If you could change just one result- What would it be ??
First topic message reminder :
Mine would be..........Turning round Holmes robbery against Spinks in the 2nd fight and see how history changed..........
My guess is Holmes would stay in the HBO unification series (ego was too big!!)..........Would lose to Tyson in 87..........Douglas happens sooner ( after all Holmes and Spinks 88 and 89 fights need filling!!!) maybe in America and he probably quits like he did against Tucker as the logistics are different......Tyson - Holy happens in 90...........with for me Tyson winning.........
Whether Washington happens or not remains to be seen........
However just that result changes everything...........
Runner up - Curry - Honey...........

I would have liked to have seen Naz in with Morales, Hamed would have got schooled again because he was never in that league. Pacquiao would have torn him apart and Marquez would have picked him apart for fun.
This one of my Top 5 Youtube videos. I wish I could say I made it myself but I didn't.

Some of the comments on that video are very interesting. Makes me wonder whether people should be allowed freedom opinions when you see the things that some people come out with.

116-112 is a real lesson ??.............Yes Barrera won but it wasn't a complete hiding..
Funny how Barrera is also applauded for smashing Hamed's head into the ring buckle by many....
Sure they'd have been the first to moan had Hamed done it to Belcastro..
Hypocrisy is good and well it seems..

Re: If you could change just one result- What would it be ??
Good article, Truss.
I'd probably go for either one of Whitaker's fights against Chavez or Oscar, with Chavez naturally being my first choice.
Pea's record purely on paper and without context, while still superb, doesn't do him justice at all and the judges robbing him of what would have been THE ultimate defining win of his career against Julio is something I'd love to be able to reverse. That fight was the Mayweather-Pacquiao of its time and Whitaker's performance was outstanding and deserved better.
In fairness, the De la Hoya fight was a very close one and I can totally appreciate why almost as many people scored it to Oscar as they did to Pernell (or a draw, for that matter), but after the travesties of the Ramirez (I) and Chavez 'decisions' I think it's fair to say that Whitaker was more than due a little bit of luck in that respect. Given that Oscar was one hell of a fighter at this point, unbeaten and smack bang in the middle of his prime, and that Whitaker had been on a bit of a slide, that win would have been almost as meritorious as the one over Chavez by 1997.

Erislandy Lara vs Paul Williams.........Williams got clocked continuously with that overhand right and won about 2 rounds yet managed to win the fight.
Campillo vs Cloud as well deserves to be mentioned as well as Abrill vs Rios.....2 absolute scandelous robberies.

Re: If you could change just one result- What would it be ??
Foreman vs Briggs - Briggs ran away the entire night and george gave him a beating whenever he was in range. Just a sad way for him to retire. Pure robbery.

Rowley just wondering here mate, I understand you were a huge Naz fan, partly due to him being from Sheffield I guess, but I would have thought such a character and such an ego would have put you right off him?

Why such hatred man. Froch is no worse than a lot of people and is much better than most. He even voted for Joe on Strictly!! Let if go, man. There are so much worse issues in the world. It's not like he beats on his wife or anything.

To be honest Alex was he to appear now I suspect he would turn me off but Naz emerged when I first really got into boxing and it coincided with me leaving school and actually working so his were the first fights I could afford to attend live. As the old saying goes you never get over your first love.

I was there for a few Union, went against Billy Hardy, Jose Badillo and at least one other who I cannot remember the name of, Winky Wright was on the bill if that helps. Try looking in the cheap seats.

Prince v Molina at Manchester it was. Winky fought in the UK 3 times in a row. Unusual for an established sceptic. Also fought a lot in France. Anyone know the story?

I was at that one. Calzaghe v Eubank topped the bill. Great night. Although I certainly wasn't in the cheap seats, too many common people there.
Said Lawal in Glasgow was a particular highlight of my years following Naz.

Agree Trussman, would love to have seen Earnie have a championship. Such a great bloke in person and some of the matches he had is great. Im still amazed that Holmes got up after that shot in the 7th in the 79 fight. Would love to see him fighting today

Manny-Marquez I, I think Manny achieves superstardom anyway, but it would be interesting to see where JMM ends up. I dont think his career change. Still loses to Floyd, maybe in '06
