Had it in the bag, but threw it away. Well done to India, but England lost that more than they won it.
Jos Buttler's place must surely be gone now. Awful tournament with the bat

yeah they did today. I think they have terrible problems with their batting at the moment.
Bops and Mogs just gave it away really and once they did.. game over, pack of cards again.
so frustrating.

Re: Champions Trophy - England and Wales 2013
Slightly annoyed we didn't get a 50 over game in, but them's the breaks.
Well done India, 5 wins out of 5 for them in this tournament.
I have to say though, England threw that away. 20 needed from 16 at want I believe with 6 wickets left. You cannot lose a game from there at this level.
Positives for England from this tournament? Got very far with no KP, the team looks more settled, Tredders is class, and there's no better way to build a future winning mentality than a damaging and heartbreaking defeat.
Now that's the warm-up act of the summer out of the way - on to the Ashes!

Bolwers lost England the game...in seam friendly conditions.....five down...they allowed India's Nos 7 , 8 and 9 score about 11 runs consistenly in the last 5 overs.

Its alright to be disappointed. Always tough losing a tight game, never mind in a final. Congrats to India, they held their nerves

Dominant in this form yes. In tests, well not yet no.
Well trebel I suggest you to live in present. Hiding defeat will change the senario. And regarding test we accept England as one of the greatest side. Regarding India they will come up with good games in future and will show their supermacy in test also.

Holders of the ICC 50 over World Cup, holders of the ICC Champions Trophy and the ODI number 1 ranked side.
The triple crown, the only other side to do that? Ricky Ponting's all conquering Australians. Elite company.

And one more thank you must go to the ICC, who extended the playing time today to 20:30. Without that, there would have been no game.

India lagg behind in test and it is true. We lost the two test series against the World's best test team. The present is the ICC Champions Trophy. If we had a different result today no body would like to move to any previous test or one day series. This is a one day tournament and the talks of previous test series after the result here is ridicolous. India won and they dominated the tournament.

Particularly like the summary on Cricinfo:
"You can look back on many close moments in this game: Bresnan's dive on the boundary that was given four, Trott's drop catch off Kohli, the Bell stumping. So often, 20-over games come down to those slim moments. And what about those four overthrows early in India's innings?"
Very true that.

Atlast both team played a really good cricket. Playing 20 over game under the rules of 50 over is really difficult and both team showed the real spirit. A bit unfortunate for the England side. It was a close game and any body could have won. Good luck to Team England for the upcoming ashes and I hope they will win and erase this memory.
Congrats Indian team, Your victory really encouraged people back in India who have suffered from the nature's attack.

Yeah...add to that 10 times India had to go off never giving them the momentum.
it's not about the iffffs and butttts...nor the borderlines that you cannot control......but the concious decisions made.
and the one that should rankle England most........is leaving Finn out...for that "allrounder" Bresnan....by far the most expensive bowler today.
It's picking lesser bolwer for their perceived batting strnegth that has hurt England innumerable times

We were wondering that India will take on your fifth bowler but eventually he only turned the tables for India. Still as duty said there were moments where luck didn't favoured England and the most important was Bell's wicket.

Well played India.
Batsmen let down the bowlers yet again. Negative tactics with the bat again, over-reliance on the middle order again, too much left to do at the end again. England have been very lucky to get to the final, given their ineptitude at ODI cricket under Giles.
Wheelie bin out, and take Bell, Buttler & Bresnan with you.

Piers Morgan @piersmorgan
England are a good side without @KP24 - and a great side with him. In all forms of cricket. Simple as that.
Not often I agree with Mr Morgan, but I think he's spot on there.

5 reasons that my fellow Englishmen can be chirpy:
1) KP's hitting his way back into form.
2) The Ashes are around the corner.
3) The England U20 Rugby Team have become world champions today.
4) Wimbledon starts tomorrow.
5) The Lions won yesterday.

@Olly.....the batsmen are the ones known to be adversely affected by the on-off breaks......Eng didn't have to go off during their batting inning.
on a general note.......I find Eng have constantly amazed me with their team sleections for limited over games.
Butler and before that that tall stiff perceived big hitter failure of a WK who often opened the batting and whose name eludes me...
Limited over cricket requires simply picking your best players.....and who better a WK batsman then Matt Prior
