England v Ireland and Brazil v England
First topic message reminder :
The regular season might be over, but Roy Hodgson's England have two friendlies to negotiate before they can put their feet up for the summer. Tonight, England host Ireland in the first game between the sides since the abandonment of 1995 sparked by crowd trouble. Then on Sunday, England make the long trip to Brazil to sample the conditions and atmosphere ahead of next summer's carnival.
Player-wise, Steven Gerrard (shoulder), Andy Carroll (heel), Jack Wilshere (ankle), Tom Cleverley (calf) and Kyle Walker all miss out for England tonight. Ashley Cole, England's only consistent world-class player over the last decade, will captain his country against Ireland. Predictions:
England 2-0 Ireland
Brazil 1-3 England

That's the flavour of South American football. If you like hi-tech wait for the Qatar World Cup.Ent wrote:Pitch looks a bit ropey too, balls bouncing a bit strangely.

Glen Johnson only 5 yards behind the defence there. Useless defender

Sometimes you watch Walcott and you think he can be a world beater.
Then sometimes like tonight he looks like bambi on ice out there. Couldn't control a medicine ball

Can't keep the ball is the biggest problem. Carrick has given it away so many times needlessly. Still, England have seen off the torrent of Brazil's attacks, and have made one or two of their own. Fingers crossed!

You ran away after Froch started winning, nice to see you back. I guess you like Brazil's colours as well?
Loved the Lions game yesterday, very professional display.

Re: England v Ireland and Brazil v England
Without his pace walcott would be in league two, sorry but true. This performance has been embarrassing, make your excuses but this is terrible. Brazil ain't much either. Rooney so isolated, such negative tactics......once again Roy looking for a clean sheet. You don't win anything by achieving draws. Horrible game. Lucas moura, Ramires and damiao are needed for brazil. Hart top notch

I don't think Roy can be blamed for the England players failing to control and pass the ball simply to each other.
When we did, we fashioned some good openings

Roy/The FA needs to be blamed.. I have had enough of these negative tactics ..
Time to say goodbye to not letting in many goals and say hello to real football without pressure on results..

Roy`s hoping for a clean sheet and then penalties, that's his plan using these negative, depressing tactics in every match.

Roys doing the best with what hes given, which frankly isn't much. Long term view required to rebuild the England team, not a short term view.

What do people honestly expect?
Us to go to Brazil and play them off the park whilst missing numerous first team players and attacking options?

Walcott is pretty useless isn't he, the last 3 attacks he has cleared the ball for brazil.

I eagerly await GSC's ratings. Will Carrick get another 10?

Re: England v Ireland and Brazil v England
Walcott through and then turns backwards, negativity rubbing off onto the players from Roy. Walcott the showcases his dire first touch and inability to pass five yards. Embarrassing. Dreadful game, painful to watch.

Not watching. Playing F1 is much better than watching England in recent years.

I feel some need to cast their minds back to when an England midfield ran by Wilshere played Brazil off the Wembley park.
