Malik Scott
I am looking forward to the fight Saturday.... seems a genuine 50 50 match up.
Malik Scott's record however is one of the strangest I have come across. He has had 36 fights and has NEVER stepped up.... never been hyped..... never been close to a title shot.... he is getting on a bit also. What is his deal? It is very rare that somone goes this long without fighting anyone relevant...He was out of the ring for 4 years.... Does that have anything to do withit?

He reminds me of wilder. Wilder has an excellent record but the people he has faced are utter rubbish. Wilders toughest opponent is audley harrisson and that shows wilder has faced complete bums.

True.... Thing is Wilder is hyped... I mean we have all heard of him. I did not know he existed until the Chisora fight.... It's very strange. Thinking of having a cheeky punt
on Chisora at 6/5. Home advantage plus looks motivated and in shape....

What are the odds on Scott? I'd be tempted the other way around as he may be underrated.

Re: Malik Scott
Malik Scott is a very good technical boxer, he uses his length and footwork to control his opponents and limit their opportunities to launch effective offensive attacks. He is a smart, strategic fighter who wins through craft. Scott may get robbed in this fight, he needs to sit down on his punches more if he wants to win. He's not gonna turn into George Foreman overnight but the technical advantages he has over Chisora should allow him opportunities to get aggressive while minimising the risk to himself. Malik Scott to win by decision.

Scott was inactive for 4 years from 2008-2012 with a bicep injury, on his return his record suggests that he was involved in a string of 6 and 8 rounders to rebuild himself. He did step up the competetion level last time out drawing with Vyacheslav Glazkov who is also undefeated and was a top amateur. I suppose at age 32 a slip up against Chisora would damage any world title aspirations he would have, but watching an interview with him last night he spoke of his desire to face the winner of Haye-Fury (sighting financial benefits in meeting one these 2 in England) or the winner of Wlad-Povektin should he get past Del Boy. It does appear he is looking to step up his game and he talks confidently about his aspirations which leads me to beleive that the injury which kept him out for so long is the reason why he is behind scedule with his career.

Re: Malik Scott
I'm sure beating Chisora would present opportunities to fight other British fighters for good money. I think the loser of Haye/Fury is probably more realistic though!
Why has he never really stepped up? Possibly he's just never looked good enough against his opponents, despite the wins. A string of 8 round UDs against journeymen isn't exactly going to force people to sit up and take notice.

malik scott is the most boring heavyweight ive seen, thasts why not many have heard of him. He has a great skill set but he is constantly involved in fights which would cure insomnia

I'm surprised Winchester hasn't accused the klitschkos of ducking Malik Scott

Re: Malik Scott
Scott vs either K would be interesting. They've not faced many big athletic guys who are natural on the backfoot. Probably the wrong style to beat Wlad. He's not going to out Wlad Wlad. Against old Vitali though his speed and accuracy could be troublesome.

Is scott that big? chisora is about 6ft and scott only looks about 6ft 2
Lets see how scott copes with Chisora. A win against chisora and a win against someone like tony thompson or wilder would really put him up the rankings.
Vitali Klitschko looks like his career is nearly over. at 42 he has about 1 fight left.

Re: Malik Scott
As I have said on another thread I regard Scott as a "nothing" fighter. He's dull to watch, has been matched very safely and doesn't have a big punch by heavyweight standards. I read that he apparently gained himself the nickname "80-72" due to him comprehensively outpointing several poor fighters without KOing them.
If Chisora doesn't beat him then he will have nowhere to go inmy book. Scott is capable, but not much more. A focussed Dereck wears him down in 8 rounds I reckon.

I thought Chisora was 6'2 and Scott about 6'5. Don't know where I know that from so I might be wrong.

officially he is 6ft 5 but Chisora is about 6ft or 6 ft 1 and at the press conference they stood face to face and it only looked like malik was an inch or an inch and a half taller max.

He tends to look taller in the ring than he does out. He looked 6'6 against Glazkov! Know his reach?

Re: Malik Scott
chisora weighed 18.9 stone against fury. Against malik scott he weighed in at 17.4 stone.

Re: Malik Scott
i hope chisora can win this, and make something of his career, he has consistantly (almost) taken on the best, and has better skills than his record suggests. he looked very lackluster last time out, think he will need to come out quickly to win this one.
and the americans seem very fond of padding out there prospects records, with risking any tough fights.

Not really its your typical card, although I think BJS will be on at 9.30pm so Chisora v Scott is more likely to be on at 10.30.

Would be interesting to see BJS. I reckon he's probably the best British MW out there.

Re: Malik Scott
This is a good test for Dereck Chisora.
Malik Scott has skills but has had a few injuries and also Managerial problems - which kept him away for a few years.
Could be a snoozer of a fight, as Malik is pretty defence minded. But, this is a tricky assignment for 'Del Boy'. He needs to keep busy and pushing the action, if he stands off - he'll get picked off.

He isnt proven yet and tonight is no easy fight for him, as for best MW in Britain Martin Murray is number 1 for me.

Murray is the highest ranked. But from what I've seen of the pair of them, I'd fancy BJS to win. Plus I hope he wins as Murray I find boring to watch.

To cut the long story pal Chisora's only chance is to win by 'robbery'. I expect Scott to win this but even the bookies are giving Chisora a chance sorely on the basis of a robbery.

I have a feeling Chisora will win and win well.BJS is the dark horse of the domestic middleweights for me. If he develops some power he will go far. He is still young.

I reckon Scott will win a wide UD in a fight where he runs backwards and Chisora chugs forward throwing and missing.

Alright butt, I think you could be right. If its close then you know its only going to one fighter. I just hope its not as dull and useless, as Froch vs Dirrell where one man was clueless and limited and the other was running like a chicken.

That's a scenario that has a good chance of happening. We have got to remember that Malik Scott is 32, and his best win is over the disappointing Bowie Tupou. This is his 36th fight and he's fought a string of nobodies in backwaters and his power makes him the Heavyweight version of Paulie Malignaggi.
On the other side we have the erratic "Del Boy", a fighter that could sleep-walk his way to a points loss.

Re: Malik Scott
Del boy if he is as up for it as his conditioning suggests will bully Scott and either stop him late or win a clear decision. If he has his mad head on he could lose every round and the fight will pass him by.

Seems a good match up and on paper looks like a pick em fight. I just have a feeling Chisora is going to do it. He seems really up for it.
