Dream fight
Duran vs Chavez at lightweight. Who wins?
Two of my favourite boxers and I'm glad they were never around at the same time. I'd hate to see either of them lose. Chavez was at his awesome best at LW and Duran? Well what can anyone say about his reign of terror at LW.
I'd lean towards Duran in an absolutely barnstormer of a fight with neither fighter backing of. This fight could have been in a phone booth. I cant see a KO as they both had granite chins.
Thoughts?

Re: Dream fight
Would have picked Duran/Chavez as well
Can see Chavez starting the quicker of the two and dropping Duran early having a points lead going into the 5th before Duran ups his game and boxes his way to a unanimous decision over 12 or 15 rounds

This would have been an excellent matchup. Would have picked Duran to edge a serious over Chavez. Could see this being a war from start to finish with Duran slightly edging i with his excellent body punches giving him the edge in the later rounds winning him the fight.

Re: Dream fight
I think Duran wins this one on the cards, after an absolutely brutal affair with all living organisms (the two fighters excluded) within a sqaure mile being wiped out by the sheer savagery of the battle. I'd expect Duran to take control from the mid rounds onwards - the key is that, while Chavez can hold his own with anyone in history at 135 lb in a slug fest, I don't think he can beat Duran if 'Hands of Stone' mixes boxing with brawling as he did so effectively in the seventies pomp. Duran is one of the few who can match Chavez's short hooks to the body and, crucially, is just as strong in the dark arts and pushing an opponent back, and all in all I just think he does everything that Chavez did, but that little bit better.
