Lions rumours...
Thought I'd start a thread for gossip from the lions camp, nothing too negative (unless deserved of course) but any gossip any of us hear over the next few weeks...
I'll start, an old acquaintance has msg'd me and he has heard from a mate at the Vale that a certain Sarries player was not impressed with the chryo at all, and only did the bare minimum before getting as far away as possible. He won't name any names but I can only think it's Matt Stevens, I can't imagine the younger boys not seeing it as a challenge or adventure.
Just a rumour though, how accurate it is I don't know, and the Stevens mention was a total guess on my part, here's hoping youve got something better

Wouldn't you say Mako? Be a bit like Toby isn't a massive fan of it after getting his hair frozen

Re: Lions rumours...
Never really thought of that, but my instincts still say Stevens. Getting on a bit and limited ability for development physiologically, with he and POC/BOD/Jones training methods being maintenance over development I can't imagine it helping that much.
A lot of the Wales training camps conditioning claims were more placebo than actual around world cup time, sceptical older players probably saw through it then and now.

Who was it that DOC took the bed apart of, hid it out on the fire escape and that was their first official meet?

Re: Lions rumours...
I have it on good authority that the Aussies are not happy at all that somebody inside their camp has been giving Gatland and Co the insider knowledge on all the Aussie players and tactics, they also blew the whistle on who is injured and what injuries they have and what players are most likely to be picked for the first test, please do not push me on this, it's just information I have got from somebody well inside the game.

Stevens is a martial arts black belt in his spare time, despite his gut he is supposed to be a fan of the gym and physical exertion. Farrell strikes me as being limited in terms of commitment.

Why is he unwrapping his hands and lining up a kick with the eyes at the same time???

well one hopes that behind a strong pack he will perform with the assurance he has shown at times for england, fact is for me with pops as a selector he had to be OUTSTANDING to go and i just don't think he is....so much 'the new jonny' hype in the last year, he is at least a year or two of established form away from lions contention but the 10 pickings are so lamentable he gets the nod as understudy

Re: Lions rumours...
That sounds about right, but the fact is he was picked so we ALL have to get behind him.
Maybe the drop in form is because his dad is coach and he feels he has that much more to prove that he is there on merit.
Ask anyone who has worked for their father they will tell you they had to do twice as much to get any recognition.

Before selection I had him there on merit, he was excellent all season and in the 6N, but since he's had a few nightmare games, missing key kicks at goal and struggling when not on front foot ball.
Which is why I wouldn't want to see Jonny, when things are going wrong he looked poor, but behind the Toulon pack he is never on the backfoot long enough to show if he's improved there!

Its the overdefensivness / paranoia of the fans again. Something you do on occasion.
There is no hate towards farrell, there is some concern that he is suffering a dip in form right now. But if you are an england fan this can be seen as "farrell hating"

Two Lions wins... One Australian come-back game at the end, Biltong. It's official. It's all legally binding. Lions will not leave Europe unless Australia sign up to that agreement.
What? You all thought it was sport???? - Lions have to win this series or the series becomes unmarketable. The result was all sorted out in a boardroom two months ago. Fact.

Hate?
Why would anyone hate him?
A lot of people think he is a poor selection but I don't think anyone hates him. Immature choice of words there I think

Yes and the price of beer & fags went up after the Federal Budget last Tuesday.
The Lions Fans Whinger's Tax Bill (payable in advance at airport customs) will most likely be passed in a special sitting this week...

Congrats Linebreaker for being the first 'Whinger' comment of the season that I've personally detected. Good on'ye, mate - the Aussies sure know how to memorize a good tune. Glad to see it still doing the charts.

Difficult to kick drop-goals from a tight commentary position up in the stands...but doable for the kicking maestro. Yeah, good tactical move by Gats.

There a rumor that Wilkenson is the best kicker in the world
Of course stats disprove that, but it does not stop the commentators getting a lob on every he comes up to kick

It has always been the case. When he played international they kept commenting how he was the best kicker around and had the best stats, even though at the same time Chris Patterson had not missed a kick in 2 years
He has good stats, but nothing special

Not quite true, that was a rumor started by other fans to belittle him
45 yards was his range
And he hit it from the side lines every time
