McCoist and his war chest Empty McCoist and his war chest

Post by SugarRayRussell (PBK) Sun 08 May 2011, 9:02 pm

Now that the take over is complete Ally McCoist is in a better position than the last 3 incoming Rangers managers. He has a squad of good experience who should have just won 3 in a row. Granted his squad is thin but he has a couple of good young talents in their as well. McCoist has already stated he isn't Walter Smith mark 2 his team will be more attack minded. What does McCoist need to bring in for next season?

A Centre Back, has to be a priority,

and if Papac leaves a left back

and a third striker cant believe i am going to say this, but Lafferty does not look awful when partnering Jelavic but we cant rely on them both for a full season.

We also need someone with a bit of creativity as once again in tight games there is to much reliance on Davis. (will accept Kaka for that role lol)

Just my opinion on this but obviously depends on who goes and who stays

Papac should be one of his top priorities he's what you want in a ful back. Steady going forward and solid at the back to many modern day full backs can't defend. I don't see Boyd coming back think he might go for a Miller type with pace to play alongside Jelavic. He could clear out players like Laffery and Edu to free up some more wages.

I agree with pretty boy, Edu needs to clean up because he's totally under par. As for who he's gonna buy, a bit of new talent would be nice at the front and back, reckon he's gonna poach from hibs and aberdeen for the backs. Just pray to lord god almighty he won't put in an offer for Diouf, unlikely but pub talks saying he's interested.

Poaching Aberdeen for defenders? I have you seen our defensive record this season? Shocked

Conway and Goodwillie should be, and probably will be signed.

You can't have them, thier ours so keep your hands off.
I can see Conway signing for you in the summer but not so sure about Goodie. He has already said he is in no hurry to leave United and would like a move down to England. Plus every time he sets foot in Glasgow he ends up in the nick, he'd cost you two million and spend his contract sitting on the bench, in the local cells.

I'd far rather McCoist focused on scouring Europe for 2 or 3 quality centre backs, than mucking around with the likes of Goodwillie.

Lafferty and Jelavic worked as a pairing last season. I'd be happy to just hang onto them.
