Ring Kings!!!
How did this game get so little funding? Watch the video, sounds like the boxing manager game most fans have been waiting for.

Re: Ring Kings!!!
It's not made yet. They put the idea on Kickstarter to get funding from fans in order to avoid going to a publishing company who would have altered and dumbed down the premise to appeal to casual fans.
They were asking for £300,000 and achieved less than £1000. i can only assume that this is because fans were unaware of the campaign as this seems to be the kind of game that people on forums have been begging for.
Hopefully this poor response will not result in this game being canned or ruined by the gaming industry.

Its just a matter of time before they realise its a waste of time and one of the major gaming organisations will create a similar game. Its called branding... if EA Sports or SI games make a boxing game are you gonna buy it from them or from some random developers?

He wouldn't give them money, he's not exactly in need of advertising. In fact, he'd probably expect paying for use of his likeness.
I think he priced himself out of EA's Fight Night Series? So I doubt these guys could afford him.

Depends on the quality of the game. I have bought some terrible Boxing manager games from small companies in search of a good one and still no luck. The big companies like EA have no interest in creating a game like this, their Fight Night gaming forum has been calling for it for years.

Quality and how realistic it is, if theirs a demand and its cost effective then EA might start developing a boxing manager game.

could they not go on dragons den or something similar?
Just seems unlikey they will raise 300,000 if they have only managed 1000 so far.

A game like this isn't going to do big numbers hence the lack of interest from the big companies. The game is aimed at the informed and devoted boxing fans, which, although not a small group, is not a large enough audience to tempt the big companies into producing a game aimed at them. This, therefore, is probably why the company creating Ring Kings made the request to boxing fans, they probably felt that if their small primary audience are so interested in a game such as this being created they should help in the funding.

Doubtful, the Dragon's Den is all about big profit which this game most likely will not yield. The only way this game gets made as the creators intend and the fans desire is if it is funded by numerous small donations from the boxing fan community.

Re: Ring Kings!!!
Poor advertising is what kills a lot of Kickstart products and seems to have done so once again. Its a great funding source though and would have been the ideal source to create such a game.
As for the bigger publishers putting their hand in their pocket... not a chance. There's just not the money in it to make it worth while, if a company with history of Obsidian can't get £1m from a major publisher for a game in a bigger genre then this doesn't stand a chance.
It's a shame but hopefully they won't give up the Kickstart idea just maybe liase with some major Boxing forums and get the word out there first.

Re: Ring Kings!!!
They posted about the idea on Boxing scene quite a while back with a few screenshots and the overall intention of the game. It is strange, therefore with the positive reception received, that they didn't return to the forums to request support for the project.
