The Rabo Pro12 Final - RDS - 25th May - Leinster V Ulster
First topic message reminder :
Well, there's been little chat on here for Ulster fans lately, so I decided to create a thread to try an encourage some build up!
My wifes birthday is on friday, and I long ago booked myself to do some work in Galway that day. Naughty naughty Clive! To make up for it, I booked a long weekend for the missus and the wee man to come.
Then I realise when the Rabo Final is. Long story short, I've rearranged hotels, Travelling from Galway to Dublin hotel for the weekend, and got two tickets through the supporters club!
I'll be in the North Stand, and we are going to attempt to bring little Ruan in the baby carrier! Is that mad???
Anyways, I'll put team info in here when it becomes available.
I have this weird fantasy that keeps coming to me, that Ferris will surprisingly be fit and named after having been kept top secret! There has been no timescale on his current injury since February when they stated he would probably miss the season.
Will Luke Marshall be allowed to play?
Any injury worries?
Will Leinster care more about this game than they did the Amlin final? (Honestly, barely a smile at final whistle!)

Leinster like to play kidology over the injuries, they haven't officially ruled O'Brien out but Warren Gatland has said O'Brien will miss at the very least the Barbarians game;
http://www.irishtimes.com/sport/rugby/international/warren-gatland-rules-seán-o-brien-out-of-pro12-final-1.1400280
Very professional Warren! Ulster coaching staff take note of that.

My guess is it's Heineken Cups, league championships or the number of times Cian Healey has eaten salad.
I got chatting to a bloke in a Leinster jersey (and sunglasses perched atop his head) at the Searsons on Friday night (after the "£$%^&@ had cut in front of me in the queue), and after he'd admired the 4 stars (well, the Southern Cross) on my Crusaders jersey I pointed out gently that we'd stopped at 4 stars because 7 would be bragging.
(well he had queue jumped ... )

“He has come in and been looked at by the medics,” said Gatland. “Hopefully he’s going to spend this week with us. It’s a bit of bone bruising by all accounts. That’s only a couple of weeks maybe. We are just hoping it’s not longer than that."
That to me sounds like he's still under Leinster control but just went into Lions camp to have them assess him for their plans down the line. He'll stay the week Lions ..and beyond... if Schmidt decides his season is over.
I'd suggest quite a few Leinster players will miss the Barbarian game...not just O'Brien.

It would be a big shock if he played now.
None of the other Leinster lions have joined up with the squad yet and he's already under the care of the Lions medical team.

Well he's obviously the only one of the Leinster guys that the Lions people wanted to have a look at to see how he'll fit into their plans post Barbarians.
Yeah, it might very well be his season over. But Schmidt and his medics will/have decided that, not Gatland. It's the 'hopefully' bit I'm alluding to. Gatland doesn't use non-possessive language unless he has to.

Why have the extra stars on your jersey when you got them on your lips?

It wasn't me in Searsons on Saturday - we were at the Punchbowl pre-match and Cassidys post. Though I thought JenniferMcL carried off the yellow "Clermont for the day, Leinster for life") t-shirt & sunglasses combo well enough Saturday.
And Mrs P, from memory I was queuing to buy Gibbo a drink (hazy memory there)

Very annoying that Gatland is feeding the media injury updates on Leinster players. Just give it a fuggin week Warren, knowledge is power.

Not if anything is to be gleaned from their PR geniuses sanctioning an official Lions communication consisting of a photograph of a wild animal with its testicles impaled on a railing. Quite difficult to find the irony in that. I can only imagine what kind of specialist websites are needed to find that kind of content...Mickado wrote:Very annoying that Gatland is feeding the media injury updates on Leinster players. Yeah, I saw that too, horrible. And the comment before the Lions squad announcement "how are you all feeling, excited, happy, suicidal?". Both tweets deleted, no apology made. I mean, a Lion hunting/chasing a Springbok would have been apt, not graphic, and at least a natural occurrence, but showing an injured animal like that was just a bit sickening...
As my ma would say, they need to take a long walk down cop the fug on street.

Stop moaning Clive, it's a promotional tool pure and simple, it's not meant to be an Oscar wining performance.

The guy is poor. Full Stop. Really well shot. Excellent in fact.
The content is fine, its just the delivery. I'm not going to agree that this was good. It could have been.
(Its what I do by the way, so that gives me some license to pass comment!)
But hey, Northern Ireland has always been satisfied to be below par in terms of media production. You just have to look at UTV and BBC NI tv and adverts.

Have to agree. NI productions are generally abysmal. However, I was plesantly surprised with the new NI crime drama "the fall" with Gillian Anderson. Its actually quite good.

Do you normally go onto forums and declare what people are or are not allowed to say?
Theres been an uncomfortable level of hostility creeping in here in recent months. I don't understand it. We all come here to read stuff, and to post stuff. Whether we like what we read or did not, it all still comes under the 'leisure' part of your life. It gives you something to do. I do n't get why people argue. If you don't like it, ignore it. Unless of course you class arguing as valid leisure time activity. In fact I'm certain that is exactly the plague spreading on here. People enjoy confrontation.

A wee bit Belshaft centric though, they could have filmed him on the big dipper at Barry's or at that Asda at Strabane or something...
Win or loose these fellas are legends, a tin cup doesn't make a team winners but by jeebus if anyone deserves a medal to hang above the toilet its these guys. SUFTUM.

Next you will be moaning about Chris Henry's tweets aren't insightful enough or Andrew Trimbles hair isn't blond enough. Stop with the blooming moaning, it's boring!
I'm sorry you feel that way, but I'm a rather level headed peson. re. the tickets, (which the Great Aukster 'moaned' about just yesterday), Notch gave a very good counter explanation which i am happy to accept despite not having necessarily said so. The incident with the STH, was an over-reaction on my part due to seeing my wife reduced to tears by anothr man. If you read through that article, you will see how my position on the matter changed as people reasoned with me. That thread gave people who were looking for something to do, something to do.
What I'm not happy with is when people take a few instances and then put you in a box in their mind, convniantly forgetting any instances that are contrary to your judgement.
I also don't like when people assume you dislike STHs, on the basis of a criticism of one indivual, or the UR ticketing policy.
People have got me wrong.
I will make a sincere efort to moan less though...

It's a you tube video being used as a promotional tool noting more nothing less!
Very witty!

My intention isn't to make an arse out of you mate, it just comes accross that you can be a bit negative sometimes, when you really dont need to be. you seem like a sound enough fella and in true belfast fashion i was trying to help you by being a bit blunt and sarcastic. That video, while not being the best, highlighted a some real highs and lows of this emotional season and yet you only saw fit to ridicule the acting ability of the narrator. It is about the message it was representing not the manner it was presented.

Reminds me of the life of Brian when he declared to a crowd "We are all induviduals"
One person in the crowd piped up "I'm not"

Awh Clive.
It is just joshing!
But, you do moan a fair bit.
Lack of tickets/Season Ticket holders being allowed to buy tickets to knock out games/Kids being allowed to go to games(although the fact that you are now planning to bring yours may change your mind)/STH wanting to sit in there own seat/Unsold tickets which actually were sold/videos/....
I hope you enjoy the match!
