Still a great season for Liverpool. More than exceeded their expectations.
The City game yesterday proved though how moronic it was of them to try to claw back the goal difference against Palace.

Never say never but to say the title looks unlikely is an understatement.
Still, as you Liverpool fans seem to be saying it is a great season for your club and, don't forget, a changing Man United squad came agonisingly (for them - sure your guys had a chuckle) close in 91/92 and we all know how the next 20 years panned out for them.
Doors don't open if you don't keep knocking on them.

Crazier things have happened.
Don't think it will happen, but can you imagine City losing but Liverpool not managing to beat Newcastle? Would be awful.

The hope is Andy Carroll can repay my faith in him by taking down City.

Want him in before the World Cup. I cant see them being the only ones. Good time to pounce though. United aren't on steady ground just yet so theyve got a Scouse foot in the door first.
I presume Liverpool will bid £40m to keep in line with their "double the price for English" guidelines

That really is a pretty poor way to look at it. LFC went from what 7th to 2nd that is a massive improvement. Not only are you in the champions league now there is the added benefit that you now won't lose Suarez because of the way the team played this season. And it will be easier to attract other top stars in Europe because they see that Liverpool is now competitive for the biggest trophies again.

I've heard Kevin Nolan has said he would sacrifice getting a red card if it meant Liverpool winning the league.
I'm sure it would help us more if he was on the pitch instead.

Would be very happy with the signing of lallana especially if we can do it before the world cup. I have a feeling that he will be more expensive after a good world cup. Then hopefully we can concentrate on improving our defence which must be the priority this summer.

Whatever happens, he's going to expensive, that's the way domestic signings are for English talent. You will get ripped off whenever you do the deal. I wouldn't pay more than £20m for the lad, seeing as he's 25/26, but I can see it spiraling towards £25-£30m.

Apparently a bid of £20 million has already gone in, he does look like he would fit into the side perfectly because of his style of play and versatility.

Indeed an attacking line up of suarez, sturridge, sterling, coutinho and lallana is a very attractive proposition.....as long as we strengthen considerably our defence.

Re: Liverpool Thread: Road to thinking we might get top 4, only to feel stupid at the end of the season
I am not sure throwing money at the defence is the solution, for me it isn't a problem of poor players but poor organisation and mistakes. The defence of Enrique, Agger, Skrtel and Johnson was one of the best just a couple of years ago. I think people have to remember that the defence hasn't been a solid back four for most of the year with Enrique injured for most of the season, Johnson in and out, Agger in and out and Skrtel unfavoured at the beginning.
I don't want money to be thrown at the defence because as seen with Sakho, when Rodgers has spent big money on a player, he seems unwilling to not play them when they are fit. I think it was painfully clear after a few games that Sakho wasn't up to standard and should have been dropped for Agger but I think his price tag stopped that.
Also I think sometimes it has to be accepted that if Liverpool are going to play the way they do, defence is going to have to be sacrificed and risks taken. I don't think it's a surprise that Liverpool concede many goals when no other team pours players forward like Liverpool do, and I think that would have to be sacrificed somewhat if the defensive record is the main focus.

Papers linking today with Caulker (which I think would make a lot of sense at a decent price, English and his history with Rodgers) and also yourselves and United with Alex Song for a measly £8m. I liked Song at Arsenal and for that price hes gold.

I still cant believe Spurs let Caulker go in the first place.

Is it just me or did none of you see Caulker this year? Serious disappointed in his performances this year, thought he'd develop into a quality defender. This guy rivals Per Mertesacker for a turning circle.
That led to this being said by Lineker about England's defensive options, ‘We have got Cahill and Jagielka and then Caulker, who struggles a bit on the turn. We are short in that department & that's why I think we should pick Stones'.
I don't rate Caulker or Ashley Williams & those are the names being thrown about everywhere with moves to top clubs. Not sure about them at all.

Liverpool should sign Vertongan.
Williams is class, but i feel he has been found out a little this season. Still worth a go though IMO.

Caulker is 22. And English. That means getting him at a cut price now means even if he isn't a hit for them they won't lose much money on him. He's been ok in a mess of a club. He won't win them the league, but its a solid kind of transfer. Next to Skrtel I think he'd improve further too.
Think he'd be better off at a place like Southampton, Newcastle or maybe Villa.

Pretty much sums uphow I feel about the defense. However, if we're going to sign a defender, I'd like it to be Vertongen

Another horrid kit from Warrior. I've been very disappointed with our kits since they started making them.

Another pretty average kit I'm afraid...however, the lads can be dressed in flowery dresses for all I care as long as they're putting the ball into the opposition goal and not conceding any.
