THE OMPL CHAMPIONS CUP

Welcome to the OMPL Champions Cup

This cup will take place over a set number of weeks (which will be dependant on number of entrants). At the end we will crown the OMPL Champions Cup winner.

The winner of the cup will carry over 5 'BONUS POINTS'  into Season 5 of the OMPL when it begins. Given the close nature of the majority of the seasons so far I am sure you will agree this is a great prize and may very well prove to be invaluable come the end of next season.
The format of the cup is as follows:

Stage 1: The first 3 weeks will consist of Group Stages which will be drawn in the coming days. Entrants will be seeded based on there finishing position in Season 4 of the OMPL. You will then play each person in the group once with 3 points awarded to for a win & 1 for a draw.

Stage 2: After 3 weeks the tournament will change into a knockout format containing the Winner of each group and the 2 best runner up's from all the groups.

Below you will find the rules & the scoring system – Please note that when it comes to the scoring you cannot have one without the other. That is to say if you fail to predict the winner you will not score points for method etc. YOU HAVE TO PREDICT THE WINNER TO GET THE OTHER POINTS.

Guzman just came in heavy (for about the 4th time in his career). Weighed in too heavy for a WW in a fight supposed to be for an interim JWW 'title'. What a joke!

Ok draw for the Quarter Finals of both the Champions Cup and Euro Cup are now up. Apologies for the delay, hectic week at work!!

Any chance of a new opponent? Me and WHU have identical predictions and wildcards apart from Rees by UD or LKO. If Crolla wins I guess we have a stalemate.

I actually changed my mind from LKO to UD as well so would have been identical until I remembered Broner just flat laughing in Rees face at his punch power, hopefully Crolla can shake it off as well.

I have been so busy at work that I am unable to do a little play-off between WHU_Champo & bellchees. As a result we have a 3 way match in the semi final - unless Bellz84 is unhappy with that..in which case I will have to do something last minute and WHU & Bellchees you will need to watch this thread throughout the week.

Thanks for organising all this, been good fun. The upcoming week is a tough one though, haven't got a clue which way I'm gonna go for Price v Thompson, may even have to toss a coin. Price must have the power to hurt Thompson, but what happens if Thompson lands a punch???

Hi OMPL Cup Competitors,

Those of you still left in the competition. Just a quick update on what is happening! I have had somewhat of a hectic past few days and have barely had time to catch my breath never mind update this. However rest assured I will get it done by tomorrow evening.

With regards to the FINALS (bhb001 I got your message) they will be taking place on the weekend of the 27th July.

This was mostly due to the fact I am going on holiday on Sunday so won't get a chance to do results and didn't want people waiting around again, but then I checked the weekends fights for the next 2 weeks and the 27th is by far the best in terms of number of fights and top class action.

I am sure you will all agree that we want the final to be a bit of a biggie, with plenty of fights and fighters who you know to predict with.

I will do my best to get the semi-final scores done tonight but failing that I will definitely get a chance tomorrow.

Apologies for the wait I know it's frustrating!

I reckon bellchees has just taken it. I got Dirrel spot on as my wild card, but got a three others wrong which knocks out that lead. I'll wait for confirmation from Ozzy, but well done bellchees, champ.

Final Results are up!! That brings to an end the 2nd Year of the OMPL Cup Competitions. Thank to all those who took part, hope you enjoyed it and will come back for the new league season.

Congratulations to our 2 Champions! It was a great end to the Cup with two keenly contested finals...just one point separating competitors in both matches. In the end though it was bhb001and Compelling & Rich who took the spoils.
