Old fudge recipes
My sister is looking for an old Fudge recipe. It has to be South African. When she tasted it was crunchy, and it was creamy. She swears there are biscuits in the recipe, but hasnt found a recipe which has biscuits. This is apparently an urgent matter. It has to be the type of recipe found at a old age bake sale.
It is simple caramel fudge. Not mixed with chocolate or peanut butter, as is evident in other recipes. Thank you in advance. This may be urgent.
Cheers

Re: Old fudge recipes
I've made fudge a few times kingraf and never put biscuits in it. I wonder if what she's after is like what's known in Scotland as Tablet. Tablet is like fudge but with a crunchy consistency. Let me have a look for some recipes, back shortly

What's your best fudge recipe lsg? And any tips to make it work? I've only tried once, but it didn't solidify properly. Still tasted good though.

It's a challenge Julius, I certainly haven't perfected the art but I have improved. Correct temperature is vital. I just found this, very helpful article.

I'll have a look and see if I can find a recipe I've used online. If not I'll just type it out here.

Finally!! Try this one Julius. And read through the comments at the bottom, a few people had issues with it but the majority are fine. There's some good tips in there too, I made this one once and it was reasonably successful. Perseverance is the key I think, making confectionery isn't easy!

Re: Old fudge recipes
Thanks a lot, my sister sucks at cooking and nearly burnt down my kitchen, but I appreciate the replies.
