Priestland out of Wales tour
Patchell in
Also, Sam Parry the Dragon's hooker has been called up
Sad for Rhys but he does seem injury prone

Re: Priestland out of Wales tour
Rhys should never have been rushed back that close to the end of the season, he would have been better off being allowed to rest up over the last few weeks and get himself relaxed and ready for the new season. That said not too sure he is injury prone, as such, when he got injured during the Exeter game, that was his first injury (as a pro) and then this is just a case of pushing himself (being pushed) back too soon imo.
Good news for Patchell, although I am surprised that Owen Williams wasn't called up instead, I would have thought he would have gone to the U20s, and with Owen Williams heading to Leicester would have been logical to cap, and let him know he is on the radar.
I am guessing if Sam Parry has been called up then Ken is also a serious doubt?

I dunno - The turks have said Ken Owens injury isn't serious, but it was his neck so I guess they are being extra cautious ?

Some are saying it could be career ending for Preistland.

Shingler is the 10 cover, but does that leave us light in the back 3? Patchell and Dee should have been let go to France with the U20s. This squad is due to be cut down to 27, so who do you think will be going? Hobbs is one obvious omission for me...

I agree, SS, the logical thing to do would be to leave RP with the U20s and bring in Owen Williams, at least to tie him in, although in fact he looks like the real deal at 10, to me.

While I agree that Patchell should probably have stayed with the U20s, I also really want to see him get capped - and get to play alongside 2 quality centres
Patchell & Beck could cause havok, makes up for the unimpressive wingers on tour.

If that's true it would be a horrible way to go out
Not to mention it would screw the Scarlets up next season - Shingler would be the only 10 left standing, and he seems to play mostly at 13 or 15. Not many short term option either this late in the season.

Welsh posters on another board I'm on. I'm not just saying it for the sake of it. If his achilles tendon is properly gone he's looking at least 6 months out and a very tough return after that as if its not right it will just go again, which seems to be what happened this time. They thought it was fixed and then its gone again in training. So he could be heading towards a year without playing rugby, not easy to come back from.

Agreed though IMO Patchell is the future so have to say I am pleased he will get a chance to impress

I am not convinced by Beck, great hands and feet and super strong but when I have seen him play he seems to get his defensive positions wrong and also struggles for pace at the top level. Patchel on the other hand looks seriously quick!
I agree with your comment about the unimpressive wingers, the only recognised wing in the squad is Harry Robinson who has not impressed for the Blues this season. I assume the plan is to play Liam Williams or Prydie, both of whom are far more comfortable at 15 as wings.

Re: Priestland out of Wales tour
Agree on Beck's defence, it's been one of those revolving, barn doors (as they call it) at times. Teams would love to run down a channel with Biggar and Beck as the only defenders. Spratt/Bishop with Beck at 13 could be a good partnership for Ospreys next year, it needs work though obviously.
I don't think its fair to take players from the U20s and Prydie's career just shows its pointless capping them ASAP. Did Ben John or Jon Spratt not get a call? Surprising actually considering they've played fairly often this season, as has Adam Hughes. All 3 of them can play on the wing.

Priestland out of Wales tour.
Luke Chadwick omitted from England football squad.
Similar analogy.

Adam Hughes has missed a fair bit of this season through injury, Saint.

Re: Priestland out of Wales tour
He's good on the wing but much better at outside centre. We've missed him this season.
