Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
First topic message reminder :
Reasons why Khan will be next for Floyd:
1. Floyd needs a knockout.
12-round masterclasses are manna from heaven for purists (and are great for Floyd's health), however, boxing fans are unlikely to shell out another $600 to see him run rings around his next opponent in the same manner he did Guerrero. Khan would allow Floyd to excite.
2. He also needs a fresh angle
A UK invasion would be huge. If tickets prices were sensible, there isn't any reason he couldn't sell out a football stadium. Fans would rush to tick "see Floyd fight live" off their bucket list.
3. Khan is a marquee name and his style makes for helter-skelter action
Khan is well-known in the US and the UK -- the fight would be marketable. Floyd could fight the same way he did Saturday yet look far more exciting in doing so. Khan would rush him repeatedly (and likely be floored numerous times in the process).
4. Pacquiao is busy. Marquez, too. Golden Boy are unlikely to throw Garcia to the lions just yet.
Pacquiao and Marquez are set to take on Rios and Bradley later this year. The Top Rank-GBP war would prove a huge barrier to those fights taking place had they been free in any case.
5. The Alvarez fight will be bigger next year.
Floyd may decide to round out his Showtime deal against "Canelo". It would be the perfect way to go out. Alvarez seems likely to take on Cotto next.

I haven't got a vendetta with anybody..........Talk about hyperbole...
All I asked was for someone to formulate an argument for Whittaker over Floyd....
None was forthcoming....
This is a Mayweather thread...right??

No it was technically an Amir Khan thread! The fact Mayweather's name is in the thread title doesn't mean he is the main subject area for the thread.
Which is why I said either discuss why Khan isn't next for Floyd or why he is. Which you did to begin with...then started making quips in relation to the discussion around Floyd/Whittaker and since then the thread descended!

Semantics...........All threads veer off topic...........Fury threads turn into Haye/Price............Klit's turn into Haye and ducking..........Floyd's turn into Manny ducking...
You're too sensitive....Or just unhappy with your rebuttal and trying to save face...I'll give you the benefit of the doubt and call the former!!

There's a difference between veering off topic and being deliberately driven into a parallel subject to fuel one person's particular grievance.

That's ok, will leave you to create arguments out of thin air until you're the only one left to argue with (yourself).

If Khan couldn't land a glove on Paul McCloskey, how will he ever expect to hit Floyd Mayweather.
Plus Floyd hits back, unlike McCloskey did.

Didn't Khan win every round against Mcloskey...........
Pretty good feat for someone who never hit him..

He was the active fighter Truss.
McCloskey creamed his pants on the big stage, but he made Khan look awful by moving. You should try watching it maybe.......or not.

I imagine Floyd won't cream his pants and will be active...

Re: Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
Its true though, Mayweather wont be running away all night, I imagine he'll lay traps for Khan all night and probably trap him in a few of em before choosing to finish him off. That said how damaging is it to his legacy to lose to Khan?

Re: Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
Khan doesn't deserve the fight regardless.
He isn't anywhere near the level or fought anywhere near the level of Mayweather.
Maybe a fight against Broner first after he dispatches Paulie.

Re: Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
Khan's fought at the level of many of Floyd's other opponents (and no, Truss, I'm not saying that as a slight on Floyd) so I don't see as that's the issue. Khan will make him more money than anyone else in the UK, in the US I'm not so sure, would expect Garcia to make him more money for example.

Re: Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
Floyd's opponents normally get chosen after a stand out win against a credible opponent or in Cotto's case, his revenge against Brick Fists.
Khan hasn't beaten anyone who is considered an elite fighter.
Maidana he gets kudos for, but then look at what Alexander showed Maidana to be.
Khan needs to beat Peterson and Garcia in rematches to be even mentioned in the same sentence as Floyd.
People are overlooking the fact he is still doing his rubberleggin' against an aged lightweight fighting at a catchweight.
It would be a shame if it was Khan next

Crass or not, doesn't make it any less true.
Perhaps if you were to briefly remove your head, you might be able to spell the word "anatomy"

Why change a winning formula. You guys are spinning like dervishes trying to find an angle, but the simple facts is that the one record Truss has played is better than the symphony you guys are orchestrating.

He already did. He beat a juiced up Peterson.
If it was another boxer you guys would have discounted that 'win' for Peterson. Issues again.

Do you want to do us all a favour, Az, and stop implying that anyone who doesn't share your views on Khan is a racist, please? Kind request. Thanks.

Re: Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
No racism Mr 88. The issue is the unhinged and irrational dislike of him....to the extent that some claim the juicer is a legit win. Were it to happen to another boxer people would be less irrational.

Genuine apologies if I'm getting the wrong end of the stick, then, but with all due respect I doubt there's a single poster on here who can't remember at least one time when you've used the term 'issues' with racial connotations when discussing fighters other than Khan. Like the judges with 'issues' who scored Cooney-Holmes as a competitive fight before Cooney was stopped.
Anyway, if I'm wrong I'm sorry.

No worries. "Issues" is a generic term.
The Holmes/Cooney fight was one sided with a few moments of interest for Cooney.

Remove the point deductions and Khan 'beat' juiced Peterson by a point. Maybe. Hardly conclusive enough to laud him for.
For what it's worth I think LP should've been stripped, banned and the fight made a NC.

The juice enhanced his performance. The KO is speculation. But Khan winning against a clean LP is without doubt.

Re: Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
They fought once before. Khan was the better fighter against a juiced LP. Dodgy points deductions cost him the fight.
LP's performance was illegally enhanced. I don't know what you're missing here. You really must dislike Khan to give the benefit of any doubt to a juiced cheater.

Uhh, I said he beats him just that nothing's a formality when talking about khan atm
With khan he's always at risk of being stopped and Peterson is better than Diaz

I reckon it still is. Of course the risk is there, but LP doesn;t hit hard enough. After all he hit Khan with some very good shots but Khan didnt wilt.

He took LP's best without hitting the deck. He took some good shots against Diaz who is a bigger puncher than LP.

Re: Why Khan Will Be Next For Floyd
Your probably right, but I just think that Peterson who stood up to Ortiz would have the pop and durability to push khan close again and I honestly think that khan's punch resistance is getting worse
Diaz is a decent puncher, but he's never shown it at world level and he's a natural lightweight
