Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
Julio's comeback after being taught a lesson by Sergio.
Julio's first spell at 168.....will probably be an eliminator for his God Daddie's belt.
Pics doing the rounds of Julio looking MEGA FAT!!
Apparantly hasnt trained with Roach since the Martinez fight camp.
Could this be a banana skin?

Re: Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
Probably not a banana skin as he is a renown drug abuser and has been caught a few times. Bangs in some drugs to prevent him feeling being punched in the face in every fight.
he will crush Vera, fail a drugs test, get banned then come back and fight Matthew Hatton for the 168lbs vacant title hahaha

Re: Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
Physically Chavez is lucky, he has speed (hand speed), size, power, durability (his fathers chin) and is huge, but the fact is he's just not very good and will probably be matched easy after the schooling he took from Martinez
I saw the photo of him recently, when Omar Chavez fought, and he was well over 200lbs and looked huge even for him. No discipline and I'd wager that he takes something to get to 168lbs, it wouldn't be the first time now would it
Easy to hit but so is Vera and in a toe to toe battle Chavez size advantage and power/durability means he should pull through and stop Vera in the second half of the fight

Couldn't agree more mate. I don't like the guy. His father must be absolutely ashamed.

Re: Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
Yea lads, thats the pic I seen too.
Boiling off so much weight can only be a negetive. And Vera isnt exactly a chump either (he has fought at 168lbs before). Beat Lee and both Mora & Dzinziruk in his last 4 fights.
If it goes to points obviously Chavez Jr will win either way. But When you put in the facts that Chavez Jr is going to have to shift about 4 stone in the next 8 weeks or so, plus he hasnt fought in a year AND he isnt even training with Roach, I give Vera a decent shout.
Remember.......Chavez isnt really that good. Before Martinez, ok he beat Lee but was struggling for almost half a fight before he got the KO, struggled with Rubio, beat a woeful Manfredo Jr and on top of that was beaten by Zbik who severly outlanded him.
That Lee fight has been the biggest blindsighter in boxing for Chavez Jr, because if we take that away, he has been struggling against average fighters for a long time. Now throw in another average fighter with the points of losing weight and not training in about a year and I think this could be a bananaskin. I wouldnt be surprised if he gets his ears boxed off but then gets the SD decision.

Manfredo jr. is not woeful. He isnt great, but its not a bad fight.

Re: Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
Kingraf: you are missing the point I was making. Manfredo Jr was completely finished by the time Chavez jr shared a ring with him. Done to the point he announced his retirement in the post fight interview. He may have been a good contender back in the Calzaghe days but when Julio fought him it was a joke of a world title fight.
Re: Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
He'll never get back down to 160.
Most of the top guys at 168 should beat him but you can bet your house on the WBC to do everything to get him a strap and because they don't allow their guys to hold other belts (still can't believe that!) the other guys won't bother fighting him so will be a long-term champ!

Chavez Jr has all the talent but lacks the dedication to become a legend like his father.
If he even trained at 50%, he'd be a great fighter.
As for Vera, he's gonna get pancaked.

Assuming he can make weight ok I think he will just grind Vera down in his usual manner.

Re: Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
He's just not the same animal as his father. Sr. wasa real tough SOB, he wouldn't have just stood there and gotten hit for 11 rounds against Martinez, even against Whitaker and Randall etc. in fights he lost (Yes he did lose to Sweet Pea) he pushed hard and looked menacing at times, bit down on his gumshield and was willing to walk through fire to get to his man. Just not the same with Jr.

Martinez said in an interview that Vera was smaller than him and gives him no chance.

Re: Chavez Jr vs Brian Vera @168
Vera is tailor made for him, someone who is a lot smaller and has a lot less power yet still comes to fight and likes to go toe to toe
Chavez can do anything he wants in there and will probably look great in this fight. Vera has been beaten and has also been stopped before so the chance of a upset is very unlikely
