Argh no. Monaghan have now got a player sent off so it's 14 men each. Buggger...they could've just given this away with their poor discipline.

Christ I'd have done the same if I was Cavanagh.

Controversy as Cavanagh is only given a yellow for that. Bad decision.

No different from doing the same out the field. Don't agree with it but its a yellow for me

They'll have the black card next year for things like that...anyway, Monaghan have given this away themselves regardless.

Black card is bull in my eyes but. It won't work at club level. Tommy Freeman might give them a lift here

Aye, another point. If Monaghan DO get through (unlikely) they won't stand a chance against the more experienced teams. Their discipline is shocking.

They just seem to lose it when they show some great play - like there just now.

Ye the games broken up and everything's a bit frantic but they just need to get quality ball to Freeman and McManus.

Roney O'Neill has massive potential if he can avoid injuries.

Cavanagh wasn't even trying there. He knew they'd won it, and they just slowed it down.
Ah well. Fair play to Monaghan, they made it thus far and they won the Ulster final which is better than before.
FT 0-14 0-12

Monaghan can be proud of themselves after 25 years they won the Anglo Celt. Looking forward to the next game now. The joys of being a neutral.

Conor Counihan steps down as Cork Senior Football Manager. Did win an All-Ireland in 2010 but maybe he should have won more with such a very gifted bunch of players.

I'm not surprised at that Patrick. Well done to Tyrone yesterday by the way.
McCaffrey's goal was superb last night. Chuffed for the Dubs. Knew they'd nab it in the end.

"Gifted" is a bit strong. I think they did well to win the AI that they did win.............................

Being as everyone's on about it...here's Joe Brolly's rant. You'd never get this on Match of the Day!

Joel's buying into his own hype a bit. The worst deed of the weekend was Neil Magee and nothing was said about it. I'd have done the same if I was Cavanagh and no doubt I already have done.

Joe and RTE do this every year to get more ratings the semis and final will be up against the soccer on sky so they create a wee bit on controversy to get the viewers 2 years ago it was a rant with Tony Davis about Cork and last year it was a rant with Pat Spillane about Colm Cooper being a choker anyway we in Tyrone are loving this another wee thing to spur us on to another All-Ireland

I also found it funny that not one word was mentioned of Kerry's anti football tactics.

I saw that row between Joe and Pat just now on You Tube via a link. It was like listening to some fellas down the pub to be honest. Quite amusing though. I like the way Joe keeps going "Haul on...haul on..." when no one's got a word in edgeways anyway!

Re: Where are all the GAA posters gone ?
I'm only 11 years late to this thread but I went to my first ever GAA game the other weekend. Popped over to Kerry to see a mate for the weekend and he took me to a local GAA game.
I had very little idea what was going on but thoroughly enjoyed it. The level of sh*thousery from some players was spectacular. Particularly enjoyed one player who waited a good 30 seconds after a flash point had cooled down before running over and shoving someone to start it up again. Excellent work.
I'm now an expert on GAA so if anyone wants to restart the conversation on here, I'm your man.

Which club game did you see? As a spectacle gaelic football is fairly stale atm but at least we had a more novel final this year and I'm hoping we'll see rule changes in the next year or two that could have a positive effect. I'm a Down man quite envious of Armagh atm.
On the other hand the hurling championship was absolutely spellbinding this year. I watched Cork's spectacular dethroning of Limerick in the semi-final and told my English friends to watch the final as it was being broadcast live on BBC 2 throughout the UK. However in the back of my mind I thought the final would probably struggle to match that semi.
How wrong I was as Cork and Clare played out probably the greatest game I've ever seen, not just of hurling but perhaps any sport. The speed and skill of hurling at that level is just off the charts to everything else. As the game went down the wire into extra-time I started to feel more proudly Irish than ever as this was just the greatest exhibition of our native culture I could imagine. Was slightly disappointed for Cork as I felt they would have been deserved winners after knocking out Limerick but they should be back amongst it next year. Crazy that they've no title in 20 years now despite a huge population and intense passion for hurling.
For an amateur sport gaelic football has seen some world-class sh*thousery. My personal favourite was an epic semi-final between Kerry and Dublin in 2022, where Kerry's Sean O'Se successfully kicked a long free in the last minute, despite the Dublin goalkeeper Evan Comerford's effort to trick the electronic Hawk-Eye system into adjudging it wide, by violently shaking the posts as the ball was in the air.
Actually better still, there was another club game in Tyrone recently, where a brawl escalated into one of the backs knocking out his opposing forward with a punch and was promptly sent off. The only problem was he was a qualified doctor, and was called back onto the pitch to attend to the player he'd just decked lol

It was Currow vs St Pats Blennerford. In Currow. The home team won.
Must stress I'm neither Irish, nor live in Ireland, so had very little clue what was going on. My mate was explaining it but to be honest, that made it worse. Was a great spectacle though. Particularly like the massive flags the lino has. Still not sure why they are so big.
The ref was getting pelters from the players. Harder to ref than a rugby union game by the looks of it.
Enjoyed it though, and enjoyed the sh*thousery. They were still digging at each other walking back to the changing room at half time.
