I don't want to knock today's players. Unlike some of the 90s players, I like most of today's players.

Bazza keeping his hopes alive with some cracking stuff. You still have to say Ronnie is a hot favourite to win though. Looks like being 15-12 soon.

I am not knocking them but have to be honest - all-time greats they aren't.

You know what?
If Barry had played anyone other than Ronnie, I think he would have won this.
But this is Ronnie. Miss and out!

If you look at it there has been at least four frames today that Barry got in first and broke down and Ronnie mopped up. You just cannot afford to do that against Ronnie.

Snooker needs to travel the globe though in order to promote it and make it a far more global sport.

One thing I do agree with is that there is too much traveling to China and back.
Should have an "Asian Swing" a la golf.

Of course, but players are getting blackmailed into playing all around the world and then Barry sneers at them for complaining of tiredness. How many players stay in 5 star hotels when they travel, I wonder.

Thought Hendry would have got the last mini-session with Dennis.
BBC obviously see DT as #1, Virgo/Hendry as #2.

Yes I do feel things need trimming down a bit. How about have one tournament in each of the continents ie Asia (China), Australasia (Australia), North America (USA), South America (say Brazil) and Africa (say South Africa) and the British season and that would be it (around eight to ten tournaments).

Anyway like I said earlier Ronnie has been the best player in the tournament and deserves the win - there can be no argument there. It would have been nice to have seen him tested though.

With a couple of tournaments such as the World Open moving around the world each year. China needs 3 events I'd say; 5 is overkill.

I don't see Barry challenging for the WC again, which is a shame, but I don't think he's good enough. Dave's right I think; anyone else and he would have won however it wasn't anyone else.

Ronnie turned pro in 93 so why didn't he dominate Hendry in the 90's?

Re: 2013 World Snooker Championship Part II
The thing is I look at the matches Stephen came through to win his titles and he had legends of the green beize to overcome. Ronnie I think would have gained more admiration from me if he had beaten all-time greats in the final instead of Dott, Carter (twice) and Hawkins. Well played to Ronnie - the most naturally-talented player ever but NOT the greatest ever.

I cannot see it. Higgins is a spent force now me thinks. Williams also there is whispering that he will retire.

Equal, possibly, but I can't see him winning 3 more. Even if he wins the next 3, for 5 in a row, he'd be 40. I don't see that happening.Dave. wrote:If Ronnie stays, now, can he beat Hendry's total?

MJW is, I don't think Higgins is. He won a major event this year, hit 2 147's and is probably just tired. If he cuts down his travelling time, it will help him physically and mentally.

Re: 2013 World Snooker Championship Part II
Perhaps TSJ. Perhaps he should go down the Ronnie route and cut right down on the tournaments and come to The Crucible fresh as should Selby.
I feel that the authorities should make two global tournaments compulsory (China Open and one other) and three UK tournies compulsory. That way players can plan their season a little more.

Best player won , and in all honesty i hope he is back next to defend it .
Can he match or over take Hendrys record of 7 ? lets be honest he should already of done that . Will he ? No simply because i dont thinl he will play on long enough , but if he did play another say 5 years then Yes he can because he is just that damn good .

Re: 2013 World Snooker Championship Part II
Sorry but why exactly should he already have done that? He has never lost any world finals that he should have won has he? His fertile times winning world titles wasn't the 'weak 90's' either. That tells me competition was tougher then and too tough for him to break. It was into the 2000's when Dott, Carter, Ebdon and such like became contenders that the titles started to flow. O'Sullivan is rightly seen as an all-time great but to say he is or should be greatest ever is forgetting he failed to dominate Stephen Hendry at The Crucible.

This reminds me of the old 606, where the mods were forever deleting posts and closing threads where Hendry lovers / haters would insult each other over and over and over and over and over and over

Re: 2013 World Snooker Championship Part II
If O'Sullivan does play for the next 10 years, he could easily win them all and take his World Title tally to 15! On another note did anyone see Darts greatest player the 16 Times World Champion Phil the Power Taylor on the TV screen when Ronnie picked up the Trophy? I wonder who is the greater sportsman of these 2 UK born stars?
