Really enjoyed last nights episode guys, slightly surprised by Adams prediction for this weekend but maybe he knows something me and Owen don't.

Thoroughly enjoyed being part of it chaps. Thanks for the opportunity... and yep Paul it seems he does.
Seems to be doing the rounds on Twitter with 24 RT so far. I have sent it to fair number of boxers who have kindly retweeted it to there followers also so fingers crossed we could perhaps get a new record for listeners.
Also Adam & Paul I have emailed Jamie Moore to see if he would be up for a guest spot at some point. Had a few discussions with him in the past so hopefully he remembers who I am and gets back to us.
I shall continue plugging along in attempt at getting Haye on board to...though I feel we would have to plug his DVD and Magazine for him to even entertain the thought!

I thought that Murray was more lively than Rees until the last few questions.
So who is betting on Rees for KO in round 7?

Excellent, although if it happens I fear it will be overshadowed by news that STRONGBACK has spontaneously combusted after hearing that "the cowardly classless fraud" has been given airtimeowen10ozzy wrote:Thoroughly enjoyed being part of it chaps. Ha, Can you imagine his reaction to the news....I think if we get him on we should at least give Haye his name so he can hunt him down...
33 tweets from the website itself and
Scotty Cardle, Michael Jennings, Nicky Cooke, Ian Darke, Jamie Moore, John Murray, Joe Gallacher, Hatton Boxing, Matt Macklin, Paul McCloskey, Ryan Rhodes, Kal Yafai, Les Sherrington, Gavin Rees, Al Bernstein
All RT it for me on Twitter! Should hopefully get some good numbers for listeners.
Adam/Hampo ... I was thinking could be good to try and get Darren Barker (now signed to fight Geale) or Matt Macklin on in the next few weeks. Good to chance for them to plug their respective fights and also respond to Martin Murray....Just an idea anyway.

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
Anyone else listen to this? Usually strongback gives some feedback!
Do people prefer the new format with a general discussion before the guest?
Also, I personally felt it worked well with 3 people. Thoughts?

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
I would like to add this isn't fishing for compliments! We took previous comments on board and have hopefully tweaked a few things for the better
Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
I agree 3 people worked well
In all seriousness though I did think the general discussion to begin with was good, although that is obviously dependent on when guests are able to come on in terms of times etc.
What is your thoughts with regards to turning it into a weekly show Adam?
I know that everyone will have a busy schedule but I do think that if we get some consistency and regularity with the podcast then it will result in higher listener figures etc.

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
I can always edit the podcast to keep the general discussion at the beginning so guest times isn't a major issue.

Ah of course modern age technology, don't know why I didn't think that....blame it on the Friday feeling and still being stuck at work!
Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
By the way...being followed by Ricky Burns! Not bad for 1st day of plugging the new twitter, well done Paul.
Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
Yeah noticed that earlier, Ed Robinson and Ricky Burns is a good start.

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
I listened yesterday, both came across really well, but Murray in particular seems a really nice fellow.
As an aside, the amateurs European Championships kick of on the 1st of June, running to the8th. If you have time I would be more than happy to come on to give an update on them.

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
Good effort lads, you're doing well to keep the names coming through the door... Well, picking up the phones. Congrats on your debut Owen.
My only comment is on the length of them. I'm not a podcast officianado... In fact I never do them, but my understanding is that there are no hard and fast rules. They can be seconds or can be hours, depending on subject matter and target audience. I've listened to a few of the v2 ones, but there's been others when I 've opened them with a spare 10 mins and been put off.
Maybe you need a highlight show for lightweights like myself! Seriously though, as a rule, the longer they are the fewer people will invest the time to listen to them. When you're using them as a marketing tool to attract people to the site, and , at the same time, to give the site gravitas, its a consideration to bear in mind.
I for example would have the discussions as a separate podcast to the interviews. Possibly as your regular show. i might also, for this one, have had each interview as a separate podcast. Bite sized chunks for time poor (lazy) consumers. It also gives you the appearance of more material, and easier clearer titling.
Like I said, not my area of expertise, could be that the target audience like them to be a lengthy listen for their daily commute etc. But for me, the content and quality is great, but they seem a touch long for something being used as a marketing tool.

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
Thanks for the feedback Milky,
You bring up some very good points with regards to the time length, it was funny because when I was doing it I didn't realise how long it was. Couldn't quite believe when I listened back and it was 42 minutes...
I have mentioned the idea of a weekly podcast which I am still waiting on Adam to get back to me on as it is his pet project. I mentioned it as a method of providing continuity, it is something most podcasts end up doing in order to keep the listener/subscriber coming back.
If we moved to that method I think it would aid in covering some of the points you raised with regards to length of time...
A weekly podcast discussing hot topics/previews & reviews of fights etc could last say 20 minutes....with separate 'special' shows for Interviews.
As you mentioned the difficulty is getting the balance right between enticing people into listening i.e. the new audience but also keeping those who enjoy a lengthy debate and podcast for daily commutes etc. Fine balance to get right...fingers crossed we get there.

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
I know some weeks have been difficult to get guests so the general discussion part at leasts means we have a weekly edition for people to listen too.
Really didn't seem that long when we where recording it so I'm surprised it was 45 minutes.

the wrestling one regularly clocks in at over 60 mins (sometimes 90 minutes!)
Weekly podcast it is then!

Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
Could you all please rate the podcast on itunes and leave a small review - it will help get us noticed!
Re: *NEW* v2 Boxing podcast with Gavin Rees and Martin Murray
May be worth making that last sentence an article Adam. Obviously only those who listen to the podcast will go on this thread.
We could do with even those who don't just popping on and rating it, cheating a little I know but it will help us climb the popularity chart and get the podcast more noticed.
I've just been on and left a comment & rating.
Just a little note on the naming of the podcast, I think try and keep the names the same each time i.e.
For Interviews 'V2 Boxing Podcast with ......'
For the shows not featuring Interviews 'V2 Boxing Podcast Hot Topics/Weekly Debate/ What's Going On' ....
This would help keep it looking clean and sleek when reading the titles. Only a minor point but with something like itunes the more consistent and sleeker things look usually the better.

Aye Dave realised that owen love should be confined to the liverpool thread in the football section.
You came across quite well I thought Owen, though I thought you messed it up at the end where you said the "sun will continue to shine for the rest of the weekend" followed by "avoid the m1 on monday"
