The Movie Cup final Round - numbers
Congratulations to Bull who has won the title of v2 Movie Cup champ 2013.
Still the prize for 2nd place is on the go so make sure to vote for your fave 2 in this final round.
Next week the music cup starts - if you want to join in, sign up here - https://www.606v2.com/t43202-the-music-cup-2013
It would be great to get some new names involved.
Here are the last nominations from this years cup:
The 40 Year old Virgin
12 Monkeys
Four Weddings and a funeral
21 Jump Street
28 Days Later
12 Angry Men
The Fifth Element
One Flew over the Cuckoos Nest
2001 A Space Odyssey
The Three Amigos
Se7en
2001: A Space Odyssey - creepy yet scarily watchable, and it's all about the HAL 9000. Don't vote for this, and a little voice will say to you "Just what do you think you're doing, Dave?"
12 Angry Men - Cult classic and one of the best films there is!
One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest - one of the greatest films ever made, and quite possible the best ending ever.
21 Jump street - Very funny film with a funny cast.
The Three Amigo's - 3 comedy greats come together to star in this brilliant John Landis directed comedy. Hilarious.
See you next year..

Voted for Se7en. Great film even though I'm not a massive fan of Brad Pitt. One of Finchers best works.

Re: The Movie Cup final Round - numbers
Se7en is one of my most hated films, it's one of those reputation-based films that makes you uncool unless you love it. God I hate that film, it's really boring, lacks anything resembling excitement, and the ending was entirely predictable. Honestly people, you need to take a long hard look at yourselves

I just watched it and really liked it. Didn't realise that made me cool or not.

Re: The Movie Cup final Round - numbers
Well you got that right.
Se7en is the Benedict Cumberbatch of films. You have to like it to be cool, otherwise BOOM! Us proper film-lovers can victimise you all we like, because we're sheep and all like the same stuff!
God I hate that film

It is The Beatles of cinema, no-one can say a bad word against it, yet compared to many others in its genre, it's actually very poor.Hero wrote:And I agree with Azzy, se7en is possibly the most overrated film in existence.

Woah, let's not bring the Beatles into this, their status at the top is due to things far more important than the actual quality of their music

Re: The Movie Cup final Round - numbers
Which I loathe with a passion, music is about MUSIC, ie the sound. Based on that they'd not crack my top 500 bands.
But back to movies, God that Se7en film is rubbish

Re: The Movie Cup final Round - numbers
This is, for me, the best list in the movie cup so far. Went for One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest & 12 Angry Men as both are in another class - would put both in my top ten list of all time. 12 Angry Men is almost the perfect film - virtually the entire hour and a half takes place in a small room with a jury debating a man's guilt yet at no stage does it lag or the realism waver. The only minor flaw is a slightly oversentimental scene near the end that felt a bit forced.
Best of the rest was Se7en, clearly not everyone's cup of tea & I generally can't stand the impossibly-sophisticated-genius-villian type of film but would rank it up with Silence of the Lambs & Usual Suspects.

Some good movies.
Tough decsion this one. In the end went for 28 days later and one flew over the cuckoos nest..
"Never touched the stuff in my life, I thank you Wink"
Time you did it may open you up to the magic of the beatles- not in your top 500. tuttut

Az bud can you give us a few that beat the beatles!
I am not asking for 500, just your top 10 or so!

I might be wumming about Bananarama, but I seriously hate The Beatles. Most over-rated band in history, marginally ahead of U2. Terrible music, terrible hair.
And I hate that Bananarama covered that song, even if they did rescue it from the musical scrapheap

No not Prudence or Wild Honey Pie (wife wouldn't let me!). She's called Martha after Martha My Dear.
