Quick question - what belts does Froch hold?
A bit confused to be honest (not a surprise when belts are involved!)
From wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Carl_Froch
Win 31–2 Mikkel Kessler UD 12 2013-05-25 O2 Arena, London, United Kingdom Retained IBF super-middleweight title.
Won WBA super-middleweight title.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Super_middleweight
WBA (Super) May 25, 2013 Carl Froch[2] 31-2 (22 KO) 0
WBC Vacant
IBF May 26, 2012 Carl Froch 31-2 (22 KO) 2
WBO March 23, 2013 Robert Stieglitz 44-3 (25 KO) 0
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andre_Ward
Win 26–0 Chad Dawson TKO 10 (12), 0:15 2012-09-08 Oracle Arena, Oakland, California Retained WBA (Super), WBC & The Ring super middleweight titles.
From the bbc:

So who holds the WBA title? And if its Froch, what does Ward hold?

Ward, the WBA title-holder, was ringside at the O2 but Froch and Kessler, 34, could go again, given the barbaric and dramatic nature of their two fights so far and the fact they are so evenly matched.
So who holds the WBA title? And if its Froch, what does Ward hold?
Re: Quick question - what belts does Froch hold?
Froch holds the "I am a Warrior and shall only speaks favourably to/of other Warriors and all non-Warriors need not bother asking me anything lest my Warrior's refusal to answer them offends their non-Warrior sensibilities." belt.
Wonder if Warrior Clothing and Carl Froch have had a meeting yet as I see a lucrative clothing deal in the pipeline

Froch is IBF. The WBA belt that Kessler won off Magee is the WBA belt that was made redundant when WBA decided to make a 'Super' belt (Ward).

WBA playing silly beggars again, when they have a unified champion, they make the person "super" champion of their organisation and free up the regular belt. Case in point - Wladmir Klitschko is WBA "super" while Povetkin is regular. Not sure what happens when Wlad beats Povetkin - if they follow the same formula its pretty obvious they're just making belts for sanctioning fees.

Povetkin will probably be able to keep his belt after he loses, because he brings in the dough. Or they'll set him up with some interim title of some sort.

Pretty certain that when the Kessler fight was made there was an agreement that the winner immediately vacate the IBF belt as Froch was meant to defend against Stephenson...

Right...
So he was meant to vacate the IBF belt:

But apparently that changed because Stevenson is fighting Dawson...

Stevenson is now facing Dawson for the WBC at LHW though. Think they know Froch brings in more money.

The big names out there don't need belts but with fans starting to be more choosy about what fights they pay to watch is forcing promoters to make more competitive fights

Hate it when that happens!!
This is good though...
http://wbanews.com/artman/publish/campionshipSuperChampions/index.shtml
By my reckoning, now that Froch is allowed to keep the IBF and he's taken the 'regular' WBA off Kessler....
He gets to be the WBA Super champion...
Same as Ward...
And the 'regular' WBA belt will be vacant again.
Stupid belts.

Nah, they'll probably make Ward the Super Super WBA Super Middleweight Champion and create ANOTHER B****Y BELT!!

Quite right as well. These days it's about beating the biggest names and securing your legacy rather than what belts you hold. No one has a clue about the belts these days; there's far too many of them.

Re: Quick question - what belts does Froch hold?
As far as I was aware kessler was the regular WBA champ after beating mcgee.
Ward was the super champ of the WBA but he was stripped last week ( probably because he has not fought in what seems like a decade).
Therefore the fight winner became IBF and WBA super champ.
Therefore meaning that Ward is NOT a world champion and holds no belts at the weight due to his inactivity.
Basically Froch is a warrior and holds two of the four belts.

To be fair I could be wrong and it could be the WBC he was stripped of......not sure.
The belts are a joke.
