Lewis and Keedy miss out as expertly predicted!
Derbys win toss and bat. Don't mind that - conditions should suit our seamers. Viscount has a good record at Derbys.

1-1. The one and only Chesney H falls to Tremlett in the first over.guildfordbat wrote:Lewis and Keedy miss out as expertly predicted!

Yikes - Derbys getting a move on! 93-2 off 23. Viscount, Meaker and Batty all going at more than 4.5 an over. Only Tremlett containing things. Need another wicket ....

Shouldn't think so!!! Not til Adams goes and takes De Bruyn and the other has-beens with him.

Appears my confidence about things going belly up was justified. Feeling distinctly unchuffed now.guildfordbat wrote:1-1. The one and only Chesney H falls to Tremlett in the first over.guildfordbat wrote:Lewis and Keedy miss out as expertly predicted!

Re: surrey vs derbyshire county championship
This match feels like QPR vs Reading. We've been comprehensively outplayed so far in the basement battle and any prospect of victory is small. Have to hope we scrape a draw and that Somerset lose Which is hardly a positive frame of mind.

Another bag of the proverbial from Surrey in ideal bowling conditions...............again! Let's hope that Derby enjoy this garbage served up by Meaker et al so much that they forget to declare!

Another poor day. At least we only lost one wicket in the evening session. Not sure what else there is to be said.

I was going to ask how on earth did Burns get run out - thanks, JimBob.
More than 400 behind going into the third day, only one team have a realistic prospect of winning from here and it ain't us.

Re: surrey vs derbyshire county championship
I think my second glass of wine has tipped me over the edge I was just in the middle of writing that my second glass of red wine this evening has made me feel optimistic that Surrey will get away with a crushing draw! and suddenly my post disappeared! anyway, notwithstanding that, I remain ever optomistic that we'll end this match ahead of Derbshire in the Div 1 table... whether we end up accompanying them on a downward journey at the end of the reason remains a moot point

Solanki gets out off what turns out to be last ball before lunch...
Meanwhile Harinath is 74* but off only 151 balls. Could be in for attritional afternoon.

Re: surrey vs derbyshire county championship
Just caught up with this morning's score. What was Solanki playing at? Dreadful scoring rate. Ok, realistically we can't win and don't want to gift a victory to Derbys but we still need the batting bonus points.

Re: surrey vs derbyshire county championship
Wonder whether Solanki was aware of criticism that he was getting out repeatedly after having played himself in for a breezy 20s, and 30s. So he decided to do the same but take much longer about it.
Or maybe it was special request from the Brain to help make his own scoring rate look better?

It's certainly something to be outscored by Harinath at almost twice the rate!

Hi Jimbob - "all" may be an over-estimate!
Sedate progress since lunch, but Punter is looking good and the Baron is his usual steady self.

hi corporal and guildford
why the baron never moved to opener as soon as smith left is a mystery
wilson then could have played at 3 again where he had done well

Re: surrey vs derbyshire county championship
Succession of Derby fielders had to go off the field, feeling unwell. Now the same has happened to Umpire Cowley.
They put out a call for a qualified umpire. Salisbury meanwhile standing at square leg (in shorts). Batsmen done well to keep their concentration.
