Not sure what point you are trying to push.

Regarding player access the regional coaches have almost daily contact with their squads.

I dont think anyone has said the O's should/could win a HC final but with a squad like LJ had available to him he massively under achieved.

I hope he is able to help the Dragons but have my doubts

Its down to the coaching.

The point me old mucker is this. To you Team Rog apologists, who only take an interest in rugby for 7 weeks a year, and then through a fog of booze, the natural conclusion reached is that the 6N is the paramount rugby tournament in the NH. Ergo the logical fallacy you've trotted out that because Team Wales are good enough to win a 6N, the same players are good enough to win at the knock out stages of Europe. Absurd.

Considering you know nothing about my background in sport, rugby in particular you make some extremely foolish observations.

If you think that players coached by good coaches who win Slams become failiours overnight and cant get out of a HC pool when being coached by a poor coach you need to readjust your thinking.
Just going by your complete lack of knowledge as demonstrated on this here website me old cocker. If you think winning a 6N title is an equivalent let alone more difficult task than 'succeeding' in Europe then you need to adjust your thinking. I'll leave it there as your inability to understand Welsh rugby finance is well documented.

Stone & Alty - cut it out now, this is a thread for discussion about the movement of players to and from the regions, and not a thread for continuing your personal bickering.  I have had to clear the thread up once before because of your bickering please don't make he have to do it again.

What has happened with the Scarlet's. I mean in 2011 we were getting 10,000 plus for rabo games and about 12,000 for the Heineken Cup games.
What has happened?
This season attendances have been awful, about 7,000 for Rabo games and 9 for Heineken Cup. When I went down to watch the Heineken Cup match at home v Clermont, I was expecting a good crowd, but it was dead. It was awful, Clermont are one of the biggest teams in Europe yet we struggle to a crowd over 10,000.
All i'm asking is: Why have the crowds gone down? and Where have people gone?

Are they still doing that BOGOF thing?  Because that does somewhat inflate the amount of season tickets 'sold'.

As for the Scarlets I am not too sure what has happened with our fans, on other forums they seem to be all doom and gloom about last season, ignoring it was our best finish in the league for many a year.

It's really frustrating though, we had great crowds in 2011, we need them back but I can't think of a solution really when there is no problem, the ticket prices didn't increase at all did they

Selling lots of season tickets is great for the crowd figures but not a great way to turn around the Ospreys £2M per season losses if they are giving half of them away.

I agree on the point about the Scarlet's their attendance have been rubbish. I think they were giving away a lot of tickets the season before last but I understand that they are not any more. So I suppose if they are all paying supporters the income may not be affected too much.

The Scarlets biggest problem is loosing their star players, you cant expect struggling families to part with their hard earned cash to watch journeymen. In the past two years the Scarlets have lost.

Or even Jedward.

I guess no matter how good Earle or Snyman are they don't have real crowd drawing skills.

HUH yea I guess, I guess you are right seagultaf, But even though tickets were being given away, they still would have made money from the village and food/drink stands, it also looks better for us to have bigger crowds and with bigger crowds I think we will perform a bit better. But again we need to make money from selling tickets so it is quite a hard predicament that we are in.
I honestly think that next season Cardiff is going to get the biggest crowds out of all the regions, I mean when they got 10,000 people their for the end game of the Rabo vs Zebra I was shocked. They had been getting descent crowds towards the end of the season anyway. I also feel that next year they will be a bit more competitive and with this new artificial pitch, hopefully the quality of rugby they play will increase (drawing in even more bigger crowds). Goo luck to them I guess.
Ospreys had good crowds all season really and will again next season, so again they will be fine with crowd attendances.
It's just us surprise surprise, I just can't predict what our crowds will be. I mean I was very confident going into the 2012 season with our crowd attendances because they were really good the pervious year, but they have been awful this season.
Get of your buts scarlet fans and go watch them, I will be. I live in Pontypool but will still make it to a few games. People who live in Llanelli don't have to go that far mind do you?

True true, but they are great players and people should respect a players game and not just the popularity of their name sometimes. I mean look at North when he plays for Wales (and now the Lions), he plays and is playing brilliantly. But when it comes to the Scarlet's he was quite and just clumsy. He was also never their half the time.
Then you have small names like Earle and Snyman playing out of their skins week in week out who were playing great rugby and actually giving something to our team. Annoys me actually.
Snyman for Captain next season, it can't be Rob. Not a leader, not an 8, not an international either.

I think Snyman would be a good choice, but I would not rule out Ken or Foxy as club captain, with Snyman and Maule being vice-captains.  That way the main captain is a big name player for the press to swoon over or slate off, but we have an experienced grafter to lead the team during the internationals.

http://www.thisissouthwales.co.uk/centre-worker-Jamie-Murphy-lands-Ospreys-contract/story-19282399-detail/story.html#axzz2WBS1YFvo

JAMIE Murphy is swapping cold calling for a crack at top-level rugby after being handed his first regional contract by the Ospreys.
Instead of spending his days on the phone at the Bridgend call centre where he has been working, the 23-year-old will throw himself into the harsh realities of pre-season training at the region's training base in Llandarcy.

The Pencoed RFC product has played for Bridgend and Aberavon in the Welsh Premiership. His route to the Liberty also saw him take in a short stint in rugby league, plus his call-centre work. "I only gave up work a few weeks ago," he said.
"This beats working 9-5, and I realise how privileged I am to be in this position.

We've been fitnessWelsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours 2013 (Scarlets link with Blues winger Albert Nikoro) - Page 4 Icon1 testing over the first few days and the conditioning coaches have given me a tailored programme to help me get to where I need to be with their guidance.
"I'm over the moon to be here. I just want to dig in and get a good pre-season under my belt. I was fortunate enough to be on the radar last season and play in the LV= Cup but I never imagined I'd get a deal after just two gamesWelsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours 2013 (Scarlets link with Blues winger Albert Nikoro) - Page 4 Icon1. Hopefully, I'll get a chance to show what I can do."
Murphy featured for both Bridgend and Aberavon before switching codes to play for the South Wales Scorpions. He was good enough to be offered terms with the Crusaders, only for their spell in the Super League to hit the buffers.
Back at Bridgend, he went on to be named as players' and supporters'Welsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours 2013 (Scarlets link with Blues winger Albert Nikoro) - Page 4 Icon1 player of the year, also catching the eye for the Ospreys in their LV= Cup fixtures against the Dragons and Harlequins.
Andy Lloyd, theOspreys' rugby operations manager, said: "Jamie has probably got a more colourful story about how he has arrived here, but there is no doubt he deserves this opportunity.
"He's an all-round, talented footballer.
"This hopefully sends out a signal to other playersWelsh Regions Signings/Departures/Rumours 2013 (Scarlets link with Blues winger Albert Nikoro) - Page 4 Icon1 in the Premiership that if you perform consistently at that level then you will be rewards

Damn you, I was thinking maybe that comedy on BBC3 was real after all for a second.

Murphy looked pretty good when I saw him in the LV= last season.  I guess he bolsters their back three options, and may avoid the need to play any more scrum halves on the wing (unless they plan to convert them).

I think this is good news for the Ospreys. Jamie Murphy is Bridgend RFC's player of the 2012/2013 season*; I believe he deserves to be promoted to the Ospreys senior squad.

I think he'll compete for the Ospreys full-back* and fly-half* berths; he has been playing in both positions for Bridgend RFC.

Not bothered about Keiran murphy going, good luck to him and a good move for him.
But I am quite annoyed about Hill, he is a very good prospect and I was hoping he could get more game time next season with the Blues; I thought he could have taken over for James Down who is a waist of space on the pitch.
Should have kept Hill Cardiff!!!!!!!!!!!!

surprised the dragons didn't have a look at him. with them releasing josh tyler and the likes of adam jones/sidoli coming to the twilight of their career. corry hill would have possibly been a good fit for them. unless they have a few youngsters coming through at lock.....guess also groves covers the position.

I think Cory Hill leaving the Blues is a blow for Pontypridd RFC, the Blues and Welsh rugby. However, I believe the Blues are well covered at lock for the 2013/2014 season, with the likes of Macaulay Cook, Bradley Davies, Luke Hamilton, Lou Reed and James Down all able to play there. I hope he'll return to Wales to finish his career after a season or two at Moseley RFC.

I still think he can end his career in Wales, starting at 23, albeit a long ending, maybe a decade or more. I think it's sad to see a player retiring due to injury, so I obviously hope that doesn't happen to him, I wish him a long rugby career, albeit in Wales.

(Maybe end & finish aren't the best words to convey the idea I'm trying to put across, if anyone of you could suggest a better word, I would like you to let me know that word).

here is the link confirming murphy's move to brive......being scottish qualified i'm surprised glasgow didn't come in for him. he's a player with an excellent all round game, just a bit too small to get over the gainline on a regular basis.

I also hope Keiron Murphy comes back to Wales after a season or two at Brive. I hope he's loyal to the Welsh National Side and not the Scottish National Side, and would chose to play rugby for Wales, not Scotland, even if the Scottish National Side want him to play for them. I don't want another Steven Shingler fiasco*.

I feel angry that WQ players are still leaving Wales.

I also feel angry about Gavin Henson going to Bath*, instead of coming back to Wales, as speculated*.

Murphy isn't tied to Wales so I guess he is free to be what he chooses although I am not sure he is really international quality, especially being older than Baker, Allen and Co.

That said he is a good regional player and never let the Scarlets down, but I understand why he has been allowed to go. Money is tight and IF we get a decent eight, we can rely on Gog and Bennett to fill in when needed, whilst not breaking the bank holding onto players to provide depth.

I think I remember him being signed by bath, just awaiting dits in i's etc, way back when Welsh got their points reduction. I think some press folk forgot that when they decided to link him to the Dragons.

Matthew Dwyer is now on a full time contract for the Ospreys. Always thought he has been a good player, has done a good job every time I have seen him. Another good and cheap signing for the ospreys. They have built a good team ready for next season.

I'm happy that the Ospreys are looking at local talent within their region. I believe Matthew Dwyer will be an asset for the Ospreys next season and compete with the likes of Richard Hibbard, Scott Baldwin and Dmitri Arhip for the hooker berth at the Ospreys next season. I agree that the Ospreys have a good, competitive squad for the 2013/2014 season, as do the other Welsh regions.

I hadn't heard that! Bit disappointing :/

Also, why won't it let me click out of this quote box!

I mentioned he was offski 2 weeks-ish ago on page 20 of this thread, part 1. The rumour from Ponty.net then was that he was going to Cornish Pirates. Interesting that Moseley have now signed him who finished 10th in the championship (played 22 won 6). I suppose that means the bigger clubs didn't rate him. Clearly we didn't.

I think you're right Cardiff Dave. I believe we'll keep seeing International197 stating the bleeding obvious ad infinatum until Wales rids itself of these useless, freeloading foreigners who I think are all rubbish compared to our academy under 15s anyway.

Without some of the these what you say freeloading foreigners here and coming in, we would be in an even worse state than we already are. Look At Earle and Snyman at the Scarlet's, they have been some of the best signings we have made in yonkers. Also Filo Paulo will be a great asset to the Blues next season. a few I will agree with you, yes are useless. But to say that they are all rubbish is wrong.

Don't know. Maybe Cardiff Blues didn't rate him and with him on his way to Moseley it would appear that many other clubs didn't either.
As for MC, not sure what's happening with him.

Glad you're happy 197, but the thing is that our 4 regions can recruit whoever they like from wherever they like. The regional boundaries means jack with regards to recruitment.
What intrigues me though is what the clubs involved in the WP think with regards to where regional contracted players are placed. For instance Cardiff Blues stated recently that 9 Cardiff contracted players would be given to Ponty next season. I would be interested to know how this compares with the other WP teams.
