturday, I'll have finished the first day of the West Highland Way - impeccable timing as always. Anyone know a good pub in Drymen to watch the game?

Bru, as luck would have it, you'll be about a mile from where I grew up, and the establishment you want to be making your way to is the Clachan Inn, altho it's years since I've been there so couldn't testify to its even having a tV, let alone decent and But it's certainly worth a look
Hopefully next weekend will see much better conditions in Dublin, more suited to the offloading game that Toonie has developed for the Weegies

Aye ASBO in my biker days we used to roar up to Carbeth, then Drymen to the Clachan. Owner was a guy called Planck - he was a bit of a one too as a blue nose, wendyballer . He banned bikers for a while as he seemed to think his wee pub should get a Michelin star or something. Defo not a rugby pub then mind but they did show the big ints.
BTW sports report on the BBC News an utter disgrace- mention of Ulster, Leinster and Scarlets ffs - bimbo moron did not even mention Glasgow. Would rather watch the news read by Hugh Dan the Heedrum Hodrum man !

Well the BBC have every other game up on IPlayer already apart from the Glasgow one, so had to settle for highlights on the Rabbo website. A few points:
Sean Lamont passed for VDM try!!
Hogg looks to be a decent place kicker - I know he has been working on it
Niko - no more needs to be said.
Maitland - classy finish
Jackson - he should be dropped next week, based on the fact that he regularly swings between MOTM and bad amateur! MOTM this week - I bet he won't know his erse from his elbow next week!

Yes Jacko was ok last night but I thought Lamont and Horne were the real heroes- tough game in tough conditions. Hogg kicked very well. Maybe Hornee furra Linee at 10, Dunbar 12 and Jacko as bench 10 for Dublin.

You'll probably have to buy your pint in groats, pebbles or trade in your magical pagan wristwatch.AsLongAsBut100ofUs wrote:funnyExiledScot wrote:Jeez, are you sure that pub still exists asbo? Is there an asbo statue in the town square?

Re: Connacht V Glasgow Warriors, 1945hrs, Friday, 3 May 2013
Thanks for the advice folks - I'll check it out when I'm there. Fingers crossed, and all that.
AS, if there's not at least a blue plaque of posterity, I'm going to be very upset. I fully intend for there to be gold stars throughout the lovely streets of Southampton marking where I drunkenly fell over as a dirty, dirty student. Just to remind me that there were days when I was excited by more than the prospect of a gin & tonic and Question Time.
Frankly, if I have my way, Scotstoun will be a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
