Mark Henry to retire? Empty Mark Henry to retire?

Post by Crimey Mon 17 Jun - 17:47

Mark Henry wrote:#raw #wwe I have spoke to my family and hope to talk to all of you fans tomorrow live from Grand Rapids. Guys Father Time is undefeated.

Looks like Mark Henry will be retiring on Raw. I am gutted about this, he's been one of the best heels in wrestling over the past two years and it's a shame that it took him so long to find the character to really be a success.

This is like when Batista decided to leave just as he finally got good.

Has he even been that good lately? He's a fatty with a Head butt and a slam, then he shouts stuff that's bordering on gibberish?

Never understood the forum obsession with his run in the last couple of years.

He's been great, what he does is very simple I agree, but it always looks great and he's a very effective heel.

Henrys great because hes simple. Hes a heel that simply wants to hurt people, as opposed to every other heel in the WWE currently. It works.

Sorry for being ignorant but am I missing something here, where does he indicate he will be retiring?

I have to say if he does it will be sad, I think the hall of pain gimmick really worked for him and I thought he should have won EC instead of Swagger a few months ago.

it was a good heel character which suited him......he even had a heel theme for years. "beat him up, beat him up, break his neck, break his neck"

he hurt people and looked genuinely scary. yes it was simple but you knew what mark henry would do to people everytime he got into the ring.

Tbh I think Bull might have a point, after last night I was convinced Henry will come back and target Cena. They would have a filler match at MITB where Bryan will go over Orton and then be ready to face Cena at SummerSlam.

Ent he's been amazing, he's one of the only heels that's booked like he isn't a coward...I like that his only motivation is to hurt people and he's good at it. When he was attacking Sheamus and people asked him why and he just said "because I can"...I thought that was amazing haha

I heard a month or so ago they were planning on turning him face. But after seeing his recent return promos i thought he was remaining heel. Now these tweets about him retiring. Im so confused.

I wonder if it'll be an outright retirement or a Flair like storyline that might take him to SummerSlam

would WWE allow him to tweet this if it were true?

Surely it'll be a play, get a bit of sympathy from the crowd and then do something to garner mega heat

Henry hasnt been your weasel heel though, he doesnt play the crowd he just goes big or goes home. I hope he gets a long retirement process, MitB and then Summerslam or gets put out before MitB and looks like hes been retired meekly before returning near Summerslam and putting someone over there.

I was fully pulled in by the promo, it was really well delivered and the attack was done with perfection, you just couldn't see it coming.

Favourite moment apart from the twist was "Not Mae Young, you dummy."

I wish Mark Henry had been like this for longer, he's gold.

Brilliant. Masterstroke by WWE and shows they do pay attention to the rumour mill sometimes. Shame it'll be a filler feud but the moment was worth it. Not sure where he goes after this defeat though.

It was fantastic... Smile

I do wonder if they will actually go for it as they did with Henry's WHC title reign and give him the victory. There could be a false finish at MITB and then a Henry victory at SS before a 2 - 3 month reign and then Cena would be able to regain the title for the run in to WM...

I was in two minds...I kept saying to myself "something had to happen! something just has to happen!" and then as it went on I was starting to believe it, especially with his welling up and the "I'm not Mae Young dummy!" line...it felt real and then when he finally attacked I Marked for Henry...even if people saw it coming it still goes down as one of the best acting I've seen in WWE for a very very long time.

I have to say the whole show was pretty good...Raw really should be two hours though, I felt like that would have been the perfect end to the night.
