Tried formatting that, but it didn’t work.
So – no Olding, Chris Farrell or Henshaw. Farrell has been injured all season, so I’d imagine it’s just bad luck for him.
Henshaw will probably be with the senior team in North America, Olding might well be with the Emerging Ireland team.

Yellow card for offside in the opposition half is very harsh.

Can you explain that for those of us less au fait with the rules of cricket?kiakahaaotearoa wrote:Just as well this isn't cricket as otherwise the ref would have to hop around on one leg with this score.
Anyway NZ leading 14-11 and Ireland have a player in the bin.he 1st 10 minutes of the 2nd half will be tough as NZ are just so good at offloading and making metres out wide.

We were on a team warning from the last breakdown penalty we gave away.

Fair enough call. He seems very reluctant to apply that to their scrum though. The last free kick he gave against us at scrum time was ridiculous.

Re: Ireland JWC Squad
Ireland just have to stay mentally in this game - even if losing. That'll be the main test I'll be looking for in the next half. They have to keep the spirit and keep playing, as they would do against any other opposition. They just have to learn not to be intimidated into capitulation.

Re: Ireland JWC Squad
This is tougher rugby than the senior game. Less time between games? Less half time break duration too it seems....

Re: Ireland JWC Squad
Well when the score is on 111 in cricket it is called a Nelson and any multiples of that number there are umpires who stand on one leg out of superstition. Sometimes it takes a while to get score in cricket so you can be standing for some time. Technically 11 11 isn't a Nelson but it's been bloody hot here today and the beer is kicking in.
Good game on in the second half. NZ looked stronger near the end of the second half and the Irish boys looked to be tiring. Let's see what happens after the break. Slainté you feckers.

No worries mate. Worrying for Ireland. Every time it goes wide off set piece the NZ backs seem to gain metres with ease without doing much. Defence needs to come up quicker in the line if they're going to stop them from getting over the advantage line.

Think the ref is giving NZ every chance at scrum time despite the fact that we've been very dominant there.

Im not talking about the scoreline Dodger. They are on a different level to us with ball in hand and and ruck play.

Our backline play has been very good, particularly in midfield. Breakdown has been the only real let down as the set piece has been quite good.

I don't think we'll get there to a win...indeed I'd still worry about New Zealand coming back for a final flourish. But it seems Ireland have hit the marathan wall and no longer are afraid. That the psychological bonus I'm simply looking for in this game. Losing fear.

TBH, we are just having a go, because we were out of it and are now playing freely.
Great to see a Keewee side being terrorised. And they are right now. A rare and beautiful sight.
Hope the Senior side are watching this.

They're at a different level to us physically and while I'd agree they're ahead us skills wise it isn't that big of a gap imo.LeinsterFan4life wrote:Im not talking about the scoreline Dodger. They are on a different level to us with ball in hand and and ruck play.

This we are showing right now. We are playing with freedom and they don't like it. Simple as that.

What was that penalty for with 5 minutes left when the Kiwi didn't roll away it looked like he gave us the penalty then reversed it.That should have been a yellow for them really imo.

This will be our best ever finish at a WC so and this wasn't considered to be that strong a team.

The kiwi wasn't blocking the ball and the ref called it. Then the Irish player started kicking out at the kiwi on the floor. So penalty. Pretty straight forward.
And yeah England are through. Although if France beat south Africa heavily without scoring tries Ireland could still go through (not should about Argentina who are also on 10 points)

Re: Ireland JWC Squad
Yep, proud of the effort, especially when they looked mentally and physically out of it straight after half time.
But simply, it's refreshing to see anything attacking towards the end of a game in an Irish jersey...when it's against New Zealand it's a bonus.
